Thanks for such a raw and honest video. You guys are made for each other. What the Father has put together, let no man put asunder. Period. Thanks for sharing.
My husband and I lived without a kitchen for over 6 months... contractor gutted the kitchen and then never came back to finish the job, wishing you the best. Thank you for sharing your videos.
I’m so glad you are making progress now! I can only imagine how difficult it has been with your pregnancy as a mature mother Lacey and 3 children and a farm with many different animals and plants to manage for both of you. Keep it up and your dream will come true! Praying for you 🙏🙏🙏
I'm only 26 seconds into this video and it already hits way to close to home. We started a house remodel that was supposed to take 6 months and we have been out of our home for over 18 months........ there have been way to many moments where I've questioned whether or not we are going to make it through this process....
Seems many of us have felt the pain of building/remodeling. 😢 It's a hard mind and body journey. But faith it will happen in the Lord's time has gotten us through many stressful days. Hang in there, deep breaths and many prayers will get you through!
Please don’t take this as criticism, but May 15 my daughter and son-in- law lost their only son and our only grandson 30 days before his 23 birthday. He was a proud soldier and a sweet young man, and I tell you and everyone with all the problems we’re having in our lives, it’s so trivial compared to losing a child. That baby boy is a beautiful blessing and all your children are in good health and there’s nothing more precious than that. My heart is shattered and it hurts me not to be able to take away my daughter’s pain. You guys will get through the rough patches because you have each other, love and blessings to all. ❤
Yes we are all to familiar with the pain of losing a child. I have learned that comparing our trials to one another is counter productive. We should sorrowing with those who sorrow and rejoicing with those that are rejoicing. Comparing our pain does nothing but cause more pain. It is always good to keep in mind that we don't know everyone's story and what they have been through. The pain of losing a child is something that I don't want anyone to have to experience. I am so sorry for your loss.
@@MikeTheFitFarmer I’m so sorry you’ve have had that loss, but I see you and your family and the strength you have and that’s why I say our everyday problems are only a bump in the road. And yes that’s why I hate watching news because it’s children and young adults being harmed.
It’s just really comforting to see that I’m not the only one that buys everything for a big project only to let it sit for way too long. 😅 We’ll all get there! Keep on going!
I'm sure you guys have thought it all out but it seems the mud room is in front of the 1st yurt, blocking it's view. I thought, about moving that little shed so you can have more space to put mud room in between the hurts. Just a thought. So much to think about! Nancy from nebraska
Hubby and I have been married for 44 years now and it has definitely been a roller-coaster ride but finding that 'middle ground' on things , not always easy, has been 'key' for us 😊
Hello Lacie & Mike. I love your chemistry and your beautiful family. Lacie is obviously the heart of the home & you have some really great kids! I can't wait to see your new additions. God bless you all😻🤙📿📿📿.
I am SO proud of your commitment to each other and your marriage. With God All things are possible, even a second yurt and mudroom! Stay prayed up!!!!! 😊
Hey guys, it is a lesson in patients. I'm also a visual person. I drew up our house plans. I used crafting foam block and attached graph paper to do exterior look and it really helped. The unusual shape is what is the hardest. Mine is shipping containers so 7.2' inside walls × 38.8' or 8x40 exterior. After months of trying to place a homesteading kitchen we mocked up one on our porch. I've been using it for 4 months and my husband finally saw it needed to be wider after processing pigs last weekend.. so I get my 16×20 kitchen😂.
I would love to see you guys use a rocket mass heater using the J-tube/ bell chamber style. The bell chamber can be any size you like and could be under the floor (so no space taken from the inside of the yurt) of the yurt platform. Just use extra thick side walls like 18' -24'
I’m excited to watch along as you plan out your second yurt. We’re just starting the process of buying land and planing our first yurt! I’ve been tweaking floor plans for days. 😅
Congratulations on getting another yurt to give your lovely family more space! I pray that the Lord will bless you with success in everything that is required for the new extension! God bless you!
Ohhhh can l relate! My wife and l have built four houses over the span of our marriage. All l ever said was”Do whatever you want. I just want space for my workshop and TV room with surround sound and speakers inside and outside the home.” Somehow it worked and we still speak to each other. It is not easy. Great job of compromising and getting it done.
We bought our land and it took us a year to get the foundation poured. Two years later we finally put up walls, roof and windows. A year and a half later we finally moved in. I understand how hard it isto raise 4 kids, make a living, raise animals and build a house in your spare time. It takes a lot of patience and a few tears were shed but we made it and without a huge pule of debt. You will get there one day at a time. Praying for you 🙏
I understand where your coming from! My husband and I built our house before we got married, because I said I didn’t want a divorce before we moved in to it. Here’s 30 years later and we had to do a complete redo, had some walls out, flooring out, had to replace cabinets, showers, and new flooring through out our house. Due to hubby taking up carpet to put wood floors in to help with sinus troubles. Well he found mold, ugh! So whole was cleaned by a company. We’ve been back in house while plumber and carpenter repairing. Our new floors come this coming Tuesday. I’m ready for it to be all done. (Yes we went through trials this past 3 months!) But love conquers all! ❤
If you would have used flour you would have seen the footprint really well with your drone. Congratulations on expanding your home. Thanks for the videos.
There's a book called buyers , renters and freeloaders. Very insightful for a marriage. I'm divorced, I learned too late. Basically you work on it til you are both Estatically Happy
Hello Mike and Laci. I'm so glad that you two know how to work things out. It stands as a testament to your love for each other and for God! You two are so good together and also very funny and cute. Thank you for sharing your struggles and your Life journey with us. You're a beautiful family. Your Loved too!
What a huge blessing to have this opportunity! It will all work out great! Everyone gets more space! It’s nice to bless each other by offering to let their idea be the one. It comes back as more love.
lol. Thanks for the truth & illustrations on relationships. Sadly, some marriages just don’t survive. Thanks for not putting down those of us in that situation.
Excited that you are starting the planning of the second yurt and mud room. I've been through two major construction projects. It teaches you patience and considerations for others. Looking forward to watching your progress.
