      This is definitely the wrong spirit right here. Talk poorly about them and their devotion to an art, rather than recognize that it's okay to be deeply passionate about something, even if it doesn't make you a millionaire.

    Love his contagious enthusiasm on top of his virtuosity. Did I also mention that he talks very smart?

    • @AlexGordonMusic
      @AlexGordonMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Peter Ganev “very salient” ?
      “Proprietary sound” ?
      He clearly doesn’t know what those words actually mean lol

    • @johnalderon7692
      @johnalderon7692 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed. Very smart and imaginative with both his playing and vocab. What a bright and talented young dude.

    • @AlexGordonMusic
      @AlexGordonMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Toxic Potato particularly his use of proprietary makes little to no sense
      Salient, based on one of its definitions...... ok, it’s passable.
      But “guitar sounds denoting ownership” ?
      Doesn’t make an iota of sense at all lol
      What’re you, his attorney?

    • @johnalderon7692
      @johnalderon7692 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He’s saying there’s a boastfulness to this technique. A kind of inherent bravado.

    • @AlexGordonMusic
      @AlexGordonMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Peter Ganev if I own a guitar, my relationship to it is a proprietary one
      If I describe a riff as proprietary? I fail to see how that makes sense. To be charitable, maybe The specific riff being proprietary of the genre ?
      Such a weird thing to say... seems like he’s being unnecessarily verbose. If it’s not grammatically wrong, it’s certainly weird.... I’m not calling the dude a bad person, it’s just silly to me.

    When I first start playing guitar I really wanted to play bass and always had problems getting on with a pick so I developed a hybrid picking technique with my right hand and legato with my left to compensate for my alternate picking weakness. I always saw it as a handicap but then I discovered the country greats and it was a lightbulb moment. Great video Daniel and reverb!

    This guy is a G. Such a ripper and really articulate at spelling it out for us plebs. I’ve noticed that the normal speed presentation of some of his licks (on this and other vids) that he plays them different than his slow speed demonstration. It’s hard to slow down your playing once you get it down, not his fault but notice in the first lick that he hits like 3 more notes on the normal speed than the slowed down one. He has an extra second finger pluck, if you want to copy that one for extra sauciness rather than the slowed down version for us step dads

    The whole concept of "Ghost Notes" originated in drum and bugle corps where they would write flam patterns but not play the tap and only play the grace note and they were called ghost flams. a GRACE NOTE on drums is a little note 3 finger spaces above the head and are very quiet. Drummers using "ghost notes" are actually just playing little grace notes in between the regular back beat. Tap or Accent depending on your notation.

    I'm curious - you say near the beginning that you have to get used to the pick only being used for downstrokes but at around 3:20 you show a slow playthrough of a lick where you use three downstrokes for the triplet section and then when you play at full speed it looks much more like a standard down-up-down on the triplet - is that just my eyes playing tricks or are you really so other-worldly that you can play triplets at *that* speed with three downstrokes??

    What if because you alternate pick all the time you have the ability to make up strokes with the pick and add in the other fingers? I use to only play this picking style with down strokes, I learned it from listening to Jason Becker explain how he did Mozart's Symphony 25 in G. I just wondered what if you did up strokes but kept the rhythmic vibe of hybrid picking. But I am wondering if it is considered the same or is it something different?
