Brilliant review. Not so sunny here in the UK, but fortunately we have a South facing garden. So happy I purchased this system after milling through so many video reviews on different makes of security alarms. You made it so easy on which one to opt for. Thank you.
Hi Lady Plum, I'm glad the review was useful! I hope the system lives up to your needs. Both cameras made it through the Canadian Winter here, so I think you'll be good with the system. Keep in mind that you can also adjust some settings temporarily for long periods of bleak or overcast weather to prolong the life until sunnier days are ahead again. Thanks from watching from the UK 🙂

I noticed you mention there's a USB for recharging in case the camera isn't receiving enough sunlight. Can this be left plugged in 24/7 even while the camera is in operation (my guess is that it would compromise the weatherproof capability)? For context, 2 of our cameras will be in locations that are difficult to access in the event that the camera needs to be taken down to recharge, but there are nearby power outlets. Can we keep the cameras plugged in so that they stay fully charged, but have solar back-up if the power goes out (similar to hardwired smoke alarms that have battery back-up)? I hope that makes sense and thanks for any input
@@jessaturner5736 Hey Jessa, while I have not tried to leave it permanently wired with a USB cable, that shouldn't be an issue. One possible downside could be that the battery life capacity may be depleted over time if the battery is constantly being overcharged, but if you plan on keeping it plugged in all the time anyway, then you may not care. Another option is to plug in a USB cable to the the camera and let it hang down, then just connect a portable power bank whenever necessary. Of course, you'll have to seal off the end of the cable and where it connects on the back of the camera to prevent water damage. Hope that helps.
Hey Xavier, yep I was really impressed at the ability to add 16 TB, that is insane really! Also the 4K quality is like night and day in difference from other systems I've used. Even the night vision mode is so good with 4K.
@@DemCrumblies Hi Mate great video. You have earned one more subscriber. Could you please advise if the phone used to manage the home base 3 needed to be on the same wifi network as the home base! In my case I am setting the cameras for parents and I live away from them. Can I still manage the home base (like erasing storage if I opt to buy smaller capacity storage and format periodically) from my house. as long as I initially paired my phone to home base then not on the same network after it has been paired successfully to manage? 2. Can you please advise how many devices will be notified about intrusion? Can my wife and I both view the feed / notified on our individual mobile devices if we install the app? I.e can multiple devices connected to home base to view same cameras? Thanks in advance.. hope to see more videos from you
@@avin8749 Hey Avin, thanks for the subscription! I can confirm that if you do the initial setup on your phone, you can still adjust settings even when you are using another WiFi network or your phone's mobile data without issue. You can even install the Eufy App on both your phone and your parents' phones if they feel comfortable with making settings changes too. I currently have the Eufy App on both my phones. Eufy also has a web portal you can use to manage the system. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1hxdg-c9ZsnyEJZmHSjErVLp-Qa2Tr5s6/view?usp=share_link 2 - Yes, both you and your wife can view the camera feeds and events. In fact, I can pull up the same live view on 2 different phones for the same camera in the Eufy App. You can also share the camera with your wife. I haven't needed to use this feature, but you can share the camera with your wife as a "Guest" so she can view but not make admin changes, or you can share it with her as an Admin so she has full privileges. Or you can just install the Eufy app on both your phones and use the same login credentials. Hope that answered your question. If you have any other follow-up questions, just let me know. Thanks again for choosing to watch my video 🙂
@@DemCrumblies absolute champion you are mate. Thank you so much. Apart from the 120sec timeboxed short videos it sound like a great camera. I would hope the live feed doesn’t have any time frame on it? I can just watch the pigeons all day if I got nothing to do and use the iPhone screen recording to record the live feed if I need more than 120sec ! I try not to be over smart haha
@@avin8749 Hey Avin, my pleasure to help! If you open live view, it will pop up a prompt after some time asking you if you want to continue live view because it drains the battery. It will do this at certain time periods, and I haven't found any setting to disable it from asking. So if you are staring at pigeons, you'll have to keep dismissing the annoying prompt :|
⭐️ABSOLUTELY PERFECT EXPLANATION OF EVERYTHING ! 🤩 WE HAVE LOVED OUR MANY DIFFERENT EUFY CAMERAS,THEY ALL WORK AMAZINGLY WELL ! ALSO LOVE WE HAVE NEVER HAD A MONTHLY BILL ,CANT IMAGINE HOW MUCH WE HAVE SAVED !😊 THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING PATIENCE & TIME ,SIR 🙏
You're welcome UNO! Both my cameras are around 68% battery left in this Canadian Winter, so it'll easily last when we start getting more sunshine in Spring and Summer. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@TheeMan101 hey, unfortunately these can only do motion event recordings. There isn't an option for 24/7 recording. You'd have to get a camera system that plugs into a power source for constant recording. Something like this: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a lot for another detailed, quality review! I didn't know that you were a fellow Canuck lol Did this system still manage to actually charge in the dead of the winter when it was coldest? I read somewhere that their Eufycam 2-series (the previous gen) would sometimes fail to charge when the device was super-cold, so that owners had longer downtime i.e. had to warm it up first and then charge, plus deal with condensation. Also, please consider putting up your affiliate links for Eufy's Canadian website as well, besides the US one.
Awesome to meet another Canuck on here! So with winter, I was monitoring both cameras and I noticed that around January or February, it was around the 30% mark for battery life and dropping because of all the overcast days and just the cold draining the battery. So I made some settings changings like turning off the LED light, reducing the LED floodlight strength and then later just switching it off and going to B&W Night vision mode. I also think I set it for just human detection instead of all motion and that helped me ride out Winter until I could enable the settings back when it got sunny again. So yea, it's definitely possible to last a Canadian Winter (at least in Ontario) by modifying some settings to tide you over til Spring hits. They cameras were never affected by the cold, snow or ice though. I'll have to look into if I can put specific Canadian links, I think the Eufy app just lets me put the US ones by default, but I'll double check. Thanks for the reminder 👍
all set. so far they both are pretty stable, we get a lot of wind on our hill, we'll see how they hold up. i did install both of them under an eves bright sunshine but not directly, i'll test to see if the batteries recharge without continued direct sunlight. I guess the first disadvantage is not being about to view both live cams at one, but that's OK.. I was hoping to set up a continuous view on both cams.
Great to hear taglet1! Yea, they really cripple it to save battery life, which is why we can't have two simultaneous live views. Whenever sunlight is out, you can usually see if it is actively charging when you're on the home screen of the Eufy app. There is a little battery icon at the bottom left of the image and flashes on and off when it's actively charging. Otherwise, you have to go into the camera settings -> Power Manager. Hope charging works out where you have it installed!
@@DemCrumblies so far so good, they work at -10 , I still have to fine turn the notifications of picking up cars in front of my house, near my mail box
@@teaglet1 That's great to hear. It feels like -28 C today in Canada where I'm at (coldest day this year so far) and they are still working and charging. Yea you'll either have to adjust the sensitivity, disable "Vehicle Detection" in the camera's motion detection settings or set an activity zone.
Hi @raygus999, glad you found the video helpful. One thing to note is that this system uses motion-based recordings and there is no option for 24/7 recording. If you are looking for a system with 24/7 recording, I also reviewed the Reolink Duo 2 WiFi camera which has 180 degrees field of view, motion-based or 24/7 recording and also no monthly fees. However, it requires constant power. You can check that review here if you are interested: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html
@@DemCrumblies thank you. I will check around some more. But from where I am now, it is a motion based system I am looking for. But I check your link. Have a nice day.
Silly question but is 120 seconds of recorded video enough? What if there's an incident happening outside and it cuts out just when I needed it to be recording? Does the recording continue immediately after the 120 seconds and so on? I'm new to this field so I'm curious and tempted by this kit. Thank you for the excellent review 👍
Hey John, no worries, that isn't a silly question at all. When you reach 120 seconds, you can set the cameras to have as low as a 5-second cooldown or retrigger time, which means that you'll record 120 seconds, then the camera will wait 5 seconds, then record another 120 seconds. Lots of these battery-powered camera systems limit the max recording time and enable cooldown times to preserve battery life and possibly prevent overheating. I wish they let the user decide if they wanted to drain battery life to have longer clips, though.
That one is what pops up in Amazon, at time of ordering. I guess as long it is 2.5 in it should fit in the unit I may go even higher in terra bites, since I'll be installing the at my retail store. Thank you.
I think even with 4 cameras recording in 4K, you will be fine with a 5 TB drive because it's only motion-based recording and there's a cool down time of 5 seconds minimum between recordings. You should be able to easily store a couple months of footage before it's overwritten, but yea you can go higher if you want to be future-proofed.
Great video, how will it light up the spotlight automatically? How will it light up and turn on the sound automatically? will I get a notification when the battery is low?
Hi @kingofwebguru, the spotlight comes on automatically when motion is detected when it is set to Color Night Vision in the app settings. If you set it to B&W Night Vision, then it will not come on. In the HomeBase 3 settings, you can set the camera to output an alarm through the camera and the HomeBase 3 in the house, along with a light alarm too. I don't remember if there is a notification when the battery gets too low because I don't think my battery has ever gone below 30%. Perhaps if it gets lower than 10% it might send a notification, but I didn't experience that yet.
That's great to hear! I'll be releasing another 4K camera set from another company later today, but eufy is still a solid choice because they've been around for a while.
Hey @HosenS, I've contacted Eufy Support and they said they will get back to me about the supported SATA interfaces. Will update you as soon as I back. Thanks for watching and the subscription 🙂
Hey @HosenS, here is the reply from Eufy "As I checked with the team, Homebase 3 accepts SATA 1, SATA II or SATA III generations. SATA III specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I and SATA II ports."
Good Review, thank you. One thing can be added is how the internal battery is replaced. Eventually, the internal battery will need to be replaced. Your review did not touch on that subject, perhaps your will cover this in a future update- thank you
Hey N A, thanks for sharing. Have you had experience with replacing the internal battery on Eufy's cameras? This was my first Eufy camera experience, so I haven't experienced that situation yet.
Excellent review. Probably the most thorough review I have seen on TH-cam for these EufyCam3 cameras. I was thinking about getting these cameras but my main concern was the distance between base station and the cameras. It is to my understanding that the Wi-Fi connection is between the base station and cameras not the router. Your beautiful large brick home is similiar to my brick home (3600 sq ft) so I think the connectivity issue would not be a problem. Thanks for the detailed review.
Hey @netstar5950, thank you for the kind words! You're correct that the connection is between the Homebase 3 and the cameras, not the router. Eufy recommends placing the cameras away from the HomeBase 3 no more than 30 to 50 feet away. One of my cameras is about 12 feet away, and the other is around 23 feet away and they both pull up live view without timing out, so you'll be fine as long as you place the cameras within that 30 to 50 feet range. Before you permanently mount the cameras, I'd recommended pulling up the camera's live view in the Eufy App and checking how responsive it is to pulling up live view. I usually do this to ensure I have a good connection before drilling. Good luck and thank you for watching 🙂
Hi thanks for your video. I have only one question, in the front of my property I have several trees and with my current system when windy it keeps triggering the cameras. Does this system have a answer to this. Regards Steve
Hi Steve, there is an option in the Motion Detection area to select Human Detection vs. All Other Motions, which should prevent false positives generated by swaying trees and leaves.
Hi @victorrose6580, yes, you can install the Eufy app on more than one device. While there isn't an app for the device, there is an online web dashboard that you can use to access each camera, one at a time. It looks like this: drive.google.com/file/d/1afqmKKS7NkXruhVwd9sEajdGUUsoayiI/view?usp=sharing
Great review thanks. What can you tell us about resetting after a power outage? A review of the 2C system said that following a loss of power, everything had to be reset manually. Have EUFY looked at this problem with the upgrade? Cheers Moorie
Hi Moorie, I haven't experienced a power loss yet since the battery capacity has been pretty stable with the solar charging feature. One camera is at 89% battery since I installed it and the other is at 71% battery (this one isn't positioned where a lot of sunlight hits it). If one of them dies during the Winter, I'll be sure to let you know, but so far it looks like they should make it through the Winter with no power loss. Btw, there was at least two times where I had to completely power off the Homebase 3 to move it around and it didn't require any manual setting again after plugging it back in at a new location if that helps any.
Everyone keeps emphasizing the “no monthly fees”, however the purchase price has increased so much, that you are really just paying the monthly fees up front.
Hey ddaatroonn, I think that mostly stems from my low tolerance towards how most things are moving towards a subscription based model, when the hardware remains the same and software upgrades or functionality are kind of limited since the hardware is not being upgraded. Sure, systems like Blink are a fraction of what this system costs, but they do so by jeopardizing on the responsiveness of the system, the overall functionality or build quality. This system definitely has a higher upfront cost compared to other camera systems, but it packs a lot of features, great build quality and depending on how long you keep it, it easily surpasses paying monthly for a cheaper system that is also subject to price increases later down the road.
