Did exactly what you said on my E93 using a tiny screww from a computer. Cut a bit of the plastic off, drilled a hole with a tiny drill then a larger drill so the screw simply screwed in. Put it all back together after using some vasaline spray and voila! You dear fellow are a genius.

the black bit on the slider doesn't touch with the silver arm, and I couldn't get the black slider move ,do you know what happen on my latch??
the screws rattled loose in mine, i can't open it at all to tighten them back in and don't want to brute force smash the thing open, any clues?

I undid the hinge screws under neath the glove box to create some flex and then "manipulated" the glovebox door from the left and right
