    That harp shell! 😍 The general cones! All the cowries! And I can't believe the prices! It was smart to have a budget; I would have spent sooooo much. Thanks for sharing!

      G'day Erin 👋🏻💖 Oh, I really wish I took just a little more money, or maybe went back for the second day 😅🤣 but I think I did really well. I would have spend hundreds if I didn't limit myself like that!! I'm usually a very frugal person, seeing those seashells in real life was just too tempting!!! Thank you so much for watching and enjoying all of the fantastic shells in this extra long video today 🥰

    Oh my swirly seashells Batman what a haul. Wow Maddie so many beautiful seashells. I love them all but my favs were the last olive you had. The next to the last shell and those GORGEOUS moon snail. You know me and moon snails. What fun you must have had. I will be beside myself there. Well until next time stay safe and keep shelling.

      G'day Anita 👋🏻💖 Hehehe, I do know how much you love the moon snails 🐌😍 and you know, I don't remember seeing other moon snails there??? I mean, I probably overlooked A LOT of shells, but moon snails didn't have much of a presence compared to cowries, cones, murexes, and volutes. I was really happy to get these lovely moon snails to show. The last little olive... OH!! Was that the smaller one with the dark pattern that looked a little green?? I really liked the colour of that one in particular; I'm glad you did too (if I'm remembering it right) 🤩 As always Anita, thank you so much for watching 🥰

    How exciting! Such beautiful shells. I loved the harp shell, so detailed. I also loved the cowries and olives, loved them all actually😂.
    Going to the shell show must have been exciting for you, shopping for a few shell treats.
    They are truly works of art!

      G'day Alison 👋🏻❤️ Oh gosh, that Harp shell is lovely! There were some at a more expensive store that have twice as many ruffles on it; it was like a super extra Harp Shell! Ahh, maybe I should have asked to film/photo one of those beauties 🥲 the Cowries and Olives were the most exciting for me, though!! The shell show was just a fantastic day, there was so much to like and so many fantastic people there. The shells on display were truly masterpieces of nature 🐌🐚 Thank you so much for watching something a bit different today, and extra long too! Thank you Alison 🥰

    WOW! You did so good!! It blows my mind how little some of those beautiful shells cost! No way can I possibly pick a favorite, but those moonsnails are gorgeous, and the general cones, and that big hunkin olive... Congrats on scoring such an awesome bunch of seashells. Enjoy!!

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Melissa 👋🏻💖 It blew my mind as well!! The man selling the shells was a little on the older side... I was secretly wondering if his prices were more current 20 years ago, and he just hadn't updated them yet 😅 or I don't know, maybe eBay prices are just too ridiculous inflated?? Anyway, I was more than happy to come away with these treasures 🐚🪙🐚 the moon snails were lovely (I didn't see other moon snails, actually?) and the huge olive was really amazing 🤩 oh goodness, there was just so much to like there; I almost went back for the second day 🤣 Thank you so much for watching something a little different and much longer today 🥰

    Hi Maddie, I was overseas for almost three weeks. It is very nice to be back and watch your wonderful videos on a much bigger screen than my phone. I must say watching you and your beautiful shells is the highlight of my day. You have bought so many interesting and beautiful shells at such low prices, well done. For me, that bag of 25 for one dollar looks very attractive indeed, as it consists of different shells in different colours and shapes. They look beautiful as a whole. I still have to watch your other recent videos, so buy for now. Thank you very much for sharing.

      G'day Florence!! Oh my goodness, welcome home! I hope you had an absolutely fantastic time abroad, especially so if it was for a much-needed holiday, and not for work ;) Hahaha, but, ahh, are the shells even any good on the big screen?? The small screen is probably much closer to how they are in real life XD but I'm really pleased that you liked seeing these shells today; I really couldn't believe the rock-bottom prices... I feel like the prices were maybe current 20 years ago, but not now! Maybe eBay has skewed my idea of what the prices should be? Anyway, I'm rambling! The 25 for $1 was stunning value; just 4 cents each! CRAZY right?? And they also looked like lovely shells! It was my absolute pleasure to share this unbagging video with you. Thank you so much for taking so much time out of your day to watch something a little different ;)

      @@SandCoffeeRocks Hi again Maddie, the seashells are all too pretty to carry a dollar sign, they are priceless in my eyes. Please do not throw away the pieces of seaglass, they are treasures from the sea too. I did spend some money buying seaglasses online before to do my artwork. You are lucky to be able to get to the beaches when you want to, it is a pity that I cannot do the same. But that has made watching your videos very enjoyable, thank you.