Great video but! My question is does the camera HAVE to have direct Wi-Fi connection to the camera? OR if the camera is connected to your Wi-Fi network and NOT the home base direct, will that work. My home is spread over 1500 m2 and concrete built but ALL areas have GOOD Wi-Fi signal but cameras will be over 50 feet away from the Homebase and will not have direct connection only via the Wi-Fi network. I know I’ve laboured that point so hopefully people will understand the question. Thanks again
Hey there, as far as I know, it must communicate with the HomeBase 3 because it seems as if the HB3 outputs it's own WiFi SSID to the cameras. I'm not sure if anything has changed since I reviewed these cameras in terms of firmware updates, so I highly recommend contacting eufy chat support, they're pretty good at giving out answers during the same chat session or within 1 or 2 days if they have to escalate it to their engineers.
@@DemCrumblies i took the plung knowing i could always return it via amazon, it seems i dont need to to so far, it works 40-50 foot away with strong wifi so i think it maybe that the system uses the main network around your home as well. testing for a couple of days before i extend to a couple more cameras. thanks
Thanks for watching Michael! The Kingston SSD is a really old one I had lying around, but it's a Kingston 120GB A400. It's only $19 USD now since the capacity is quite small, but you can check it out here if you're interested: amzn.to/3fFzMn9 (Affiliate Link).
Thanks for the great review. I currently have some old Arlo cameras and looking to upgrade, and these look great. A few questions though - on Arlo I have set up a schedule to activate various cameras (I have 5) at different times of the day, depending on activity (eg. I don't have the indoor ones active/detecting when we are at home). Is it possible to set up a schedule like this with Eufy ? The other thing I am interested in (after being burned by Arlo progressively reducing the 1080P bitrate to a point where it is useless for security purposes - still technically 1080P, but VERY poor quality) is the bitrate or file size (eg. how many kilobytes per second of 4K video) of the saved 4K video files for these Eufycam 3 cameras set to maximum quality ? I usually use the Arlo web interface on a desktop, which I gather is challenging with Eufy - is this really only for mobile device app use rather than desktop use ?
Hey Colin, thanks for watching my video! You can manage or view the Eufy cameras with a web interface or the app. However, it only allows you to see one feed at a time, you also cannot get a feed preview unless you click on a specific camera. This is what the interface looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1I-IYZVOBTlT2H2s5zqx8K4zgvW2IdZg3/view?usp=share_link I will get back to you about the bitrate or file size tomorrow, along with scheduling records per camera. I believe that feature is present, but I will hunt to confirm and screenshot it so you can see.
Hi again Colin, so here is a link to what scheduling looks like on Eufy: drive.google.com/file/d/1qZL7Z_5pxLaAwuLw-WG5wR_juGz96zwI/view?usp=share_link You can set automation modes or create a custom mode for an away schedule. For the video quality, a 9 second 4K file is 2165 kbps video bitrate at 3840 x 2160 and at 15 FPS. Here is a sample file you can download if you like: drive.google.com/file/d/1wwQezjx3vPf0-D9xvjanI9094y3Xwis5/view?usp=share_link
@@DemCrumblies Fantastic, than you so much. From the clip you provided, the bitrate appears to be 260kBps, which is VERY compressed for 4K (unnecessarily so considering the files are stored locally), but still better than my old Arlo cameras. One thing I am not too clear on regarding the scheduling, is whether the schedule shown in your screen shot is a schedule for the homebase (all connected cameras), or if there can be a schedule like that for each camera separately ? Also, can the video files be (automatically) saved on a NAS either as well as the homebase, or instead of the homebase ?
@@coline8696 Hey Colin, yes, you're right the files are compressed enough that I haven't even filled the 16 GB of built-in storage that comes with the Homebase 3. When I click the video file properties in Windows, it shows me the video data bitrate as 2165 Kbps and the total video bitrate as 2185 kbps. I'm guessing because the audio bitrate is 20 kbps. I didn't see the 260 kBps you mentioned, but let me know if I'm interpreting things incorrectly. The screenshots I showed are for the Homebase3's modes, there are no direct settings for each individual camera. However, in the screenshot, I made a mode called "Test", where I can set each individual camera to not record video or push notifications. So, while you can't adjust the scheduling in each camera, you can set a mode and select how you want the support cameras under the Homebase3 to function. Looks like NAS is supported too: drive.google.com/file/d/16vDdhIFcIjvR8_d4tb5aTXXLCnf4Ga6-/view?usp=sharing
How is the range from base station to cam? Example 4 sides to 3000 sq ft house. Base station in middle with 4 cams on all sides. Does it work? I read 30 ft max. Is that accurate? If the range is no good, can I buy a second base and ethernet cable it to the router or a mesh node with a LAN port?
Hey @jesmpk2298, I think Eufy recommends placing the cameras no more than 30 to 50 feet away, but having wood, brick, stone walls will factor into that number too. I have brick walls and the camera furthest away from the HomeBase 3 is around 23 feet away. I'm not sure about adding a second HomeBase 3 and how that would work, but you can check with Eufy Support to see how the system would handle that. Their chat support is pretty quick and responsive: support.eufy.com/s/contact-us Good luck!
Hey @teaglet1, you can definitely install the app on more than one phone. I don't believe they have software for computers though, however, they do have a web interface that can be used from any device with a browser. This is what the web interface looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1I-IYZVOBTlT2H2s5zqx8K4zgvW2IdZg3/view?usp=share_link Thanks for watching my video 🙂
Hi Martin, I do not see a toggle to turn off or on all cameras at once in the HomeBase 3 options. You have to turn them on and off in the App Dashboard.
Hello I have a question about recording ☝️🙂 It's possible to keep recording or set up time period for recording like everyday from 7am till 7pm or 24 hours. Thanks
Hey @speedygonzales8253, I believe this is possible, by using their built-in Modes feature, where a schedule can be set, but allow me a few days to confirm this because I leave all my cameras on 24/7.
Hey speedygonzales8253, I can confirm that using Modes lets you schedule when you want to record and stop recording. @@speedygonzales8253 See full steps below from eufy also. "To set a schedule for your eufy S330 camera to only record during certain times of the day, you can use the Modes feature in the eufySecurity app. Here's how you can do it: 1. Open the eufySecurity app on your mobile device. 2. Go to the Security page and select your camera from the list of devices. 3. Tap on the Modes option. 4. In the Modes settings, you can create a new mode or edit an existing one. 5. Select the mode you want to customize, such as Home or Away. 6. Tap on the Schedule option to set the specific time period for the mode. 7. Add a new schedule time period by clicking on the blank area of the schedule time table or the "+" button in the upper right corner. 8. Choose the mode you want to apply the schedule to (e.g., Record, Notify, etc.). 9. Customize the activation time for the schedule. 10. If needed, you can set the schedule to repeat on specific days. 11. Save the schedule and repeat the process to add more schedules if necessary. By setting up schedules for your camera, you can ensure that it only records or notifies you during the specified time periods. This can be useful if you want to avoid unnecessary recordings or notifications during certain times of the day."
Can you add an additional remote solar panel and leave it plugged into the camera to catch more light? Maybe if your camera is mounted under a roofline or shaded corner?
That's a great idea Patrick. Since the camera does have the type C port at the back, I don't see why that wouldn't work. I'm guessing the camera would accept the additional charge as if it was plugged into the wall while is still charges with the top solar panel that's already built in. Eufy has their own solar panel too: us.eufy.com/products/t8700?_pos=1&_psq=solar%20pa&_ss=e&_v=1.0 It doesn't mention compatibility with the S330 cameras since they have their own solar panel, but for the purposes of potentially doubling the charging, you should be able to do it. I just haven't tried it and all the solar panels for my other security cameras use micro USB not Type C.
Thank you for this detailed review. Found it very helpful. 😁Been looking at these cameras for sometime but I've been put off them slightly because I have an overhang from my roof as well and didn't think these would stick out far enough to get enough or any sun light to keep them charged up. (Also living in Scotland UK, there's not a lot of sun light here throughout the year either😂) I had 2 questions, I wondering now that you've had these for 5 months, how has your garage door camera's battery been? has it been able to top up its battery without the indirect sunlight? Or did you move it? And my next question, do you know if a camera isn't getting enough sunlight on its own, could I run a USBC cable from the camera and into my house to keep it charged up? (have it like a mains/ POE style camera) I'm guessing as this is an open port its no longer technically "water proof" and if water does get in through this door voids the warranty etc. Many thanks Dan
Hey Dan! I was worried about my garage camera lasting through a Canadian Winter because we have lots of overcast days during Winter. The garage camera went as low as 44%, but now that Spring is around the corner, it is back up to 64% and still charging. The other camera is at 86%, so a big difference, but the batteries are capable enough to weather the Winter season. I haven't moved the garage camera at all, it's in the same position. Once Spring hits, the battery percentage should go up even more. Yes, I think you should be able to run a USB cable from the camera to your house, then just connect it inside to a power brick or charger if you ever want to top it up. And yea, you'll sacrifice the weather sealing, but you could also use some kind of putty material maybe to seal up the port and USB cable to help. I just wouldn't have power running to the cable all the time. I'd just leave the cable dangling inside your home, then connect it to a wall or power bank when needed. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for watching my video. It's awesome to have a viewer from Scotland! Never been, but from what I've seen online, it looks beautiful.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, really appreciate it🙂. Oh wow! That’s making me seriously think about buying these if the battery lasted that long and is now charging itself back up again in non direct sunlight. Haha I was going to say a Canadian winter is similar to a Scottish one but I think you guys have it a lot harsher than we do… but the sun light levels I guess are about the same. 😂That was my biggest concern with these. There are sections around my house that I think don’t get a lot or any direct sunlight and I could just see myself going up and down a ladder taking these off to charge them constantly which is why I was really intrigued with your findings. 😁 Ok that’s also handy to know thank you. Yeh if I was planning to run a cable from the power socket/ brick through the wall to the camera I would put some sort of putty or silicone around it to make it a little more water tight… but if I don’t even need to do that with the batteries being good enough with low light levels then I should hopefully be ok with just the built in solar… I understand my usage may vary a bit to yours but it’s given me a great indication I feel so thank you again for this 😁 I can’t think of any other questions but if I do I’ll drop you a message. Haha yeh it sure is… and so is Canada! I would love to visit one day as there are some jaw dropping areas of outstanding natural beauty! Thank you again for this. 👍
@@xoNOSCoP3z Hey Dan, you're welcome. Yea, I think you can just install these and monitor to see how the battery level performs before you go the USB cable route. All my other solar cameras from other brands didn't make it through the Winter. Yea, the settings will come into play. I had reduced the spotlight brightness to medium on the garage camera in the middle of Winter when the battery level was declining in hopes of prolonging it, but seeing the battery level going back up now, I could have just left it at high spotlight brightness. If you get these, just be sure to angle it down a bit like Eufy recommends in the installation part so at least some sun will hit if the overhang casts a shadow during certain times of day. Btw, which games are you noscoping in? I've tried it before, but I don't have no scope talent lol.
Yeh I’m really tempted to go with these as they tick all the boxes. Interesting to hear the other brands with built in solar didn’t last as long. Thanks for the extra tips and tricks! 😁I’ll have a play with the settings and see if this helps prolong the battery during the winter months… and I’ll be sure to remember to angle them downwards. 👍 Haha urmm.. yeh I would love to say all the fps games I play… but nope can’t say I do a great job at it either 😂😂 the name is a bit of “tongue in cheek” when I came up with it ages ago and it just stuck.
@@xoNOSCoP3z Yea, it's an awesome system for sure, and great if you want to add more stuff to the same eco-system. I also use their smartdrop box for deliveries since porch pirates are a thing here. I also use their video smart lock and it's convenient to have it all in one app. Let me know how it goes if you end up going with it. They had given me coupon codes to share when I first did this review, but if they no longer work, you can try to find other newer review videos on it, maybe those channels have newer codes than me. I don't get to play as much fps as I'd like now, so my skills and reaction times are trending down, but it's still fun. Take care!
Hi D Hall, the batteries aren't replaceable from what I can see. You can use your laptop to access the cameras on a web dashboard. This is what it looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1hxdg-c9ZsnyEJZmHSjErVLp-Qa2Tr5s6/view?usp=share_link
Hey Peter, about 5 months ago, I noticed that the camera facing my garage was drooping lower after we had a bunch of high winds, so I had to go up and tighten it back. It's been fine since then and my camera on the side of the house has stayed in place without adjusting needed. So yea, I think if it's placed in a narrow area that is subject to high winds, it can definitely droop down. Another way to tackle it is to rotate the mount adjustment arm so that it rests on the side opposite the angulation cut-out. That was it rests on solid metal, but with the the trade-off that you won't be able to angulate it very low down if that makes sense.
I'd personally prefer an always powered camera because those tend to record continuously or 24/7 while battery powered cameras are usually motion based.
I'm new to this stuff, sorry. How is the alert sent to the smart phone when its out of the local wifi? I live in a remote rural area with very little property crime and my home has an older hardwired/monitored system for break in and smoke/fire etc but no cameras. It still works well but can't be integrated with cameras so looking at these for video recording. I'm trying to understand if it alerts me when I'm away and how? I like the no monthly/annual fees. What I pay on my old system annually is only a few dollars more than my homeowner's insurance discount. I don't worry about security when I'm home. I got a dog, a gun, and a mean little wife. Thanks
