    I have used eufy for years now and they have been pretty good. Doorbell camera, new eufy 3 system with 2 cams in front and 2 older eufycam 2 pro in the back yard. Caught the neighborhood kids ringing my doorbell and running off 😂. The next time they tried I activated the alarm…….they went running fast 🤣

    Excellent presentation, sir! Could you provide some qualitative info on the WiFi strength of the base? How far (approx) between the HomeBase and the most distant camera? In my case it would have to traverse the entire 3-story house. Must the HomeBase be always wired in the internet gateway, or only during the setup? Many thanks.

    I have this system since a few weeks. Still it so far scores, say 3 out of 5. Communication can be surprisingly slow (no camera is further away than about 10 meters. To get detection of e.g. pets and vehicles you must turn on the Beta-mode - The system however does not suggest this to you. I just stumbled on it. Still, a car, a cat nor a bike - no detection whatsoever works! What? say I ! The camera mounts are flimsy plastic artefacts using two small screws. The camera itself is heavy, circa 430 grammes. I also find the cameras "near-sighted" - seemingly only events closer than 5 meters are reported, if at all. Finally the solar-charging selling point: It is natural to want to hide the camera in a discrete position. If that is on the north or east side, little light for the solar panels can be expected. It likely works better down in Phoenix (AZ) but up here at 60 degrees north, with cold winters and all the darkness you could ever wish for, manual charging will be required, meaning you have to pick it off its mount and re-mount it - trying to again find a proper view. So, explore alternative products before jumping onto this choice. Myself I dumped my Arlo system, hoping this EuFy 3 would be an improvement. That remains to be seen.

    All right folks, I finally got the Eufy 4 camera kit and got installed. Here are my findings on this camera kit and it bothers me a lot that I have paid so much for something that does a below par job. Here goes.....
    First of all setting up the cameras is a cinch. Extremely easy to do. Very intuitive process. I would give 5/5 on that.
    Now coming to the core functionality... there is lag and a range issue.
    When you setup a camera, in event of any motion detection especially human & pets... you would want instant notification. Well that just doesn't happen. The camera starts recording after a lag of almost 3-4 seconds and sometimes even more. Imagine there is an intrusion of your lawn or porch or backyard ... and if the system gives you an alert after good 3-4 seconds, the intruders would have easily gotten access to your door without setting off the alarm or spotlight. Not exactly the best deterrent. Events based recording is an excellent idea but if it's delayed then it becomes rather pointless.
    Few words on the range of the camera with respect to human detection... the camera is unable to detect human motion beyond 20-25 feet. Yes one can see the live feed, zoom to 8x but the basic purpose is to have good range for a motion sensitive camera, that's where this camera is below average. I am not sure how the competitors stack up, but for me the range is very disappointing considering the hefty premium Eufy charges.
    Build quality of the camera is quite good but functionality wise it under delivers.
    I tested the camera in the night, with Infrared option and Spotlight .. once again same problem of lag and range.
    Unless Eufy fixes these issues ... this has become an expensive toy which is fun to tinker with but has limited value.
    Hope my detailed account on this overhyped camera setup gives you reasonable insight.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair but you kind of need to explain how it sucks compared to what - what hits all the points with design, functionality, and price

    • @atulmathur07
      @atulmathur07 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neverenoughtech I have no comparison as I haven’t seen other cameras perform. I wrote my impressions of this as user and it underwhelmed me as a security measure because of the lag and range. If this issue was sorted out then it’s exceptional piece of technology. I just think it should wake up faster … 3-4 seconds lag is unacceptable in event of a breach. At least 10-12 ft can be covered in that much time and that potentially gives access to the intruder to the door or window of your home. No intruder is going to be walking at an easy pace and pose for the camera so that camera can do it’s job and alert the user.

    • @atulmathur07
      @atulmathur07 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eufy support says … 3-4 seconds lag is normal. That I reckon would be a deal breaker for anyone looking for a camera security product as that much time is good enough for any intruder to go undetected.

  • @TheHsan22
    @TheHsan22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review!
    What range do you get between Homebase and the cameras before drop-off of quality away from 4k? How many walls and their material between them? How granular is the signal strength indication from each camera?
    I have a similar system with wireless cameras in front and backyards, but positioning the hub inside the house and retaining video quality has always been a challenge.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’d get nervous in the 30-35’ range. I think that you can kind of lose signal while moving … letting the camera sit still often the signal will return. A bunch of walls don’t help. I have had really no connectivity issues with my 30’ distances-ish. You get KB/s with one decimal when viewing live.

