SF6's top 6 really saved my Sunday's EVO viewing experience. Every match was hype, the crowd was on the edge of their seat and loud as hell, and the players went above and beyond to create some excellent moments for everyone. The game is gonna be a treat to watch at the highest level for the next 5 or 6 years. I'm even excited to watch the Saudi-Oil-Money invitational this weekend too.
Glad to know I'm not the only one slightly bummed about the financing behind that invitational. lol But with the way things are economically, beggars can't be choosers I guess....
Yeah, definitely an underrepresented duo. You can tell they both genuinely enjoyed how funny the other was while keeping it professional it was amazing. Lee Chung/Yipes is great but was fun seeing Yipes get caught off guard by Sajam a few times and vice versa just very cool very could tell they where enjoying themselves
You and Yipes being utterly smoked by the end of Evo was legitimately hilarious. Yipes reclining in his chair getting psychological help during his commentating downtime at one point was a highlight for me. And of course, the traditional playing of the Riki-Oh clip at the very end of EVO. My favorite part every year.

After watching your improvement stuff for awhile and grinding I decided to go to my first evo. Got trashed in GG but I got to winners semis in my pool in fighterz, and almost got out in losers! Wouldn't have had the confidence to go if it wasn't for your content, thanks sajam!

this was my first EVO and it really was something special. like, it's a formative experience a couple years late. even going basically 0-2 in my marvel pool (i got a DQ win) being able to share in the experience and root for other people or talk to everyone in my pool really took a lot of the sadness and edge off. you never really understand how important the community aspect of all this is until you find a way to be in it. (i also got a win on the eventual winner in casuals, which felt pretty nice :) ) so i'm leaving with a DQ win, a couple of really fun casuals, some new long-lasting friendships, and an itch that'll never go away. time to look out for my locals. hope to actually see you out there too, sajam! (vegas can fuck off, tho. stealing all my money all weekend. >:( )

Sajam was already my favourite FGC commentator, but 10:20 just catapulted him to the top of my list for any commentator for any sport I've seen, ever. That kind of effortless, flawless professionalism is staggering.

Evo was my first in person tournament and I had a blast. I got to meet Romolla, Tasty Steve and Justin. Bought an npress nano after waiting in that line while it was past the capcom booth. I got to play tekken 8 after I realized that the line for stick was waay shorter than pad. As well as playing casuals, meeting new people and watching the tournament. That was one hell of a first tournament. I’ll definitely be going to more after that.

The new Strive offensive mechanic looks really similar to the Tactical Rush mechanic in GBVS. Both of them appear to be invincible (though Tactical Rush is only strike invincible). Both of them can be cancelled into from normals for corner carry combo extensions. Both of them are plus on block. If the comparison holds, that also means that it's not invincible on frame 1 so it can't be used as a wake up option. Could be interesting. Using 50% burst scares me a little though, haha.
First in person EVO! Didn't get a chance to say what up to Sajam but everyone I met was super cool and welcoming. Already planning my trip for next year, almost made it out of my Strive pools this year! Definitely not gonna drown next year 💪
I've always wanted to be the guy that people describe when they say, "anyone who just tuned in must be so confused right now." When I loaded the Evo4 twitch channel to the sound of sajam quietly saying "sandblast," I may not have known at the time, but I had finally been the guy. (the timing wasn't quite that perfect but I like the way this sounds)
I never been to Evo, but i been watching for a loooong time, i remember players having standard dinner chairs and a simple table to play their matches even in the big stage and top 8s. I am glad Evo has grown so much.

this was my first time watching evo (i’ve watched like occasional tournament runs and top 8s but never live) and it was sooo fun. i was stuck in my house all weekend while being sick and hanging out with people in hoopcord while watching evo was so big for fending off cabin fever
Awesome event. In just about every aspect. Loved it. Will It Kill on live stage didn't hit it for me. It feels better when either channel point stakes are involved, or you have an option to skip back and rewatch the absolute absurdity you just saw. And then the MK guy came on stage, and said that he's 0/4 on the right guesses. Everyone wanted to hear a different number. Hah. I don't know how Sajam didn't say "That definitely killed!" after the trailer.

All three days were great. The only real dip was Strive Top 6, nothing but blowouts that were so quick you had no time to process how uninteresting they were before moving on to the next one. Which I guess is a great showcase for Strive as a game currently.
For SF6, they mentioned that the Marisa wedding outfit was going to be part of World Tour, too, I think? I'm excited for more World Tour because it was kind of stupid-incredible. I'm sad the TMNT crossover didn't have singleplayer stuff, they would have fit in without any adjustment at all.
I'm sad Evo won't be on my birthday next year (I unfortunately had to miss the legendary event this year), but if I had to wager a guess on why, it would be so that we stop having a convention the same weekend as BlackHat so the halls aren't as overrun... and Evo attendees stop getting their personal data jacked on the hotel wifi lmao. Also great job on the top 6 block, the vibes were pristine.

The cool thing about some demo lines was that they had a line for stick and a line for pad. Pad lines were way shorter~
