One way I try to look for the etymology of Darija words is to type its name (in the Arabic script and if that doesn't work then the Latin script) and add wiktionary. For example typing "بزعطة wiktionary" into Google gave me the wiktionary page for the Fus7a word زعط meaning to expel/drive away. This is probably where بزعطة came from. (Darija tends to have a lot of really old/archaic Arabic words in its vocabulary simply because it's so far from Middle East and hasn't had any updates for a while hhh.) One more amusing example is the word for pear: بعويد which is literally بو + عويد; the one with a little stick hahah. You can find sooo many examples like these and they're all very very interesting. It's very disappointing though when I can't find the etymology of some words like سقرام which Google sadly has no idea about.
Yeah, I see. That's so sad. That's the problem with the Moroccan educational system. If they just taught us how all languages have evolved over time, it would be very clear to all of us that the Moroccan language evolved just like any other language, including Arabic.
