    Hey kids! On episode 212 of Weekend Wankshop, Uncle Ben here is going to be giving you all a primer on all things country pickin': from scale concepts to hybrid picking secrets, all will be revealed! This is a fun lick in the key of A that will show you guys a lot of the concepts you need to make your licks a little more authentic. They're all pretty basic concepts, but they really make a difference! Guys like Brad Paisley, Brent Mason, John 5, Andy Wood, and Johnny Hiland all use these ideas in their playing, so you probably should too.
    Playing my Ibanez Talman 1803M into my Kemper Profiler here. Such a cool guitar!
    Thanks for watching! What do you want to see on my channel in 2019?!? Let me know in the comments!

    Hey Ben! Cheers from Russia! Thank you for this awesome year of cool shreds, I dig your lessons so much that I actually consider you one of my guitar mentors!
    I would love to see more Megadeth stuff - they still have a whole bunch of hot riffs to decode.
    Happy New Year!

    First country scale I've seen in my whole life.

    • @CMM5300
      @CMM5300 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The actual country scale is the blues scale with a major root. Minor pent add b5/ major pent add b3. Same pattern different root. He was playing the blues scale but added 6 in the beginning. A lot of people look at major and minor as the same. In the same spot it becomes mixolydian. Hope this helps.

    I would have given this video a thumbs up IF Brent Hinds played this, but he didn’t. If the best band comprised of the best musicians in the galaxy didn’t play it, then I shouldn’t either. I may go to my grave screaming Spectrelight before you make a video about it, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice. Happy New Year. I wish you were my Uncle.

    I learned the lick. It would be good to hear it in the context of the beat and music as the rhythm is tricky. The demo at the start comes in right as the lick is being played. Would be nice to have an intro beat.

    Since you do a lot of Mastodon lessons (Mastodon is one of my biggest musical inspirations) I would love to see you do a lesson on that hybrid pick country solo Brent does live before they play Aqua Dementia. The best look at it I've got is the live video of Mastodon playing live with Scott Kelly where they play all of the songs he does quest vocals on. Its mind blowing and I have GOT to learn how to play it. It would be so awesome because I have watched your Aqua Dementia lesson and it sounds spot on! PLEEEEEAAASSSE. YOU Mr. Ben Eller have the best Mastodon guitar lessons on the internet.

    Hello. I like your teaching style. I have been playing for many years, and write my own stuff as well. what id like to know, is how to write the licks that comprise a solo..what is vexing me is, for instance, when i learn a solo by a great player ie dimebag, randy rhoads, guys that really told a story with their solos.. trying to learn some of these sections is a real bitch and id like to know how they composed them in the first place..do you think you would invent a run or pattern of notes at slow speed, then speed them up to see if they sound cool? or more likely hear something in their head and finger it out on the guitar...what has your experience been,..Ben? Thanks Steve