I wonder if there is something, but it's not advertised very well? Or maybe, most of the sellers have private stores? G'day again Adrian 👋🏻🐚 Oooh!! So, I had not actually looked up the shell identities yet when I filmed this (it's been a very busy few days) and I finally took a look at this one with the name you gave me 🐌 it's the Common Southern Bean-cowrie, so not a Coffee Bean like I though it might be. Ahhh, that's cool about it being a common one around your part of the world... I wonder if I'll find any if/when I travel south one day. Thank you for the information for this little Trivia 🤩💖

      @@userrobinmp I’m sure they’d have shell shows somewhere! Florida for sure, but I hope you can also find some on your side of the states! There is always eBay as a last resort, but shells tend to be the most expensive from there, especially when you factor in postage too.

    Phew! That was a whirlwind seashell extravaganza!! You scored some incredible shells, 🙀. My top 5 from your purchases are the general cone, murex cnissodus, tulip cone, nucleus cowrie, and the murex from India that had the operculum inside. Honorable mentions to the harp shell (very similar to one I have thrifted here in Canada) and the conus aulicus (princely cone?). I am definitely going to be rewatching this video many more times. 😀

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G'day Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻🌊💖 It felt like a crazy ride for me too!! I kinda forgot what I purchased with so many, so it was like getting them all over again!! Wow,I love your choices for the favourites, I really love the Cnissodus too (that's the shell in my thumbnails, right?? Right??!!!) My brain reads the Latin names just fine, but my mouth does NOT want to speak them competently. Anyway, wow, I'm a little surprised that the Tulip Cone got a mention, I wasn't sure if I'd be alone in liking that one 😍 The Princely Cone is absolutely lovely too. Wow, and finding that murex with the operculum was a big surprise for me!! The shells were in baskets by the dozens or hundreds! I feel like I needed a few more hours there 😅 and now I'm dreading need to re-do my recently completed shell display to fit these ones in... I might procrastinate this for a while 🤣 heh. Oh goodness me 🐚😅 Thank you so much for watching the extra long video today 🥰 extra Kitty Cat scene at the very end for anyone who want to see more Pud pud 😺

    Good morning, Maddie
    The merax shells are beautiful, and so is the harp shell. The cowries, olive, and geography shells are beautiful. The colors in the moon snails is just amazing. Dont see the colors like that very often. Seeing all the beautiful points on the shells was just amazing. Since a lot of shells do not have that sharp of a point. I enjoyed the shells at the shell show. Then seeing all the beautiful shells you got. I am also so looking forward to the giveaway. The sea glass is just unique because it gets all tumbled around in the ocean. Just beautiful shells. All of them. I just started watching a shelling video from Indonesia. Thank you for such a great video. Getting to see all the shells from all over the world. Have a great day, Maddie

      G'day Toni 👋🏻💖 Oh my goodness, I did find a lovely variety of shells to take home 😄 the Murexes, Cowries, Olives, Cones... Oh my gosh I was so spoilt for choice!! I so pleased that you enjoyed seeing all of the shells on display as well; I wasn't sure if people would want to see it first before the unboxing, but I decided to put it all together into one video. I really loved this shell show so much; I'm even wondering if I should attempt the next show in Western Australia 😅 haha, who knows where I'll be in a years time?? Ooh I'm excited for the giveaway too!! I need to print or write out the names to put into a hat first, I think there's over 100 now?? I hope the winner enjoys the shells and the sea glass that I added to the collection 🐚🐚🐚 Oh,maybe you watched the same person in Indonesia that I saw? Their channel name was "euvioxa" - they find some interesting shells, but no speaking (I tend to like narration, but that's just me 🤣). Anyhoo! Especially watching someone new. I know I should not, but I have sent a prayer up, but whoever wins it will be amazing for them. G’day Natacha 👋🏻💖 Oh no, missed out! Ahhh, it’s a hard choice between a shell show and a friend’s birthday! It was really fun, but I’m sure the birthday party was epic too 😉 and you probably saved a lot of money 🤣 Will there be any more?? Oh, you mean shell shows? Yes, though the next year’s national shell show will be in Western Australia - probably Perth, I’d guess? After that, who knows? This was the first time they had it in Brisbane; I think it’s more often in Sydney? I’ll keep my ear out for any more information about the next ones 🤗 Thanks for checking out the show virtually 🥰

