In legion i found bots farming nodes of ore that were bugged, so they were just casting and casting and not picking anything up. And since this is a specific ore that is bugged, multiple bots accumulate at the same one. Looks hilarious.
I wouldn't be surprised that Blizzard GM's done that on purpose, just to catch botters in that way and laugh their asses off in the mean time. I mean, if ore is bugged, regular player would just curse and move on, but not bots xD
I got ban for a short time during my farm travel I didn't see message and, I think that I commonly play without headset and during the flying toward another node I use autorun and this mf ban me -_-' likelihood because my trajectory was straight. I've played for about 6 yrs paying every month, after this event I decided to stop with it and gradually I stopped.

My husband and I were trying to get every vanilla horde quest done before cata and rolled a pair of tauren dks so we would out level the content and do it faster. But for fun we also wore all the gear we got. No epic dk loot. Just questing greens. We must have been reported a thousand times and the GMs had a real fun time following us around and we saw them on several occasions. We would spam emotes and jump up and down and have so much fun when we would spot one. We had a brief conversation with one who was like 'can you tell me what you're doing?' and we explained and he was like 'okay have fun.' poor confused GMs.

I realize this is an old video at this point but... 4:05 the [@mouseover] modifier for macros allows you to do exactly that, interact without targeting as long as you keep your cursor over the target and are in range. @focus and @targetoftarget can also be used in a similar manner. Not to say the person wasn't botting/hacking but this action isn't necessarily an indicator.
the thing is, a gm doesnt talk to anyone who doesnt need help, or doesnt do something fucked up, if a gm talked to you, without you submitting a ticket, you probably did something wrong lol
yeah trust me, even on the server i ran, no one paid attention to the gm's. because gm's on private server tended to let power go to their head. mainly because once you become a gm, there is nothing left in the game for you to do, you can spawn everything in your inventory. a true gm would not grab thunderfury, they would dress in the simplest gear.

I feel you when it comes to watching bots and crap. I was a GM on a perfect world private sever(it's now shut down) the only hack I could never catch were the ones who were fly hacking. Always had to have a fellow GM confirm if they were fly hacking or not. And omg do these people blow up over the smallest things!
This reminds me when I was younger and watched my grandpa play Wow, he died from cancer just last year, he loved the game so much. I hope he's in a better place now

I remember being a GM back in 2013 when Pandashan launched, man, those were good times. I remember that once I got promoted to Head GM, I finally had a command to check people's IP. Turns out a dude was running over 50 bots from one virtual server, just to farm gold and sell it afterwards. Crazy how far people will go to make money, even on private servers.

Good old video. When i was GM at a classic Pserver we used to teleport botters to the interrogation room below Isle. A bot usually does the following 3. Hearthstone, Stand withou moving a milimeter. Or mostly just running off into the wall, the direction his waypoint is 😄
They made me GM on this shitty server called UberWoW, back when TBC was retail. I got into it with the Admins, and basically went into Shatt, gave all the NPC's GM weapons, and made them 100 times bigger. After about an hour, i spam spawned ragnaros and scaled him up as well in shatt, crashed the server. They ended up deciding to wipe for some reason to get rid of the GM weapons, too.

I've seen a blizzard gm they are not allowed to show themselves in game and they are always the opposite faction to what you are so if your alliance the gm will be horde and they are invisible this guy is obviously on a private server for sure.
hellfire was a cool server. vanilla and tbc classic realms are the original world masterpieces that otherwise would no longer exist today yur time served in azeroth and outlands as law enforcement and military security is highly respected by its citizens!

if you see someone with the GM tag next to you. You dont just run away and ignore them. At that point your in a GM investigation infact i know MOST servers actually see that impeeding and investigation and can result in a temp ban.
Seeing someone with the GM Tag is so rare, if an actual player saw one of those pop up right next to him and chat, he'd be like "Oh, cool. Hi, whats up?" No reaction at all to a GM is just... not human.

Hats off to you, moonsti. Had my own fair share of cheaters as a GM of WoW Ascension, a vanilla private server that equally was taken down by the big B. Sadly don't have any old footage myself, would've made for a nice story as well.
I'll grant I'm a Wrath-baby and don't know exactly what all was different in TBC, but TBH I have to question the presented evidence behind some of these bans. For starters, before Cataclysm some classes had rotations that were so simple they could be written into an in-game "/castsequence" macro to save time and bar-space, so the idea that you banned a player for performing exactly the same sequence of attacks is a little offputting as someone who used some of those macros throughout Wrath (and still regularly placed top damage in dungeons and raids, while also spending more focus dealing with mechanics). Second, while I don't know *exactly* when it was added, there is an "[@mouseover]" in-game macro condition that can allow you to use abilities without selecting a target, often favored by healers/casters and particularly in arenas.