If you have 2 yurts with a rectangle in between the 2, 🔵↔️🔵 Put your entrance door on the rectangle and make that your mud room with bedrooms to the left & living room, kitchen, dinning room to the right. Keep it simple. 🤗
Wow we had one new bathroom in the old farmhouse, for the shower area we had sliding louver doors. It worked great. 4 kids and Mom and Dad, all using one bathroom.
I am so happy when you post-I know that patience is a giant word and you show how it’s done. I know you all have a lot of “discussions “ but seeing you look at each other at the end of the video with such love - well you can’t fake that! Thanks and I look forward to being along for the adventure ❤❤❤
We had a baby in Feb. and I feel this. I want to slow down with my baby but I also have a 9 year old to homeschool, a garden to tend, a part time job, and a million home and property projects on the back burner. It’s so overwhelming!
Mike and Lacy...don't mention that D word! My husband and I gutted our current home 21 years ago, while trying to sell our former home, while I was pregnant with our eight child. Our entire family had to spend months sleeping together in a 15x21 ft. living room. I can't say it was the best time of our lives and we argued many times over the plans to finish our home. Not good for the children. But, at this point we have made it through 41 yrs of marriage,... and still have a few things to finish on our home. With give and take we still have each other, and have lived all of our traditional marriage vows. We are at the point where we want to downsize to a one story but,...still need the family space for holidays I pray you get through this, and finally have a home with room for the family to expand. Good luck and God bless. Have a very Merry Christmas.
When things got bad or hard, I would get a gentle push from the Lord to remember that the promise I made to God was more important than the promise I made to my husband. I had to remember that he was the head of the household and he was responsible to God even for me and that’s a lot of responsibility riding on him. I loved my husband enough to let him do the job God laid out for a family. Things went so much better and that’s what we did.
Greetings Lacey and Mike, I don't have a family your size, but I've been thinking of a yurt for myself. Lol of course it would be more off grid because I don't have children. But you have worked so much as a team and so you have to think of more then yourselves. God has you as a plan so much more than you know. He looks to you and Lacey as a model. Think about when you two first started. You'll build together as a team and you'll show that value to your children. You'll raise fine children I'm sure. God bless and I'll look forward to more videos..Blessings to you and your family 😇
Your one step closer. You will get this going and before you know it, it will be up and done. It is hard to get things moving sometimes for whatever reason. I it going to be so neat, and your family will love the extra room. Have a great day. I am looking forward to seeing this project and how it turns out.
My Aunt told us when we got married that her aunt or someone told her when she got married that if you ever got divorced that whoever wanted to leave should have to take the kids so they just didn’t get to walk away and live this “fun”’life while leaving the other person with the responsibilities… so whenever things in a fight hit that ridiculous part where nothing is being accomplished except stupidity… one of us will pop off and say “you will have to take the kids” and that’s usually enough of a reminder that we are being ridiculous at this point and break the tension… it was told to us in humor and always brings it back to a point of we are accomplishing nothing.
Congratulations on amicable solutions! 🎉❤ Side note on ants... A story told before internet, a granny told her grandson to get a shovelful of ants from one end of the property and bring it to an ant hill that was a trouble area and let the ants battle it out together. Soon, the majority of the ants were under control. So we kids did that and it worked! The queen ant and a few ants were left and we watched them move. Easy way to keep ants from dominating without chemicals. In small plots, it may be necessary to get ants from further down the road 🐜🐜🐜
We are so happy for ya’ll! My husband & I moved out to bare land 2.5 years ago with our two young kiddos, there was nothing (not even water) but we had so many different plans. We had drawn up plans for the house we wanted (that was not enjoyable at times lol) but the Lord had other plans in mind for us. Since having our plans drawn up NOTHING has been what we thought it would be. Our house in town sold very quickly so we bought a tiny home to live in until we could start building. Unfortunately building wouldn’t continue right away because we moved in the winter to bare land! The moment we got our tiny home on the land we were digging to get propane lines in, solar lines burried, water lines from the well we had dug hooked up to our above ground water tank and connect to the tiny house. At the beginning of this new adventure there were arguments about where things should be, but by the time we made it to adding onto the tiny house (a 20x20 space for bedroom, wood stove area and play area) the Lord had worked through us servitude and really no longer have any of those “intense fellowship” moments 😉 we have just completed a beautiful mud room added onto the 20x20 that we can come into and leave our muddy shoes and clothes in as we have animals and chores just as any homesteader has. Even those first steps of planning, laying out and even marking feels like a huge accomplishment!!!! So….we are SO HAPPY FOR YA’ll and understand the time, energy and dedication it takes. One small step for TH-cam and a GIANT step for The fit farmers! So proud of ya’ll! 🙏❤️
OH MY GOODNESS!! This video is so timely! We have been having the same frustrations! I have felt like giving up on the new homestead. Its been one hurdle after another. All in Gods timing. Thank you for the reminder.
As the video was ending, and you were speaking of the Mudroom, it reminded me of a teaching my husband did years ago. He is a Messianic Rabbi. He compared this earthly realm as “The Mudroom.” The place where we get “cleaned up” before we can enter the Heavenly Realm to spend Eternity with the Holy One. The “Mudroom” is a temporary place… it is not our final destination.
I love that you share the real life issues with us!! It's always so discouraging when you see all the perfect days online and you feel like you're doing it all wrong cause you can't have perfection like the people you watch. I love this!! God bless!! ❤❤❤ You are a beautiful couple!!
We have been building our forever home, pay as we go. Paid off the land first then being in a state that you have to go through codes it has been a headache and a long process. It's taken years and have definitely aged us.
We just redid our kitchen/dining area....We get ya! :) We had to turn our plans in online too. Some of the plans (they asked for the "old" way. I just did the plans on graft paper and sent it in as a picture. Do they let you do that way?
Oh my goodness we are going through the same thing. 😂 We both struggle with conveying our ideas to one another, especially with home renovations. I am always saying to him “draw me a picture” 😅