Hey Contemporary Primitive Man, when you're not connected to home WiFi you can still monitor and get alerts using your phone's mobile data from anywhere in the world. You can also share camera monitoring with your wife if she likes to monitor things too either at home or away from home. Let me know if that helps, or if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@DemCrumblies Helpful Thanks! I had no options for internet until recently got Starlink. Now I'm learning about "smart home" etc. I'm pretty handy but really new to this stuff. weighing DVR or Wifi cameras
Awesome. Good to be connected. With these cameras, they only do motion based recording and they require solar charging. Mine lasted through a Canadian Winter, so as long as you have good sunlight most days, they should be fine. I also reviewed a camera system called the Reolink Duo 2 WiFi which does 24/7 recording with 180 degrees field of view, but requires hard wired power.
Hey Omar, you will not need to replace the battery or recharge the battery if you live somewhere sunny. I live in Canada and even during the Winter months when we have low sunlight, the cameras still stayed online and now they are back to 100% battery with Spring time sunshine. Thanks for watching 🙂
TBH I'm not thrilled with a wireless system or the solar power. I do like the base and features. I would prefer POE and the availability to have up to 6 cameras. What can you suggest?
Hey @glidercoach, yea constant powered systems give more peace of mind usually. I will say though, that none of the cameras died, even through a Canadian Winter, so the solar feature works pretty well. If you're looking for POE, I highly recommend the Reolink Duo 2 camera: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html I reviewed the WiFi version, but there is also a POE version. This camera has an INSANE 180 degree field of view, which isn't a gimmick of a feature. You can probably just run 2 or 3 of these and you can have full coverage of your entire property, given the 180 FOV. They also sell an NVR, but I've been just using the one camera and a memory card and it's been working ace for me.
Hello . Thanks for the great video When motion is triggered and a familiar face is captured does it tell you for example " dad is seen In the garage " or " mom is In the kitchen " | set mine up and added 11 familiar faces and it still just says " someone has been seen " . Is there a setting I missed. Thanks
Hey MEL E, I actually set my notifications for familiar faces to ignore(not show) on my phone in the HomeBase3 settings since I only want to be notified of strangers moving around so I don't remember if it shows the person's name. I know for sure it shows the name in the events tab, but I will have to test it tomorrow to see if it shows it on the phone notification banner too. Let me check tomorrow and get back to you about it. Btw, I'm assuming you set a nickname for each familiar face already right?
Hey MEL E, so I tested this with both cameras and sometimes it shows that it is me as a familiar face and sometimes it says someone, so I guess it depends on if the AI accurately identifies the person. You can help it learn though by tapping on the AI Edge icon at the bottom of the app, click on a familiar face and you will see associated images that the AI thinks belongs to that person. If the faces and bodies belongs to the right person, then tap on it and pick "Yes". After a while the AI should get better at identifying and showing the Familiar face name / nickname in the alerts/notifications.
The camera has to be on the same network as the Homebase3, but actually once you connect the Homebase3 to your router or modem (which must be hard-wired), the Homebase 3 will give wireless connectivity to the cameras. The cameras do not connect to your WiFi network directly, they get it from the Homebase 3. I think Eufy recommends placing the cameras no more than 30 to 50 feet away. They may release a signal extender later this year, but I can't say for certain.
This system seems very nice. Do you know if you can also plug in a traditional monitor screen to the homebase as well with multiple camera views to all the cameras in live view rather than contantly using your phone or tablet?
Hey Grant, unfortunately you can't connect a monitor to get simultaneous live view feeds like with traditional CCTV systems. There is an online website that you can log into to access your cameras so that you don't have to use a small screen on a phone or tablet, but again, it only lets you open one live view at a time, so you can't see a real time update on all cameras simultaneously. The screen looks like this: drive.google.com/file/d/1afqmKKS7NkXruhVwd9sEajdGUUsoayiI/view?usp=share_link (you can only open one live view, all the other cameras have a play button to start live view, but then the previous live view will stop.
@@michioman1 Yea it's a limitation of these battery operated cameras to preserve battery life. I just wish we had the option to hardwire it and have it run 24/7, but no such luck.
@@jeffsainsot3181 this applied to all Wi-Fi based systems. This one actually powered by battery and connects to home base directly (not through your home router). It has better chances to preserve the evidence unless someone cut the wires, break into the house and take the home base.
Hi, thank you very much for your informative video. Would you happen to know how I can increase the distance from camera to home base? I’m in a rural area and would love to get some cameras out at around 300ft from the house too
Hey SuperTrickyRicky and The Slippery SevenSevens, since the Homebase 3 provides the WiFi connectivity for the cameras, I don't know if a WiFi extender can work for these cameras from the Homebase 3 to the camera. However if you want to move the Homebase 3 as close to the cameras as possible, you can use a WiFi extender that has an ethernet port on it, so that you can have the Homebase 3 moved closer to the cameras if the cameras will be far from where ISP's modem is located if that makes sense.
@@DemCrumblies I appreciate the reply, it’s proving to be tricky. Maybe I need a range extender another router and a second home base unit. Unfortunately this tech stuff isn’t in my field of expertise
Hey again, so I contacted Eufy and they said that right now, they only recommend placing cameras between 30 to 50 feet away from the HomeBase 3. They said they are working on a WiFi Extender, but it will be later this year. So if you need a working option now, then this will likely not work for you.
under the power management, it says i.e. 27 recorded events, can you view those events and where if you can? also under activity zone, when you set a zone, does it not respond to activities, it just ignores them? one my garage cam, i didn't have a activity zone and it recorded me, on my front door I did have an activity zone, it didn't record me. do i have it backwards from other model cam settings? again thanks for your input.
if you click on the Events tab at the bottom of the app, you can see all the recorded events. When you set the activity zone, it should detect all activity in that zone. If it doesn't, then you might have to adjust the sensitivity. There is a "Motion Test Mode" setting in Motion Detection where you can test this out. Also, be sure to set the Notifications to "Most Efficient" under the Notification settings. If you set no activity zone, it will record everything it sees, so the garage cam recording you makes sense in that case. You don't have it backwards, I think the front door camera just needs the sensitivity adjusted maybe. Let me know how it goes.
Hey @JJ O'Brien, no problem at all. Yes, you can use of the cameras in your front door indoors if you like. The only adjustment you will have to make is with charging. Since the camera will be indoors and likely not subject to lots of light, you will have to periodically plug in a charging cable when you notice that the battery is getting low. However, the Eufy App will warn you of low battery levels in advance so you're not caught out at 0% battery. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks for watching my video 🙂
Hey Bernard, sure you can. In the motion detection settings, you can set an activity zone so that alerts only trigger when motion occurs in the zones that you set or define.
Hey. Thanks for the informative video. Please forgive my lack of technical knowledge but I hope you can decipher my explanation of our set up here. We have an old stone house with super thick walls. The main router is one end of the house and we beam a signal to my office outside (approx 50 metres away) via a transmitter on the chimney. In the office there is another router with a separate SSID which uses the internet signal from the house. Can we connect the Eufy home base to this additional router then sync the cameras to this? The location of the cameras would be much closer to the office and would not be blocked by lots of thick stone walls. Thanks Clare
Hey Clare, absolutely, you will be able to connect the HomeBase 3 on this system to the second router in your office. Just keep in mind that the HomeBase 3 has to be hard-wired to your second modem through the ethernet cable (RJ45 cable) though. It cannot connect to your network wirelessly. Once the HomeBase 3 is hard-wired to your second router, the S330 cameras will connect wirelessly to the HomeBase 3. Just ensure that both cameras are somewhat close to Homebase 3 as much as possible especially if the brick is quite thick. At my home, I have one camera around 11 feet from the HomeBase 3 and another camera around 20 feet away and the signal strength is quite good, but my walls aren't thick. You may have to experiment a bit with positioning to get the best possible results. If you decide to buy the system, I'd be curious to hear how it went. Btw, your house seems like it would be nice to look at with the thick stone walls and chimney.
@@DemCrumblies thanks so much for your very speedy response! That’s great news re connecting the Homebase physically to the second router then getting the signal to the cameras from there. One will be positioned just outside the office and the other won’t have to contend with the thick stone walls fortunately. Will certainly post an update as to how we get on. Thanks again!
@@ClareDavies-vo7or That placement sounds like it will work out well then. It's almost the same as mine. I have my Homebase 3 in my office with the camera about 10 feet away from it and the other camera just outside my living room exterior wall and it works great. Just be mindful to place them and angle them for maximum sunlight exposure. One camera is consistently at 100% battery life and the other one, which I had to place under a small roof overhang and next to some trees has been hovering at 83% for a while. I'm waiting to see how these cold Canadian Winters impact battery life. Good luck, look forward to your update 🙂
@@DemCrumblies finally got the cameras installed. Homebase is placed in the external office, away from the house, connected to the second router. All works fine. Much appreciated.
@@ClareDavies-vo7or Hi Clare, thank you for the update. I'm so happy to hear that everything works well and you're getting a good signal. Just be sure to be mindful of how the sunlight hits the top of the cameras when you position them. One of my cameras is at 100% still even though it's Winter in Canada and mostly overcast. The second camera is around 87% because I had to position it in an area where it gets less sunlight. Still great overall though. Good luck!
You could power it with a USB C drive, but you would lose the IP rating and weather sealing, so things may get wet and corrode over time unless you came up with another solution to keep the rear area dry and moisture free.
Yep that'll work then. I think eufy also sells solar panels that can attach, which have weather sealing according to this Reddit thread: www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/comments/140z6yb/s330_with_external_solar_panel/ @@Smiler7
Hey Camiel van Laar, yes, you can permanently power the cameras with a USB cable for indoor use. Keep in mind however, that these cameras do not support 24/7 continuous recording.
I read on Amazon that if thieves hold the sync button for a long time then the camera gets deleted and so does the recording. is it true ? is there a fix for this issue?
Hey @robinjacobtxn, that used to be an issue, but it was fixed. You can check this link about the update that fixed this: community.security.eufy.com/t/get-a-new-upgrade-of-s380-homebase/3543336
Hi Glen, if you're wondering if you can access the video clips and make settings to the cameras and the system, absolutely you can. As long as the system is connected to the internet at your home, you can access it from anywhere in the world. Let me know if that is what you wanted to know.
@@DemCrumblies Your reviewing security systems and never heard of Lorex? They are in all the big stores like Best Buy, Sam's etc. I own one and they suck, but that is my 2 cents
Hey Romans 6two3, yeah I just kinda got into reviewing security cameras, so I think there's probably way more out there that I didn't hear of yet. I had some companies contact actually, which I've never heard of. I've seen the Arlo cameras in big box stores, but not Lorex. Maybe because I'm in Canada?
If leave the homebase just on the LAN and the camera's on WIFI, why is Internet required? Besides firmware updates? Been hearing that Eufy might be sending traffic to their cloud solution without you knowing? Not sure how true this is. To be safe would like to segment off the homebase to leave it only internal.
Hey Brian, I think you need WiFi mostly if you want to access the cameras when you are away from home on your phone or on their web dashboard. From what I understand of the setup, the Homebase 3 provides WiFi to the cameras, and the Homebase 3 gets internet connectivity when you hook it up directly to your modem or router. If you ran on just an internal LAN, I'm assuming that the HomeBase 3 would still output it's WiFi for the cameras, but you'd have to ask Eufy about that to confirm it. I'm also not sure if you'd have to hop back and forth from the internal WiFi SSID and the internet connected WiFi SSID every time you wanted to be online, then wanted to connect to the cameras to monitor them. I don't know about sending unneeded traffic back to their servers though. I think the AI is onboard, which is why there are no monthly fees. So the only traffic I'd assume was passing is diagnostic data or to check for updates, but there isn't really a way to confirm 100%.
If the WiFi goes down, the system will record video for 10 minutes and save the video IF internet is restored within 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the video is lost, unfortunately.
Hey Vignesh, the biggest difference really is the homebase support. Since there isn\t homebase support currently, the S40 has 8 GB of built in local storage and the ability to detect humans with onboard AI analysis. Since it has to record and perform AI analysis by itself, the battery life on the S40 could potentially drain quicker if it isn't installed in an area where it gets enough sunlight every day to top up the charge. The S330 must be paired with the homebase 3 to allow it to record to the HomeBase 3. As well, the Homebase 3 performs the AI analysis, which also includes pet and vehicle detection, so that offloads work from the S330 resulting in less work for the camera unit to perform and likely better battery life. I have both cameras, and they're great. If you don't need pet or vehicle detection and you're fine with 2K resolution (which is still quite great), then the S40 is a great camera. If you know you will add more cameras or Eufy products later, then you can get the S330 with the HomeBase 3 now and be futureproofed. Hope that helps.