Krljavi Dzo - Blizzard ban bots in batches, they monitor them for a period of time and ban thousands in one go. If they banned them individually as they were caught the bot software would just get updated to prevent detection and thousands more bots end up going unnoticed.

Ah, I enjoyed this video a lot! I too was a GM at Pandashan for 10 months. Lots of great memories and lots of bam hammers. Good old times, I kind of miss them. Was great to watch the whole process of tracking a hacker and then executing the ban, that was quite interesting when I was doing it. Why did you resign btw?

Pfft reliance on macro's is why raiders were so horrible at pvp cause they couldn't adapt. You could just simply spin at high speed and hit tab and then click an ability for auto lock on. Probably would've done it that fast back in the day the GM might have banned me. But I definitely would've reacted to that stupid question with "fuck off" or might have just tried to kill the GM.

For every class I played i had arena1-3 macros for any cc and of course keybinds for targeting. Anyways, I played from vanilla up to MoP and the reason why players sucked back in vanilla is because 99% of people didn't macro, use keybinds in general, or know how to fake-cast etc, every expansion the average player got better and better.
Um, no, no one was using keybinds (maybe the top players) and most people still keyboard-turned. Most of the guys I knew who got glad in s1-s3 keyboard-turned, clicked and since then haven't gone above 2k (because they never even tried to use keybinds). I think most pros would admit that the average player, and most Gladiators sucked ass compared to even the average Challenger now. I've been R1 once and Gladiator most seasons since wotlk (I sucked in TBC admittedly) so I think my opinion is still pretty valid. Maybe I'm an idiot but I've discussed this with other people and usually got to a consensus that the average player is much better now (now would have been around MoP, i haven't played or really talked about WoW since then). I'm also NA, if you're EU then it might be a different situation.

Because they don't? Blizzard GM's work in one of 2 Blizzard offices, and they use a custom client to assist people. It is a customer service position. There is no such thing as the dot commands (those are strictly a private server invention).

you can use custom client to assist people on private servers too, majority people dont bother with it because its simply an unnecessary thing that wastes time (thats why your tickets on retail take so long to answer) and the "dot commands" exist on retail aswell, GMs there simply use the pre-made macros for them instead of typing them out.

The druid attacking other mobs while having another target isn't proof of anything. Mouse over macros have been a part of the game as long as I have played. I play UA lock and usually just keep target or focus on the people I want to interrupt, yet I keep dots rolling on anyone in my range without ever targetting them. Did I misunderstand your point with that person?

As someone who ran bots years ago in retail I can always pick them out by the way they behave. The movements are always jerky but precise and the rotations are frame perfect every time. I f you know someone’s 5 year old who is nailing perfect rotations and always knows to heal at the exact % every time they can join my raid team I need a good raid healer haha.
Question about the attack while not targeting something. I play current wow as a pvper and you can use focus macros to attack other players your not targeting. Or even mouseover macros. So was that not a thing during that time?

Hope to see a part two. Never played WOW, but still found this enthralling.
They made me GM on this shitty server called UberWoW, back when TBC was retail. I got into it with the Admins, and basically went into Shatt, gave all the NPC's GM weapons, and made them 100 times bigger. After about an hour, i spam spawned ragnaros and scaled him up as well in shatt, crashed the server. They ended up deciding to wipe for some reason to get rid of the GM weapons, too.

I've seen a blizzard gm they are not allowed to show themselves in game and they are always the opposite faction to what you are so if your alliance the gm will be horde and they are invisible this guy is obviously on a private server for sure.
hellfire was a cool server. vanilla and tbc classic realms are the original world masterpieces that otherwise would no longer exist today yur time served in azeroth and outlands as law enforcement and military security is highly respected by its citizens!
The druid and the fisher seemed sketchy I guess but if some rando stopped and asked me to do their math homework id probably ignore them to. Hard to believe that having a rotation could get you banned. If you know, how many people banned just for having a rotation successfully appealed their bans?
if you see someone with the GM tag next to you. You dont just run away and ignore them. At that point your in a GM investigation infact i know MOST servers actually see that impeeding and investigation and can result in a temp ban.
Seeing someone with the GM Tag is so rare, if an actual player saw one of those pop up right next to him and chat, he'd be like "Oh, cool. Hi, whats up?"

Yeah no reaction is maybe weird, I would tell him to go fuck himself if he asked me what 7+3 was. Sometimes I'm sure there's a GM invisible while I'm fishing spawning troll fucking bobbers that are clickable make sound but give no fish. The troll bobbers usually stop appearing when I /y Go fuck yourself GM.
What would a GM's nametag look like on a custom UI addon like ElvUI? Most setups just show a name in class color, title and guild are removed.