Like how you are comfortable showing how real your life is and we can relate so we're not so weird as we thought.
I know when I get overwhelmed with decisions I usually ask the Lord for wisdom. I pray the Lord will lead you and guide you!

Awesome approach! Always consider His will. Then decisions will be easier
I'm glad you decided to keep the kids.

Especially, the little one; he's my favorite; he like what's going on!!!!

Great planning & communication! Yes, life does take steps & patience is our greatest virtue. Blessings to all 🤗💕🇨🇦

God bless you all on this new building!🥰
Mudroom also equals additional food storage and a place to hang and dry herbs 🌿 ❤
The scene of you working on plans with a burp towel over your shoulder made me smile. just part of new mom wardrobe.
looking forward to your next build. Love your vids
Life is never easy but remembering God is with us through it all makes it worthwhile. Mike and Lacey you’re a very sweet couple. God bless you always
Looking forward to the new build and joining both together, congrats to you all.
"its about the journey not the destination." One day y'all will look back and remember what all you have been trough, knowing y'all did it together.
Awesome ! You will make it. God is good. Blessings !!!
I worked with a county 8 years ago who refused to accept anything electricity produced and only accepted inked Mylar prints.
This was a really insightful and encouraging video for me, as we are just about to start building our own family-homestead home in spring.
This should be required viewing for newly married couples.. real life 101.
We have been building our forever home, pay as we go. Paid off the land first then being in a state that you have to go through codes it has been a headache and a long process. It's taken years and have definitely aged us.
I love how you guys throw that little add in
We just redid our kitchen/dining area....We get ya!
Everything will be OK in the end ... ❤and you guys rock❤
Bless your marriage and may the
Lord reward you for your faithfulness!!❤❤❤
Youre making progress & love prevails!!🙏💕🙏