    The Chinensis cowry at 40 minute mark is found in QLD and NSW as far south as Sydney. They are not common though. I have found a few around the Coffs Coast region

      G'day Adrian 👋🏻🤔 Oh wow, I had no idea that the Chinensis was an Australian shell... For some reason, I didn't remember seeing this particular one in my Aussie shell book! Awesome, I might one day be lucky enough to find my own 🤩 congrats on finding your own Chinensis as well, wow, I bet that was a great day 🎉 Thank you Adrian, for watching something a bit different and much longer than my usual videos 🥰

    OMG... I sp wish that I could attend one of the shell shows in Australia. I love Cowries, and many you either purchased at the show, or collected around Hervey Bay, are not any that I can find through any outlets in the U.S. Do you sell any yourself?

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      G'day Stephen! The shell shows are wonderful (You should see the Yeppoon shell show and unboxing I did a few months ago); there is usually at least one stall that's a bit more affordable than the rest... I wonder if the same is true for other shell shows around the world? Ahhh, the cowries that I find are not in Hervey Bay, but rather the Sunshine Coast a few hours to the south. I go to Hervey Bay for the moon snails and urchins!
      As for selling shells, no, I decided a long time ago that I didn't want to add that complication to my life; instead, I give away a lot of shells to friends and family... so much so that I don't have many "extra" shells laying around at any given time. If you want to look into buying shells, I can recommend a few stores from Australia that also ship overseas? I have this typed up elsewhere, so I will paste it here in case you are interested:
      I would like to mention two sellers that I generally think of as cheap and/or good value (I usually recommend these two for their ability to ship internationally, too), but also remember that you can find people selling shells on eBay too... though a lot of them generally aren't that cheap. Be aware that postage costs from Australia to you will undoubted be a concern to think about if you buy anything.
      First is Naturally Wild: natwild.com.au/collections/seashells-natural I have been meaning to do a buy and rate video for this store... I don't actually know the quality of the shells (you certainly won't get collection data from any of them), but I've only heard good things so far. Plus, I met the owner at the Brisbane Shell Show a few years ago (he had a store there) and the shells looked good - he is also the biggest supplier of goods to museum gifts stores within Australia. The prices are very cheap; I believe he buys them wholesale from outside of Australia in those countries that eat the snails and discard the shells. Also, the owner at the shell show said that you can message them and ask for a specific shell if you don't see it, but remember that some species can become very expensive very quickly, and I'm not sure how quickly you would receive a response with how busy they generally are.
      Second (and last) is She Sells Shells: www.she-sells-shells.com.au/ She also has an eBay store that you can look for, but prices on her website are a little better, but I think the stock is sometimes a little different between the website and the eBay, so I will link both: www.ebay.com.au/str/shesellsshellscaloundra The prices are more in line with what I typically think they should be while still being affordable for what they are, and the best part about this store is that you're getting the EXACT shell pictured in the photo, not just a generic shop photo like on Naturally Wild. Not sure you'll gen any collection data though. Less guesswork, but you pay a little more for it. Also, the store restocks quite slowly because of the time needed to photograph the shells (the owner mentioned this recently on her Instagram).
      Hope that helps you out!