@@vigneshganesan5510 Hey VIgnesh, I haven't used any of the Ring devices so I don't know about their performance. So far my eufy devices have been stable and reliable, so I'm a bit biased in recommending eufy. Maybe Ring has good products, just haven't tested them yet.
Hey Jag Gomez, my setup has the cameras around 23 feet away from the HomeBase 3 and it shows that the signal strength is strong, so I'm sure you can position them a little further away if needed. How long are you planning on having your cameras placed away from the HomeBase 3?
It's still going strong, but it did die temporarily during a Canadian Winter since we had a couple of Winter storms and a ton of overcast days, but now it's charging again and powered on. If you live somewhere cold and with long Winters, you may have to top it up with a power bank to help it last the Winter.
I'd say around 2 to 3 seconds, but it'll also depending on the sensitivity settings, if it's day or night and how strong the signal strength is from the cameras to the HomeBase 3.
Hey Bengt Berg, I'm not sure if there is a dedicated software from Eufy for Windows, but I've linked my Android phone using Microsoft's Phone Link, so I can effectively use apps on the computer like I was interacting with them on the phone. I'm not sure if Eufy has such a limit with their HomeBase 3, but I can find that out also or ask them about your specific scenario if you have a high number of cameras in a single location that needs to connect to one HomeBase 3.
@@DemCrumblies I have 7 systems with 5 cameras on each. 5 is the maximum for free operation. But this stopped with Arlo Pro2. @@patfish3291 Yea you're right, 4X, I keep forgetting about overall pixel count. Logically, it sounds like more resolution would make it better at facial detection, but I never tested both cameras side by side to really know. I do believe the solar panel on the S220 is supposed to be more efficient than on the S330 though. I never used the S330 without the HB3 so my experience was always with the HB3 functionality. It might be worth asking eufy support if the HB4 will 100% be backwards compatible with both camera models to be on the safe side, especially since the S330 is the older model.
Hey Mateusz, the HomeBase 3 has to be connected by ethernet cable inside. However, both S330 cameras connect by WiFi. I'm not sure of the maximum range, but I have both around 13 feet / 4 meters from the HomeBase 3 in both directions and the WiFi signal strength shows it as strong.
@@DemCrumblies ok thank you. There is no connecting them to wifi on the video so I wasn't sure. I want to change my old cams and have power cables so don't need solar. LED alert is great feature. My dad has eyfy floodlight and that one is missing because no reason.
@@mateuszkaflowski3827 Hey Mateusz, I understand. Let me explain further, because the basement setup you have in mind will likely not work. Unlike most other camera systems which ask you to connect to your current 2.4 Ghz WiFi network in the app with the password, then it has you scan a QR code to have the camera connect to the same WiFi network, the EufyCam 3 system works differently. Once you connect the HomeBase hard-wired to ethernet/RJ45 cable, to add the S330 cameras to the app, you have to press and hold the Sync button on the camera and keep it near the HomeBase 3, then it connects to the HomeBase 3 directly. It's kinda like the HomeBase 3 is outputting WiFi directly for the S330 cameras, and the WiFi network is hidden to other devices because I can't see a new any new WiFi networks/SSIDs when I check on my phone. So I don't think the router option will work unfortunately, since you can't specify a WiFi network for the cameras to connect to. Yea it would be good to have the option to permanently wire them for the Winter months too if solar charging is not readily available. Only kind of work around would be to drill a hole and run a Type C charging cable into your house, which you can connect to a wall or to a power bank for top ups. I actually have a doorbell camera that I just run a cable and squeeze it through my front door frame and connect a power bank whenever it needs charging, so I don't have to go outside to do it (lazy I know). Yea I like the LED light too. I have been running it with the floodlight all the time too and it's hard to make out the red LED with the floodlight is on for me.
@@DemCrumblies Ok, thank you for explaining. That's make sense to not flood home router wifi with cam data. So it's shame that cams don't have optional Ethernet connection. It could be very useful for big houses.
@@mateuszkaflowski3827 Yea, ideally, it would be great to have an option to hard-wire if you have a big house or want to ensure as stable data transmission since 4K streaming will use decent bandwidth.
Eufy has an online dashboard, but you can only view one camera at a time and you have to generate a security token that expires every time. It really isn't an ideal solution. Better to go with a Reolink camera which has dedicated computer software to view multiple cameras at once.