I'll grant I'm a Wrath-baby and don't know exactly what all was different in TBC, but TBH I have to question the presented evidence behind some of these bans.
For starters, before Cataclysm some classes had rotations that were so simple they could be written into an in-game "/castsequence" macro to save time and bar-space, so the idea that you banned a player for performing exactly the same sequence of attacks is a little offputting as someone who used some of those macros throughout Wrath (and still regularly placed top damage in dungeons and raids, while also spending more focus dealing with mechanics).
Second, while I don't know *exactly* when it was added, there is an "[@mouseover]" in-game macro condition that can allow you to use abilities without selecting a target, often favored by healers/casters and particularly in arenas.
Came looking to see a video by an actual World of Warcraft GM, instead got some private server mod that really isn't the same thing. Well done on getting views with a title. :)

Krljavi Dzo - Blizzard ban bots in batches, they monitor them for a period of time and ban thousands in one go. If they banned them individually as they were caught the bot software would just get updated to prevent detection and thousands more bots end up going unnoticed.
Haven't talked to a GM since Cata, but they always been super helpful.

I actually worked at blizz for TBC-Cata launch as a GM. You arent just assigned to one server. You have access to all servers. This isnt quite the same at all lol

False. You were not a Blizzard GM on Hellfire while also being on Hellfire with the biggest guild on server. You aren't allowed to play on the server you are a GM on.

and that's not even the point. dude has the exact same rotation every time, perfect timing, and heals at the same percentage every time, and he has absolutely 0 response to a person appearing out of nowhere and talking to you. if you don't answer the question, fine lol but he didn't just not answer the question, he didn't even hesitate in the continuation of killing mobs. as a bot would do because the code doesn't have "turn and face the gm". it is a set of specific things to do and rotate it. So many whiny babies in this comment.

Ah, I enjoyed this video a lot! I too was a GM at Pandashan for 10 months. Lots of great memories and lots of bam hammers. Good old times, I kind of miss them. Was great to watch the whole process of tracking a hacker and then executing the ban, that was quite interesting when I was doing it. Why did you resign btw?

Pfft reliance on macro's is why raiders were so horrible at pvp cause they couldn't adapt. You could just simply spin at high speed and hit tab and then click an ability for auto lock on. Probably would've done it that fast back in the day the GM might have banned me. But I definitely would've reacted to that stupid question with "fuck off" or might have just tried to kill the GM.

For every class I played i had arena1-3 macros for any cc and of course keybinds for targeting. Anyways, I played from vanilla up to MoP and the reason why players sucked back in vanilla is because 99% of people didn't macro, use keybinds in general, or know how to fake-cast etc, every expansion the average player got better and better.
Um, no, no one was using keybinds (maybe the top players) and most people still keyboard-turned. Most of the guys I knew who got glad in s1-s3 keyboard-turned, clicked and since then haven't gone above 2k (because they never even tried to use keybinds). I think most pros would admit that the average player, and most Gladiators sucked ass compared to even the average Challenger now. I've been R1 once and Gladiator most seasons since wotlk (I sucked in TBC admittedly) so I think my opinion is still pretty valid. Maybe I'm an idiot but I've discussed this with other people and usually got to a consensus that the average player is much better now (now would have been around MoP, i haven't played or really talked about WoW since then). I'm also NA, if you're EU then it might be a different situation.

Because they don't? Blizzard GM's work in one of 2 Blizzard offices, and they use a custom client to assist people. It is a customer service position. There is no such thing as the dot commands (those are strictly a private server invention).
you can use custom client to assist people on private servers too, majority people dont bother with it because its simply an unnecessary thing that wastes time (thats why your tickets on retail take so long to answer) and the "dot commands" exist on retail aswell, GMs there simply use the pre-made macros for them instead of typing them out.

Actually you're wrong on that, when Blizzard accidentally enabled worldport on the PTR it uses the same way you port on private servers.
The druid attacking other mobs while having another target isn't proof of anything. Mouse over macros have been a part of the game as long as I have played. I play UA lock and usually just keep target or focus on the people I want to interrupt, yet I keep dots rolling on anyone in my range without ever targetting them. Did I misunderstand your point with that person?

As someone who ran bots years ago in retail I can always pick them out by the way they behave. The movements are always jerky but precise and the rotations are frame perfect every time. I f you know someone’s 5 year old who is nailing perfect rotations and always knows to heal at the exact % every time they can join my raid team I need a good raid healer haha.
Question about the attack while not targeting something. I play current wow as a pvper and you can use focus macros to attack other players your not targeting. Or even mouseover macros. So was that not a thing during that time?
