  • Waves of Brazilians have been arriving in Portugal, in what some are calling an unprecedented influx of immigration.
They come from all walks of life: rich and poor; educated and uneducated; entering with and without legal documents. But they are bound by a common goal: to escape economic and political instability back home.
Correspondent Gerry Hadden tells the unique story of Brazilians making a return to their motherland.

And because it had very good options for my area, and what i really wanted". (spot the differences)
Min 14:33 " ...but really to live and make a life here is very good, i love it" (dint even bother to translate)
and Min 4:20 this information would make sense 2 years ago, you need to check your facts: At the moment the economy is growing, the unemployment is at 10.2 better than Italy or Spain for example. Public debt was controlled and the deficit in 2016 was 2,1% way below the 3% demanded by the EU. Very poor and bias work..

The strange thing is that is now not just the poor, which must be because they can have a more peaceful and safer life standard. The relation between the Portuguese and Brazilians is not what you get from online stuff (angry kids who dont leave their bedrooms), it is good in real life.

Depends where she lived. The violence became bad and a real issue like 3 years ago. Isn't everywhere, like in every State, is mostly in poor areas. Cities like Rio, Vitoria or Porto Alegre are becoming very violent, even at upper middle class or rich neighborhoods and those Cities/States are rich States. Brazil's problem is a made up problem not a chronic one. For example, you can't arrest a minor for more than 6 months and you can't count in one hand the times a minor was judged as an adult. Brazil has the strongest gun policy in the world, basically civilians are prohibited to have a weapon. Add to that the fact the last 15 years this country was Governed by a gang of neocon thieves pseudo socialists with Communist tendencies and you have a receipt for disaster.
The sad part is, we are not far from greatness, all we need is a good decade, get decent politicians, change a couple laws. impunity is killing Brazil and many Brazilians.

Very interesting piece, and it looks like the light is returning in Portugal. Thank God you didn’t follow entirely the austerity plans Brussels and Schäuble had for you. It almost looks like a boom, and I hope it won’t be overdone again. Make sure you tax the super rich and keep an eye on them, constrain the speculators. Make them pay well and really invest in Portugal when they now became sick of Brazil, but give the simple work folks who return a chance to make it. The neoliberal elites tend to bring things down. They can’t help it. Neoliberalism is like a cult. They always love to help along emerging booms on which they can ride. For a while they may show good will that allows a country to recover, and then they take all the credit for the success. If it fails and when the next bust arrives they are the first to move on. So you have to insist on redistribution so that the countryside and small towns aren’t left behind.

  • @Poraqui

It's a fair portrait of Brazilian immigration to Portugal, but because Portugal has an "open doors" immigration policy, especially towards former colonies, the picture in 2023 is not the best. Housing crisis that studies show that's, at least correlated with the vast numbers of migrants, a choke hold on our Health service and Social services and rise of violence and multiple consumer complaints reports regarding services where there's a prevalence of foreigners, especially brazilians anf Hindustani. Regarding violence almost everyday there's crime being reported linked with foreigners, including brazilians. Without border control several PCC Brazilian members find haven in Portugal to continue their criminal activities. And because migrants have to face the same issues regarding everyday living in Portugal, they are not contributing positively to increased birth rates nor to the fertility synthetic index. There were in 2021 just 8 births per thousand inhabitants and women in fertile age have around 1,23 children. In 1974, in Portugal there were 24 births ‰ and fertile women had 3-4 children during their lifetime.
So, the Portuguese culture and quality of living that made foreigners dream of living in it , is fading due to Portugal accepting without control or rules multiculturalism.

The key is, Brazil has 206 millions and Portugal 10 millions, taking that aside you see portuguese came here way more than we go there. The thing is Brazilians don't immigrate, we are one of the countries with less immigrants in the world. Less than 1% of Brazil's population immigrates.

So Portugal having 20 Millions of people is not a problem but probably a goal that can only be achieved with more immigrants and if these immigrants come from Portuguese speaking countries the better because of cultural and historical bonds that make integration easier.

I'm shocked by your way of thinking. How is this even possible?
We have always had a low density population, that's a good thing and probably one of the reasons why we're one of the most peaceful countries on Earth.
We're great the way we are, we don't need to change it, (nor do we want to change it).
So you're advocating that Portugal should have 20 million of people, half of them not Portuguese people? Are you serious? You're advocating for the destruction of Portugal and the Portuguese ethnicity.
And, believe me, language in this case has nothing to do with it, European immigrants integrate better than Brazilians (especially Southern Europeans).

Tu acha que é so colocar a maquina a rodar?

Leia a nova bíblia do pacto diariamente.

    • @lauramartins5953
      @lauramartins5953 4 ปีที่แล้ว