@@chomp54321 @Chomp Cool, I'm in Brampton. Their new Duo 2 Wifi is 4K, BUT it is ultra wide (180 degree field of view), so unless a car license plate is around 10 to 15 feet away, you won't be able to make it out. Here's the review I did on it: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html and this is the page info: reolink.com/ca/product/reolink-duo-wifi/ I found a 4 TB on Amazon.ca for around $480 CAD + Tax: www.amazon.ca/Blue-NAND-4TB-Internal-SSD/dp/B07QV3XGCP/ref=sr_1_87?keywords=8tb%2Bhdd&qid=1671898820&refinements=p_85%3A5690392011&rnid=5690384011&rps=1&sr=8-87&th=1 Even though it isn't 8 or 16 TB, the video clip sizes aren't that large so it will take years probably to fill up 2 TB or 4 TB since there is no continuous recording.
I installed this system at home. The drawbacks that I found about Eufy systems is the unclear and bad recording of voices of passersby. Arlo does a better job at recording sounds and voices. Eufy also lacks the function of brightenning vedios, if the recording is rather dark. Alro has this function, which is very good. But, all in all, I like Eufy products better than Arlo expensive ptoducts.
Hey Paddington, in the Eufy App, tap on the "Security" icon at the bottom of the app. Tap on Homebase3, then tap on the Gear icon on the selected mode that will be highlighted in blue. Then disable Camera Alarm and HomeBase Alarm for all applicable cameras. Let me know if that did it.
Yea it looks like because the S330 cameras do not have built-in internal recording, there is no footage to sync later with the HomeBase 3 when internet connectivity it restored.
I was going to buy but there’s info out there saying some customers video & images have been found on 3 party websites. This is invasion of privacy so I will keep away. It’s a shame as good kit otherwise.
Yea there was an issue before with encryption, but that has now been solved because encryption is locally done on your device and you also have to generate a code each time you want access live view via the online web dashboard vs. in the eufy security app.
Hey TheAncientVoice, do you mean the Homebase 3 or the cameras? I took a photo of a can of soda next to the HomeBase 3 for reference. The cameras aren't too much bigger than a can of soda either. drive.google.com/file/d/1N-qb3xlaJGkhCkEPB92hfcWoo27MmR4M/view?usp=sharing
Yea unfortunately for these solar powered cameras, having 24/7 recording would deplete the battery quickly. I wish there was an option to just hard wire it for power and enable 24/7 recording though.
I haven't tested it but when I contacted Eufy about this question, they said If the WiFi goes down, the system will record video for 10 minutes and save the video IF internet is restored within 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the video is lost, unfortunately.
Something sounds wrong then. What are your notification settings? Also, how high off the ground is it placed? Not sure about the sound notifications though since I just use silent notifications on mine. Is the firmware updated on the HomeBase 3 and the cameras?
Yea it looks like the Homebase 3 outputs its own WiFi SSID privately for the S330 cameras to connect to, which makes it hard to try and extend that signal for those who want to position their cameras further away. Hopefully a WiFi extender for the Homebase 3 comes later.
@@khao1412 Oh interesting. I don't remember seeing it in the options, but maybe I didn't dig around enough after any updates, and I haven't used their previous Homebase models to know if it was present in those.
@@khao1412 Ok got it. From what I understand from speaking with Eufy, they said that the Homebase 3 has to have an ethernet cable (RJ45 cable) plugged into it at all times. Once it gets internet connectivity from the ethernet cable, it then outputs WiFi to the S330 cameras. I don't believe the Homebase 3 can get connectivity through your existing WiFi modem or router though. With WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 on the horizon though, I don't see why not in the future.