    I currently have some old Arlo cameras and looking to upgrade, and these look great. A few questions though - on Arlo I have set up a schedule to activate various cameras (I have 5) at different times of the day, depending on activity (eg. I don't have the indoor ones active/detecting when we are at home). Is it possible to set up a schedule like this with Eufy ?
    The other thing I am interested in (after being burned by Arlo progressively reducing the 1080P bitrate to a point where it is useless for security purposes - still technically 1080P, but VERY poor quality) is the bitrate or file size (eg. how many kilobytes per second of 4K video) of the saved 4K video files for these Eufycam 3 cameras set to maximum quality ?
    I usually use the Arlo web interface on a desktop, which I gather is challenging with Eufy - is this really only for mobile device app use rather than desktop use ?

      There are automation options but they don’t include powering on and off cameras … I’ll have to look into the bit rate and file size - one 20 sec video was 3.5MB. Hello. Excellent an very informative video. I have some questions. I have no problem with paying subscriptions, especially if you can get 247 constant recordings so is this possible to get that with and I heard you say you have these cameras used with your Google nest cams, how is that going and do you have a google nest hub max and will you get the full features used on both?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      No these are not meant for 24/7 recording. They record clips off triggers that can be stored locally and viewed without a subscription. I do have google cameras but they are running off a different networks and are not interchangeable. Being able to view clips and access the camera 24/7 without subscription is pretty good in this consumer space …

    thanks for the informative review! I am wondering 2 things if anyone has any experience with these - what range can you expect from the cameras as I have a farm with the entrance about 150m from the house, sheds around to interfere with the signal, and another point I wish to monitor about 200m from the house. Can the homebase also have an external wifi antenna for improving the signal to the cameras ?

      No, but you can view feeds through google nest hub and Alexa devices though I found the feed to be too choppy and delayed. I’d plan on viewing via the eufy app.

    looks like there is a flaw in that if you hold down the sync button for 10 seconds and wait for the 2nd beep it deletes the camera and all your footage from the home base, so someone can steal your camera by holding down the sync button and you lose all your footage. If you re-sync the camera the footage is restored so somehow you can't access it when the camera is removed from the system. th-cam.com/video/6TlQcg-_zoQ/w-d-xo.html

    As it is now very apparent that Eufy/Anker blantely lied about the security concerns and then lied about lying about it. Then, when it was very apparent to everyone including security experts that this was the case, they acknowledged their mistake and/or purposeful collection of data. Then, after all that, they basically said that they would wait to apologize if it was actually determined if they were in the wrong. Wait, what? I may institute a return for this exact system you have as I didn't know all this when I ordered it and haven't received it yet.

      @NeverEnoughTech I fully agree! All they had to do was acknowledge their mistake, apologize and patch it. What a shame for an otherwise awesome product. I also have been reading Google play store reviews and it seems the app is not working properly now with a lot of complaints due in part to the "fixes" that they had to implement due ti the security concerns that were of their doing. Still debating the return.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What you don’t see are the 20x products that I don’t endorse because they’re not of the quality I want to promote to my viewers. The fact that the video was made was a personal endorsement. Beyond that I think the 17 minutes was a fair assessment of the feature set.

    • @mrmarkom

      I would still appeciate that you state simple fact if you received the product for free or paid for it, and if you were compensated in some way or not. If you are that does not mean that you did something wrong, but it’s fair to state this fact, and that is also what most of reviewers specify when they start sentence with “full disclosure”.

    • @neverenoughtech
      @neverenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an outside camera that’s IP certified gonna trust that instead of waiting all winter … 🥶 also said a hard claim about battery requires a followup but I did give some sense of drain the the shorter term

    • @mikeeb290
      @mikeeb290 ปีที่แล้ว

      @neverenoughtech Ip certification and test it. Again if you do a real review and you get the camera- you gotta test. How certification works is they test a couple of units- they don't test every single one out of the gate. Additionally, as a prospective buyer battery life esp in solar is key- testing out multiple configurations to test the accuracy of their claim is also important. I understand you wanted to orient it to the area that has the best coverage, but most likely this will not be used in a single area. This will be used as a set for the front, back, and sides of the house. The indepth explanation on how to use the app and the steps were useful- but this was no review, it was a set up tutorial.
