Normally, I'm not a pickup guy but I do have a soft spot for vintage ones like the early 60s red Ford Econoline pickup at 13:46. Simplicity at it's best with things such as basic leaf spring suspension front and rear and are easy to work on with hand tools. And thank you for the tour.
I owned one that I bought from a guy in the military. He left it in a Kmart parking lot because it lost power and could not start it. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said take it away for 75 dollars. I gave him 100 dollars and went to check what was wrong. The wire to the alternator came off. I stuck it back on and jumped the battery. I drove it home and ran it for 5 years. This was in 1985. Never had any problems with it. Sold it when I moved out of California. I sold it for 1500 dollars. Wish I still had it. Great little car. Had over 180,000 miles on it.
LOTS of eye candy. That Catalina was CHER-RY! The 63 Biscayne with the 327 was SWEET! I was tripping on the Econoline and Celia that you just blew by (LOL).👍
Heaven on earth. Thank you for the guided tour. A little of everything out there, quite a variety to capture the special interests we we all have. Must confess it was particularly interesting to see a yard that is NOT predominantly GM! Favorite car was that red 66' or 67' Mercury Comet fastback!
Good one Ryan. Yeah I remember the old Gremlins, when I was 11 yrs old living down in Liverpool Nova Scotia for a couple years I would watch them rumble up and down Main Street. You walked by a Belvedere, a 64’ I think like my old man had. I liked the car so much I wrote a song about Dad driving us in that Plymouth with the push button tranny. 😎👍🇨🇦
@2:23 behind and to the left of the Gremlin is a Mercury Capri. They were made in the UK & Germany and sold in those markets as Ford Capri. They were very popular in the UK & Europe.
@@dave5833 Ask that guy ^^ There's a lot of old bone yards out west with dry cars. You want one already done or one like these to restore? Restore try "Desert Valley Auto Parts or CTC Auto Ranch, there's others just Google if this guy in Iowa won't answer.
Dude! Thanks for filming this. I dont think Ive ever seen any salvage yard that almost every vehicle I liked! Common cars of their time, that most have been scrapped long ago for their big bocks sadly. Im sure that some guys will be saving some of these babies!
I would like to make a suggestion: Restore that Diamond brand truck to make a tow truck. It would be the combination of utility and old style. The next vehicles that were rescued by you would already be removed by your own tow truck.
13:50 that 1st Gen Toyota Celica! but the roof looks bent up, like it got hit on the passenger side. Also 5:27 that 1st gen Plymouth Voyager looks pretty complete. Great video
Hi Ryan, I am interested in Buick Wildcat w/air also the 5 window blue, flat nose van/truck at 11:15. The one other that caught my attention was the Buick Skylark at 11:35. The 1935 Ford pick-up at 13:10 as well as the 1935 Ford truck right after.
At 1:16 in the video you went passed a 60 Ford. Behind that was a Wood Spoke wheeled vehicle. Anyway on finding out what it is. I look for stuff like that so I couldn't have missed that. Not many people are into wood spoke wheeled cars.
Lots of people didn't like the front clip on the 67-69 tornados, but you gotta love em...the 67 had the best big block engine ever: 39° 425 with .921 lifters
At many of these yards, people didn't think that far ahead, so they stacked these vehicles to save space, & ruined the roofs on them. Sad! Yes, I thought that way too. I grew up surrounded by dozens of these cars, who knew one day they would be sought after? Plus, the "Cash for Clunkers" campaign of 2009 caused lots of these relics to be crushed.
I saw the back of a brown or gold color Ford Elite. I wish you could have filmed it. I built a '75 when I lived in IA many years ago. 6 months later she ended up in a yard after being T-boned on the driver's side.
A field of dreams. Depending on how they are underneath; engine etc. there's some cool project cars. Too many to mention, but the Mercury Colony Park is my fave or the almost blue Chevy s/wagon. Thanks man.

What were the Engineers smokin ' at GM at the time ? And for your buddy who likes Chevettes, he knows there British Based right.?
This video made me almost cry. 😢 What I wouldn’t give to get my hands on 1 or 2 of those projects! The sheet metal alone,,,,,, What a horrific waste.

Lots of potential projects there! It really chaps by backside when salvage yards stacks cars! Makes it harder to get to parts and rescuing good cars!
I hope they are going to try and salvage some of those or sell them to car buffs to fix them up.

Loved the 59 ford wagons. They ride like your on air. My friend has one and it looks like new. He will not sell it for any money.
Yes they do!
There's a farmer in Kirksville MO not far from the Iowa border with a bunch of old cars in a field. Seen few 70-72 skylark, chevelle and cutlass's.