Eufy stepped it up with 4K and upgradable memory you gotta LOVE IT!!!!!!!
@@avin8749 Hey Avin, thanks for the subscription! I can confirm that if you do the initial setup on your phone, you can still adjust settings even when you are using another WiFi network or your phone's mobile data without issue. You can even install the Eufy App on both your phone and your parents' phones if they feel comfortable with making settings changes too. I currently have the Eufy App on both my phones. 2 - Yes, both you and your wife can view the camera feeds and events.

Great review, I’ve ordered my 3 cam system 😎
Awesome, mine is still going strong. Thanks for watching 🙂
Outstanding, meaningful specific review.
Thank you allaboutarcherymov! They are still going strong and didn't die during a Canadian Winter.
Excellent instructional video, highly detailed, thanks sir!
Thanks Mike! Glad you found it useful. Thank you for watching my video 🙂
all set. so far they both are pretty stable, we get a lot of wind on our hill, we'll see how they hold up. i did install both of them under an eves bright sunshine but not directly, i'll test to see if the batteries recharge without continued direct sunlight.
Good review, and informative. Much appreciated as I am in the studying phase before buying a not too advanced and expensive surveillance system.
Outstanding, thank you.
Thank you, for the reply. I'll probably purchase the 4 cam set of Eufy solar.
Sounds great! I think they have their anniversary sale on now, but I'd check the Eufy site and Amazon both to see which has the best price. Good luck!
You should be able to easily store a couple months of footage before it's overwritten, but yea you can go higher if you want to be future-proofed.
great review, and thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful Fedleo1811! Thanks for watching 🙂
Thanks for review, I’m going to order one set…
That's great to hear! I'll be releasing another 4K camera set from another company later today, but eufy is still a solid choice because they've been around for a while.

Such an impressive camera.
Yep it definitely is!

I agree the amount of functions this thing offers has me excited as a tech geek
@@DemCrumbliesAgreed, subscription costs only seem to go up.
@@DemCrumblies i took the plung knowing i could always return it via amazon, it seems i dont need to to so far, it works 40-50 foot away with strong wifi so i think it maybe that the system uses the main network around your home as well. testing for a couple of days before i extend to a couple more cameras. thanks

This is what the interface looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1I-IYZVOBTlT2H2s5zqx8K4zgvW2IdZg3/view?usp=share_link
I will get back to you about the bitrate or file size tomorrow, along with scheduling records per camera. I believe that feature is present, but I will hunt to confirm and screenshot it so you can see.
Hi again Colin, so here is a link to what scheduling looks like on Eufy: drive.google.com/file/d/1qZL7Z_5pxLaAwuLw-WG5wR_juGz96zwI/view?usp=share_link
You can set automation modes or create a custom mode for an away schedule.

Hey @speedygonzales8253, I believe this is possible, by using their built-in Modes feature, where a schedule can be set, but allow me a few days to confirm this because I leave all my cameras on 24/7.
Thank you so much for answer and I will wait for your results after you using your cameras 24/7.
Have a nice day 🙋♂️
Hey speedygonzales8253, I can confirm that using Modes lets you schedule when you want to record and stop recording. @@speedygonzales8253 See full steps below from eufy also.
"To set a schedule for your eufy S330 camera to only record during certain times of the day, you can use the Modes feature in the eufySecurity app. Here's how you can do it:
This can be useful if you want to avoid unnecessary recordings or notifications during certain times of the day."
would the Seagate Barracuda 2.5"saga 6Gb/s 5400 rpm 128MB cache (5TB) work with this unit. (Eufy) or you recommend a different better drive.?
Hey allaboutarcherymov, yep that should be no issue because the HomeBase 3 is supposed to support up to a 16 TB SATA interface drive.
Great video
I'm glad it was helpful Joe 🙂
Can you add an additional remote solar panel and leave it plugged into the camera to catch more light? Maybe if your camera is mounted under a roofline or shaded corner?
That's a great idea Patrick. Since the camera does have the type C port at the back, I don't see why that wouldn't work. I'm guessing the camera would accept the additional charge as if it was plugged into the wall while is still charges with the top solar panel that's already built in. Eufy has their own solar panel too: us.eufy.com/products/t8700?_pos=1&_psq=solar%20pa&_ss=e&_v=1.0
It doesn't mention compatibility with the S330 cameras since they have their own solar panel, but for the purposes of potentially doubling the charging, you should be able to do it.
(Also living in Scotland UK, there's not a lot of sun light here throughout the year either😂)
I had 2 questions, I wondering now that you've had these for 5 months, how has your garage door camera's battery been? has it been able to top up its battery without the indirect sunlight? Or did you move it?
And my next question, do you know if a camera isn't getting enough sunlight on its own, could I run a USBC cable from the camera and into my house to keep it charged up? (have it like a mains/ POE style camera) I'm guessing as this is an open port its no longer technically "water proof" and if water does get in through this door voids the warranty etc.
Many thanks
Dan
Ok that’s also handy to know thank you. Yeh if I was planning to run a cable from the power socket/ brick through the wall to the camera I would put some sort of putty or silicone around it to make it a little more water tight… but if I don’t even need to do that with the batteries being good enough with low light levels then I should hopefully be ok with just the built in solar… I understand my usage may vary a bit to yours but it’s given me a great indication I feel so thank you again for this 😁
I can’t think of any other questions but if I do I’ll drop you a message.
Haha urmm.. yeh I would love to say all the fps games I play… but nope can’t say I do a great job at it either 😂😂 the name is a bit of “tongue in cheek” when I came up with it ages ago and it just stuck.
Take care!
Are the batteries in the cameras replaceable? Do you need a smart phone or can i use my lap top. i don't have a smart phone. thanks.
Hi D Hall, the batteries aren't replaceable from what I can see. You can use your laptop to access the cameras on a web dashboard. This is what it looks like: drive.google.com/file/d/1hxdg-c9ZsnyEJZmHSjErVLp-Qa2Tr5s6/view?usp=share_link
Any issues with the mount not holding the weight of the camera? Read some complaints that the camera would droop down to the ground
@@DemCrumblies Thank you very much for the information. I have been going back and forth trying to decide on a POE system or a battery system.
Do I need to replace battery if it's Solar charging all the time? it's sunny almost all the time where I live.

Thank you I'll check it out and that was very nice of you to respond.

