    Saw countless videos about the Flashpoint/Godox AD600 and after watching this video with samples, it clinched the deal for me and I purchased it about 7 months ago. No regrets whatsoever....other than I have not been able to use it much due to horrible California Bay Area weather. Soon it will be consistent and then, it's on!! Thanks, as always, Jason!!

    Ditto, I had the Profotto D2 500W with the TTL Air Remote, and loved it, until I had to go out on location and my D2 but it was way too powerful to run on my miniVagabond. I sent it back and got the Flashpoint Xplor 600 and I have not missed a beat. The wind got me when I had it on a light stand and it fell on the cement, I picked it up and brushed it off and it still worked. Love being able to work with groups. I use my Godox 360 as a fill light (had to buy a flashpoint receiver). I rarely shoot full power, and my battery lasts almost all week (3-4 different shoots). Great buy, Adorama just had the TTL version for $550.

    These really are great lights, and a great system. I dumped everything I had, and replaced with these, and have recently added the zoom speed lights. I've not had a moment's trouble out of the triggers. Glad to see you using, and endorsing them. As I have to rely on others to feel better about my decisions.. ;)

    great Video i also own the 600b , there one more positve thing thing to mention , its multi system capabilitys, u can use the same 600b with a canon and a sony you just need different trigger, that is especially interesting for many canon folks switching to sony but keeping their canon as a back up like me

    Hey Jason . Thanks for all the videos. Great job, keep them coming.
    I would like to ask you one thing. I would like to add battery powered light to my setup, and i was wondering if modelling light in the Flashpoint Xplor600 can be used to do the same job as Rotolight Neo? This way i could have both strobe and continuos light in one. I know both are different pieces of gear but as i currently can afford one, i would like your take on the subject. Thanks a lot

    there can only be one Master, and you're it Jason. incredible shots. I had recently purchased earlier this year the Flashpoint 600 and the triggers. I believe you used it for a wedding shoot on the beach. I use a nikon d600,but it only goes to 1/4000 of a sec. appreciate your videos. best to you.

    • @JasonLanierPhotography
      @JasonLanierPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you brother! The sync speed is determined by the camera, not the light in this case. So if it only goes to 1/4000 it's due to the D600, not the light. The same is true for the A6000 series cameras as well..:)

    I love everything I have seen about this light. The only thing is no one ever speaks about the light settings and everyone says you can shoot HSS and the light just knows when you are going o shoot in it. But not one person has said that you have to have a camera that supports HSS in order to shoot HSS. I made that mistake but the SB700's thinking of the things I would be able to do outside in the day time. I was wrong as I didn't know at the time the D5000 Nikon doesn't support HSS.. Thanks great video...

Is this a good path, or should I aim higher to a more expensive DSLR?

    Jason, a great video. Thank you.
    So you are saying that the Godox QS699II is the same as EXPLOR 600 HSS?
    Are there any differences that are known between them and what are they.
    Also what is difference between xplor 600pro and xplor 600hss. Assume you used that xplor 600hss?

  •  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jason, hope you can find some spare time to reply. I've just bought my AD600 unit, and plan to use it on beach locations like you do. I'm worried regarding its weather sealing (there's a fan inside of that thing!).
    Can salty moisture coming from the waves, an overall salty humidity you find on beaches hurt the strobe's electronics? I mean, the fan inside will be literally sucking air with particles of salty water, that can't be good for the flash.
    How is your experienced regarding this?
    Keep up with the amazing work! I subscribed to your channel!

I bought a AD600 a few months ago and I got a question... when I shoot in HSS with my nikon D610 I'm always watching a strip of light on the lower edge of the sensor and I don't know why, I have used 1/4000 and 1/2000 with different apertures and ISO's and nothing, something is happening with the shutter I think, but it has happened to you or someone else?

    • @kirksharp6895
      @kirksharp6895 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It truly depends on your style of shooting. I have one TTL that I use when the run and gun style is needed, and I have a manual version that I use much the same as Jason does. I shoot manual for most things and thus, I'm very versed in both camera and off camera metering to determine the lighting I want on my subject.

    • @rolando_j_
      @rolando_j_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TTL version is pretty expensive. It's usually arount $750. So it's about a $200 or more option. The lower tier Godox flashes don't have this big of a cost penalty. I would learn to use the flash manually, because it's not hard to learn. To adjust for Ambient in TTL, you make the same kind of adjustments with HSS as manual. HSS flash is mostly ratios between your subject and ambient lighting. So, HSS isn't much different with either manual or TTL. With TTL the camera will adjust for your subject, then you adjust shutter speed for ambient. With manual, you make your setting for ambient then adjust flash power. You will essentially end up doing the same adjustments, just different order. TTL is probably more useful under your camera's synch speed. It will adjust for things like clothing color variation. But in HSS, TTL you don't really get much because you are dealing with the double exposure of flash and ambient. Nathan, your call on whether TTL is worth it. Mind you, you could buy a Lithium Ion Powered Godox flash that you could use for rim lighting with the difference in pricing of AD600 versions.
      I own the AD360ii, it is full TTL and they don't make a non-TTL. Outfitted with all the required accessories, the AD360ii is about the same price as non-TTL AD600. The real bargain within the Godox system is the AD600 non-TTL. The only benefit over the AD360ii over the AD600 is the compactness, the AD360ii will fit in your camera bag along with your camera. I got my AD360 on a Lightning deal for a $100 discount, so I am happy with purchase.

      +rolando, Thanks! I shoot with a manual flash now. I have never shot TTL, just didn't know if it would be worth the extra money to have that option.

      Nathan Dahler There is nothing to learn with TTL. The camera make the initial exposure. Works in the same manner as auto white balance. Just does a bunch of calculations based on a flurry of pre-flashes for a final exposure setting for the flashes. As with auto WB, it will give you decent performance, but, the outcome is quite generic. Best use again is that you can quickly take of picture of bride in white then take a picture of the groom in his black tux. So for candids TTL can be useful. Other than that, understanding what the correct manual settings from experience is better than relying on a bot to make a creative decision for you. I doubt you will be using a monolight for candids. Definitely save the money. If you aren't in a hurry. Keep an eye out for a Lightning deal on Amazon. You might get a really good deal. The deal I got for my AD3600ii included spare bulb for $10 more. I think they sell for $75 separately. It wasn't the true lightning deal listing, but if you clicked on the link, you got extra options. I think the AD600 are well over $100 for the bulb. They only make one AD600. It works with all triggers. So if you find a kit deal with a trigger that you can't use, it might still be a good bargain. I bought the Canon AD360ii. Godox won't make a plastic foot for it, so you have to buy either a Canon or Nikon to use with Sony. I would get the Bowens Mount so you can use widely available modifiers.

    What do you do when you’re taking sunset or sunrise shots and there are NO CLOUDS around? Without clouds in the sky, it just seems so bland/boring. Suggestions or tips?