      G'day Umm Nouman 👋🏻🐚 Oh wow, thank you so much for watching this big unboxing, it sure was a great one!! The Harp Shell is stunning, it's actually what first drew me over to this man's shell stall! The Isabella Cowie is so nice, it's such a rare one for me to find at the beach, so I relished this chance to get a good one! The Geography Cones, wow, such great value 🤩 and finally, I can't understand why you mentioned the olive shell...so wonderful and large!! Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    Those HUGHE Tiger Cowries are usually from Hawaii which have been illegal to collect for a good while now.

      G'day Willow 👋🏻🐚 Oh wow, well, I knew that the biggest Tiger Cowrie subspecies was from Hawaii, but I had no idea that they have become illegal to collect 😲 I guess these ones are from very old collections? Shells can keep their shine for decades...kinda crazy! Thank you for the information once again 🙏🏻 and thanks for watching another big unboxing 🥰

    The murex was a bargain! So many beautiful shells. I live in western Pennsylvania USA so I am far from the ocean so no chance of shell shows or sales. The sale prices were great!

      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Carol 👋🏻💖 Oh my goodness yes, both of those Murexes were bargains!! Actually, I think ever shell was, I was pretty shocked 😮!! And remember that those prices are in Australian Dollars, so 1 of ours is worth about 70 cents USD 😜 Awww no, I'm sorry to hear that there aren't any shell shows near you!!! You would really have to travel a long way to see one 😭 but I think a US shell show would be extra large and exciting!! Thank you so much for watching something a little different and extra long today, Carol 🥰

      I enjoy watching your videos, you are so excited when you find your shells. I completely understand how you feel even though I have only been to the ocean a dozen times in my lifetime (73!) I get most of my shells through purchases so I feel your joy as I go along with you discovering your treasurers. Have a most wonderful day!

    awww! forget the fingerprints! time to smash and grab!!!🤣🤣🤣 of COURSE I am joking!
    Those are just stunning and so shiny! Some still had their operculum which means they were still alive when harvested which is sad, beautiful, but sad for the animal.❤

      G'day Robin 👋🏻💖 Haha, yes, smash and grab those $$$$ dollar shells 😂 some of the cowries are worth as much as a diamond ring! I'm kidding as well, but not about how much they're worth 😳 Oh yes, you are very correct; I didn't mention it but one of those Murexes was surely live taken with the Operculum still inside. Sad, but that's how it's done among the hardcore collectors, I think 🤔 very sad for the snail 🐌 but let's not dwell on it today. Thanks for watching 🥰

    cowry at 29.30 is a sub-adult Mauritia species but not sure which one.

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Adrian 👋🏻😁 Darn, no idea about a firm ID for the sub-adult cowrie either? It was part of the "5 for $2" lot, and it was the only one there. I had it separate while unbagging because I was asking a few people about it's possible identity at the shell show 🤔 most agrees that it was from the Mauritia family as well... It's just so strange because it's such a light colour!! Do you think it's light colour is natural, or influenced from sun or exposure to the elements? Just curious about your opinion on that. Once again Adrian, thank you so, so much 🙏🥰

      Interesting! Very cool; I wasn't totally sure with how shiny it still is. I do like the effect it's had on the shell (though I know it's generally seen as very undesirable) - I just think it's pretty cool and super different than normal ;D Thanks again, Adrian.

    This shell show shop do the have a website?

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Veronica 👋🏻🐚 The shell show is a very big event, and I'm sure that some of the sellers there do have their own stores, though for the man I bought most of these shells from; probably not. His name is David Tarrant, and I remember because he showed me a book that he authored: Cowries of New South Wales. I believe he is a retired gentleman who was there with a mature aged family member to sell some of their shells... I don't believe he has a separate store or online presence. However, I did also talk to the owner of a store called Naturally Wild, and I know he sells shells from his small business in South Australia. You might be interested in some of his display shells at: natwild.com.au I have never bought shells from his so I can't attest to their quality, but his website has a good variety of Australian and Indo-Pacific shells for a very good price! The postage might be a hit to the wallet though, but it's worth looking at! The man himself also said that is there is a shell in particular that you're looking for, then you can email them about it... if it's common, they might have it in stock regardless of whether it's on their store pages or not. Good luck to you, and thank you so much for watching the big unboxing today 🥰