@@glidercoach Thanks for the subscribe 🙂 Yea, I think you'll like that camera, the floodlight feature works pretty well too. Good luck!
Hello . Thanks for the great video When motion is triggered and a familiar face is captured does it tell you for example " dad is seen In the garage " or
" mom is In the kitchen " | set mine up and added 11 familiar faces and it still just says
" someone has been seen " .
Can we connect the home base and the camera different networks and does the camera needs to be within certain range from the home base please?
@@DemCrumblies ahh man! Lol seems like its still a great system.
Thanks for reply
@@michioman1 Yea it's a limitation of these battery operated cameras to preserve battery life. I just wish we had the option to hardwire it and have it run 24/7, but no such luck.
So all one has to do is unplug the cable wire running to the telephone pole outside your place And the system is useless ?
@@DemCrumblies
I appreciate the reply, it’s proving to be tricky.
Is the home base necessary for the camera to work?
Hi summer, yes it is needed to work with these cameras.
under the power management, it says i.e.
Sorry to bug you can I use one off the cameras in my front room as I live in a small flat I’m old School haven’t a clue thank you JJ London uk
Can you crop the field of view so to cut out areas outside of front yard to avoid unnecessary notifications ?
Good luck!
If you could get power permanently to this camera through the type C slot, would that be OK?
Sunny locations are not always an option.
You could power it with a USB C drive, but you would lose the IP rating and weather sealing, so things may get wet and corrode over time unless you came up with another solution to keep the rear area dry and moisture free.
@@DemCrumblies The camera will be out of the rain & snow under cover.

What's the possible max range between home base and camera?
Eufy recommends placing the cameras away from the HomeBase 3 no more than 30 to 50 feet away. One of my cameras is about 12 feet away, and the other is around 23 feet away and they both pull up live view without timing out, so you'll be fine as long as you place the cameras within that 30 to 50 feet range. Before you permanently mount the cameras, I'd recommended pulling up the camera's live view in the Eufy App and checking how responsive it is to pulling up live view. I usually do this to ensure I have a good connection before drilling.

What happens if the wifi go down will it still record what's going on.
If the WiFi goes down, the system will record video for 10 minutes and save the video IF internet is restored within 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the video is lost, unfortunately.
Hi. What's the main difference between s330 and solocam s40.. apart from homebase support and resolution? Which one should I go for?
@@DemCrumblies Thanks for the explannation.

Can you please tell me the distance between home base and cameras please. Thanks.
Hey Jag Gomez, my setup has the cameras around 23 feet away from the HomeBase 3 and it shows that the signal strength is strong, so I'm sure you can position them a little further away if needed. How long are you planning on having your cameras placed away from the HomeBase 3?
How is it going after a year? How's the battery life?
It's still going strong, but it did die temporarily during a Canadian Winter since we had a couple of Winter storms and a ton of overcast days, but now it's charging again and powered on. If you live somewhere cold and with long Winters, you may have to top it up with a power bank to help it last the Winter.

do the storage include or not?
Yes there is 16 GB of onboard storage in the HomeBase 3, but you can also add an additional hard drive to expand storage if you like.
When the camera software detects something how quickly does it start recording ?
I'd say around 2 to 3 seconds, but it'll also depending on the sensitivity settings, if it's day or night and how strong the signal strength is from the cameras to the HomeBase 3.
Great review. Can one connect and view with a Laptop (Windows)?
Hey Bengt Berg, I'm not sure if there is a dedicated software from Eufy for Windows, but I've linked my Android phone using Microsoft's Phone Link, so I can effectively use apps on the computer like I was interacting with them on the phone. Here's a quick video to show what I mean: drive.google.com/file/d/1M_G4_XAJ5J9af_NL910YH5LBam3-8wyd/view?usp=sharing
If you use Windows also an an Android, you can do the same. Not sure if this can work for iOS though. I can ask Eufy about native Windows support if you like, but I might not be able to get back to you until a week or so.
@@DemCrumblies thanks for the quick reply. i would be very grateful if you could ask Eufy even if it takes a few weeks. I definitely prefer using a laptop. i currently have 35 Arlo cams in 3 locationsa on 2 continents but the Arlo fee system with the newer cams makes it uninteresing to replace with Arlo when they need replacement. So I am looking for alternatives and this system seems excellent.
@@bengtberg500 Hi Bengt Berg, sure, I will ask them and find out for you. Wow, 35 Arlo cameras! I'm not too familiar with the Arlo system, but how many cameras maximum do you have connected in a single location? I know with the Blink system, their Sync Module 2 lets you connect up to 10 devices.
Any version higher than that only gets 3 months trial period - afterwards it cost something like 6 $US per camera and month - ridiculous. If I could find replacement cameras (Pro 2) I would continue as it is but they are impossible to find (worldwide). They certainly do not manufacture replacement cameras anymore.....lol
@@DemCrumblies I do not need more than 10 per base. I have 10 in France (2 bases), 10 in Switzerland (2 bases) and 2 locations in Brasil with 10 (2 bases) and 5 cameras (1 base) respectively. With the Euly system I would need 4 bases only in total (much easier to surveil).
220S or 330S ? Is there a big difference in functionality, AI, and image quality?
The S330 has double the resolution at 4K and it requires the HomeBase 3 to work. The S220 has 2K video and can work without the HomeBase 3, so the S330 is a bit more feature packed.
@@DemCrumblies it's 4x the resolution :-) ...but makes that a different for the AI recognitions of faces? or is it only to have more resolution to zoom. I got two S220 for 69€ each and two S330 for 130€ each and have to desire which I will keep. I tend to get the cheaper cameras with the doorbell E340 without the Base Station and update the Basestation with the 4. Version in the future
@@DemCrumblies thx I will test it side by side and asked the support about V4
Do the cams use wifi or contact to base directly? If the second one what is the range of the base?
Hey Mateusz, the HomeBase 3 has to be connected by ethernet cable inside. However, both S330 cameras connect by WiFi. I'm not sure of the maximum range, but I have both around 13 feet / 4 meters from the HomeBase 3 in both directions and the WiFi signal strength shows it as strong.
@@DemCrumblies ok thank you. There is no connecting them to wifi on the video so I wasn't sure. I want to wire base in the basement which could have small range but router will be in leaving room where range will be good.
I wish eufy make these cams with power wired version.
Are you using the Samsung Z Fold phone?
Yep I was using the Z Fold 4, good eye.
@@DemCrumblies thanks 😊
@Ferdinand Sure, take care and thanks for watching 🙂
@DemCrumblies you too bro, and thank you for posting the video VERY HELPFUL 😊👍
Any idea when Homekit functionality will be available?
Hey Will, I reached out to Eufy to ask about that. I should get an answer back within a week or two, and I'll update you as soon as I hear back.
Hey Will, I was told around Mid-2023, but not definite date is set.
What is the maximum distance from camera to the hard drive base?
Hey Babel, you can have it around 8 to 10 meters away (26 ft to 32.8 ft)
Hi
How many cameras I add in one hard drive base
You can have up to 16 devices.
Can i view these cameras on my computer?
Eufy has an online dashboard, but you can only view one camera at a time and you have to generate a security token that expires every time. It really isn't an ideal solution. Better to go with a Reolink camera which has dedicated computer software to view multiple cameras at once.
Does this system offer any type of cellular backup? Would it still call the authorities if internet were out?
Hi Pratt, this system doesn't offer cellular backup, nor does it call the authorities in any event. You'd have to look at systems like ADT for that type of functionality I think.
@@DemCrumblies Eufy offers 24/7 monitoring 😆
@@Pratt_Photo Hey Pratt, hmm, I haven't seen that before. Sometimes when a company says 24/7 monitoring, they may just mean that it can record 24/7 vs. having professional monitoring where they reach out to authorities if needed. I checked their website, but I couldn't find mention of it. Do you have a link by any chance? I'd love to read up on it if they offer it. Thanks.
@@DemCrumblies
This is paid 24/7 monitoring. Just like ring, simplisafe, or even adt.
@@DemCrumblies I posted the link multiple times, but TH-cam keeps deleting it. It says you have disabled comments with links.
S330 eufycam. Red and blue alternately. And sync button no sound. How to solution.
Hmm I'm not sure about that issue. If the cameras are all fully charged and the HomeBase 3 is plugged in and powered on already, it's best to contact eufy support directly. They are very good at figuring out those issues quickly.
i have had them up for a couple days, the front door cam only detects me about 15 feet away, I pull the truck out of the garage , it doesn't detect it at all...i can see all the way out to mail mailbox about 30 feet away, but no detection from the cam. 😐
If you go into the Homebase3 Settings, then AI Empowerment, are both cameras selected? Also, if you go into the Motion Detection settings on each camera, is Vehicle Detection turned? What is your sensitivity set to on each camera btw? Is "All Other Motions" enabled in Motion Detection? I have everything enabled on mine.
@@DemCrumblies thanks for your response, i do have everything checked, as yours, also i didn't have any activity zones marked, just to catch all movements. i don't get it, i'll pay more with it tomorrow.
@@DemCrumblies well, i am still not getting it to record activity, sometime it does, currently it's not , i have checked it all recommended, i'd like to just reset it all back to factory set.. don't know if its available
door bell is working fine..
@@teaglet1 Hey teaglet1, sorry to hear that. If a reset and having all the newest firmware doesn't help, I would consider contacting Eufy Support for additional help. Their chat support is pretty responsive during business hours. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
I have an internet provider that gives me 300 Mbps download/upload.....will this be enough?
Hey Glenen G, that will be no problem as long as you place the Homebase3 in a good location so that both cameras have a strong signal. My internet us only 100 Mbps download and around 10Mbps upload.
@@DemCrumblies thank you
wifi 2.4ghz connection or 5ghz ? Please advise, cheers.
Hey David, it only supports 2.4 Ghz.
@@DemCrumblies thank you bro, also does it support 24/7 recording for this model? cheers
@@wangdavid463 Hey David, unfortunately it doesn't support 24/7 recording :(
@@DemCrumblies yep,,thx mate.
@@wangdavid463 No worries. If you're looking for a camera that records 24/7, I recently reviewed the Reolink Duo 2 camera, but it requires hard wiring and is not solar powered.
what distance from my house will this work?
According to Eufy, around 100 - 150 feet from the HomeBase 3 unit (direct line of sight, wall thickness, interference from other electronics will play a factor too though). I have one camera around 6 feet away and the other camera is around 40 feet away from the HomeBase 3 with no issues. A realistic placement should be no more than 30 to 40 feet from the Homebase 3 I think though.
Is there a Poe version? It is too easy to jam WiFi
No POE version unfortunately. I will be reviewing a different camera system in a few weeks which has POE though.
How much is it?
Hey the links to prices are in the description, along with a coupon code.
An extreme rip off.
Do these cameras have the reset (synchronisation) button that wipes out all the previously recorded footage and allows for a thief to make off with your cameras?😢 I call that quite a flaw in the programming, don't you?🥺
Hey Benjamin, that is a big issue if someone can gain access to the cameras if they aren't mounted high enough off the ground. Luckily, they have issued updates to patch the issue on this camera system. Here is the source article if you're interested: community.security.eufy.com/t/get-a-new-upgrade-of-s380-homebase/3543336
@@DemCrumblies Say, that is good news thanks. Will you be doing a review on how that worked out and prove it's outcome, and solution actually works? Because the video will be wiped out the thief can bring his own ladder. LOL
@@benjamincrooker2533 Hey Benjamin, this video is some confirmation: th-cam.com/users/shortsmgTChmi4AYU I might make a quick shorts video later once I have to get back up on a ladder to adjust any of the cameras.
Do you know how far the camera can be placed from the base?
Hey Zacch, I'm not sure of the maximum distance but, I'd estimate that both of my cameras are around 12 to 13 feet away from the HomeBase 3. When you're in the camera settings in the app, it shows you a WiFi signal to show how strong the connection is and both of my cameras show the WiFi signal strength at the highest end.
How far are you thinking about placing your cameras? I could try to move my Homebase away from one camera so that it's around 24 feet or 7 meters to test the performance if your distance is around the same.
@@DemCrumblies Well, I have a Eufy doorbell and homebase 2. The doorbell is probably 30 feet away? Never had an issue. However, if I was to buy the cameras, they would easily be twice as far away and one of them maybe 3x+. The hub is in the front of the house and I want a camera on the shed in the back of the yard. Not sure if that is feasible.
@@Zbecker13 Got it. I can ask Eufy about their official ranges to see, but I likely won't hear back for another two weeks. I believe the new S330 cameras are only compatible with the new HomeBase 3 because their website only lists the HomeBase 3 under compatibility. Would you be willing to upgrade from the HomeBase 2? If not, then the S330s might be a non-starter.
@@DemCrumblies 100%. I'll buy the package with 3 cameras, I think
I called customer service and they saod 100 - 150 feet. However, it will vary based on walls and interference from other electronics

Good to know. I left mine on the color mode during testing.
what is FPS ?
It records at 15 FPS.
Assuming I provide continuous power via a USB cable and wall adapter, can this camera be used for 24/7 recording?
Hey Chomp, unfortunately, there is no option for 24/7 continuous recording even if it is permanently powered on. I did recently review another camera system, which allows 24/7 recording, which is the Reolink Duo 2 WiFi here: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html
@@DemCrumblies Thanks! You and other YTers that have been asked by Eufy to review their cameras should band together and get them to make 24/7 recording available on at least some of the cameras that connect to Homebase, especially now that it can take a HDD up to 16TB, though I have not been able to find one in 2.5 inch format. The only options now are the C22 and C24 cameras, which only capture videos on a local SD card. I have a feeling that those will be discontinued soon, judging by how quickly and often Eufy comes up with new cameras. I have looked into Reolink cameras, but in general their performance is not as good as Eufy cameras. In addition, I believe they don't have 4K WiFi cameras; only PoE.
@@chomp54321 Hey Chomp, yes I am not sure why they don't allow 24/7 recording yet either, especially if users are ok with hardwiring power to the cameras permanently. Which country do you live in? I can help you find 2.5" HDDs. The Reolink camera I reviewed is a 4K WiFi version because I didn't want to run a long ethernet cable for the PoE camera.
@@DemCrumblies I live in Toronto. There are not many 2.5" HDD, and those actually have rather small capacity. There are 2.5" SSD, which would cost almost $1K for 8TB, the biggest capacity that I can find. Which Reolink WiFi camera is 4K?
@@chomp54321 @Chomp Cool, I'm in Brampton. Their new Duo 2 Wifi is 4K, BUT it is ultra wide (180 degree field of view), so unless a car license plate is around 10 to 15 feet away, you won't be able to make it out. Here's the review I did on it: th-cam.com/video/T7spRyiPj8U/w-d-xo.html and this is the page info: reolink.com/ca/product/reolink-duo-wifi/
I found a 4 TB on Amazon.ca for around $480 CAD + Tax: www.amazon.ca/Blue-NAND-4TB-Internal-SSD/dp/B07QV3XGCP/ref=sr_1_87?keywords=8tb%2Bhdd&qid=1671898820&refinements=p_85%3A5690392011&rnid=5690384011&rps=1&sr=8-87&th=1
Even though it isn't 8 or 16 TB, the video clip sizes aren't that large so it will take years probably to fill up 2 TB or 4 TB since there is no continuous recording.
Hey San'ousi Tan'yan, thanks for sharing your insight. I've never used Arlo's products, but I see them online all the time.
how to stop alarm working again
Hey Paddington, in the Eufy App, tap on the "Security" icon at the bottom of the app. Tap on Homebase3, then tap on the Gear icon on the selected mode that will be highlighted in blue. Then disable Camera Alarm and HomeBase Alarm for all applicable cameras. Let me know if that did it.
Can this work with no internet?
No, sorry, this system requires internet to function.
@@DemCrumblies Yeah I hope Eufy fixes that because if internet is down for an extended period of time then these become as functional as paperweights.
Is that me or that thing is just monstrous?
Hey TheAncientVoice, do you mean the Homebase 3 or the cameras? I took a photo of a can of soda next to the HomeBase 3 for reference. The cameras aren't too much bigger than a can of soda either. drive.google.com/file/d/1N-qb3xlaJGkhCkEPB92hfcWoo27MmR4M/view?usp=sharing
If they had 24/7 recording I would have been sold. But I don't like the fact the it records event ..
Yea unfortunately for these solar powered cameras, having 24/7 recording would deplete the battery quickly. I wish there was an option to just hard wire it for power and enable 24/7 recording though.
So what happens If one were to unplug the cable wire from the house to the telephone pole outside ? The system is now useless cause no WIFI 🤷🏼♂️
I haven't tested it but when I contacted Eufy about this question, they said If the WiFi goes down, the system will record video for 10 minutes and save the video IF internet is restored within 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the video is lost, unfortunately.
Slow to react. No sound notifications after 24 with out deleting the 24.
Something sounds wrong then. What are your notification settings? Also, how high off the ground is it placed? Not sure about the sound notifications though since I just use silent notifications on mine. Is the firmware updated on the HomeBase 3 and the cameras?
They need to enable homebase 3 wifi. It's kinda weird.
Yea it looks like the Homebase 3 outputs its own WiFi SSID privately for the S330 cameras to connect to, which makes it hard to try and extend that signal for those who want to position their cameras further away. Hopefully a WiFi extender for the Homebase 3 comes later.
@Dem Crumblies Tech I think they disabled wifi for a reason. Hope them turn it back on soon.
@@khao1412 Oh interesting. I don't remember seeing it in the options, but maybe I didn't dig around enough after any updates, and I haven't used their previous Homebase models to know if it was present in those.
@Dem Crumblies Tech I'm using homebase 3 about 2 months now. I think it have wifi built-in but just need another firmware update to turn wifi on, imo.
