You got the hood scoops wrong. They are functional. They don't dump air directly into the intake, but they do dump air into the engine bay. If you open the hood you will see the holes on the heat shield. I own a 2018 sxt plus.
For sure! V6 engines have come a long way and can be modded to produce 600+hp. It might not sound the same as their bigger bro V8s, but that's still a lot of buff horses.
You said you didn’t like the gas cap assembly. That gas cap has significance because that is an exact retro gas cap from the old 1968-1970 Dodge Chargers. That’s why the gas cap is great and makes the car stand out. 👍
Even if its a V6 it has more than enough power to be faster than most other passenger vehicles. And it looks stunning. And its not bad on gas. And it is an extremely comfortable highway cruiser. I have an R/T myself but I still appreciate the SXT and GT for what they offer. Especially that AWD. But yes the doors can be a problem! especially at a gas station. I actually miss having the gas cap being on the passenger side on my old G8.
CONS: 10:58 That blind spot is hard to see when backing up ☹ so I can relate. Also the challenger feels heavy, so turning sharp around corners does feel rough. PROS: I have a Challenger too. As a single guy I don't need lots of space for other passengers(kids). And the trunk space is bigger than my 2014 Mustang 👍Plus the overall look of the vehicle is what ultimately drew me in.
the heavy feeling you describe is the reason i went with a challenger... as an owner of a charger as well.. you may want to consider trying Sport mode on your steering and also try switching tires... both make a difference in terms of turning corners
Had a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack and had engine problems with a constant ticking which is not normal. Apparently the V-8 Hemis have lifter issues. Sold it and bought a 2919 Challenger GT. The engine is powefull enough and I like the fact that I get 18mpg in the city as appiosed to 10 in the city. And I can use regukar gas and not high test. With fas prices spiking O'd recommend either an SXT or GT. By tge way excellentvreview.
I had a 2020 sxt plus with other upgrades. I chipped it to 370 hp. And over 300 torque. It was a beautiful car. Then I fell in love with my 2023 r/t shaker triple black. It has upgraded suspension and active exhaust. It also comes with all the track pac racing set ups. It also comes with the last call badge. All in all I love the challenger platform. Too bad the green movement people wanna get rid of internal combustion engines. They will be sorry when they realize that electric vehicles will cost more to maintain and be worst in winter and electricity will go crazy expensive
Good review. I had a 1973 Challenger with the common 318cu V8 with the slapstick auto in college. I purchased it for $2500 ion a used car lot in 1982 in Tampa to replace a Datsun B210 my folks were kind enough to give me until wrecked because a cop driving her Corvette crossed in front of me and another car. Her insurance paid me the money to buy the 73 Challenger.. .It was a non A/C equiped model in Florida. I loved that car except from June to September. lol
Thank you for enjoying the review and thank you for bringing the intakes to our attention. I did look at the scoops and thought they were solid plastic with no venting slits, but I did do some research online and it looks like I didn't look carefully enough and they are technically functional.
@@imagineautos6895 I had the 2018 sxt and now the 2017 rt which has the same hood. I thought the scoops weren't functional either for the longest time until I had a closer look. Keep up the great content:)
We didn't have a chance to really put that to the test and it feels like 6.3sec seems a more realistic time for 0-60mph. We mentioned the specs was what was listed on the Dodge website for the 5.3secs.
Wohaaaa I have to say what I’m most impressed with (I own a 2020 Challenger SXT with 4WD) is how you can set the fuel range!!! I’ve only seen that in Chargers but not challengers! Thanks a bunch man
I “debadged” my granite gray sxt. I took all the badging off the car and it looks better that way. I blacked out the grill and put smoked headlight covers over the front turn signals giving it that 1970 Cuda look. I painted the rear transom matte black so the car has a much more sinister look. Simple but effective ways to update these to look less generic.
same, try driving it in Manual mode with Autostick.. gets you better fuel efficiency if you keep rpms at a minimum and you are in better control of the gearbox
If Dodge offered a manual, they would have huge sales of them! I know I'd run out n buy one without hesitation! Wonder why they didn't? It's still a great ride!
They do have manual options, I recommend having your a good dealership help you order yours through the Dodge Website. I’m learning how to drive a manual myself

Nice review. I’m curious to know what car(s) you feel the STX competes with? I drove the RT on an East Coast road trip a few years ago, and I agree that the ride is comfortable. I would also be interested to know what kind of real-world gas mileage you saw on your trip.
It competes directly with the Chevy Charger and Ford Mustang. We were getting the combined highway and City MPG of 23mpg during the two weeks we were driving it.
The biggest thing I don't like about Challengers is that they feel unstable in a straight line. I have the R/T with the track pack. It's passible with that package but the stripped down model just feels like an old luxury car. The Challenger is somehow better on curves than you would think though. So it's strange. Also, the R/T has a dead feeling gas pedal. You need to have it in sport mode and put it down a bit to get it to go, but it's really fast from a dead stop once you do that. From a roll the transmission gives out on mine, so you have to take it easy at a roll.
Buy a peddle commander for 300 bucks, I had the same issue with having to put your foot down, I know exactly what you’re talking about, and that device completely Solved the problem
Thank you for watching. We tested the forehead and chest for the action camera and the chin was the best angle, but there is another angle we can try next time.

The gas cap on the originals had a spring, it wasn't one piece like the newer models. I had a '72 and a '73.
Never had issues with Parking till now 😅

can you change the doors and side view mirrors? I don't like the door handle position and the mirrors look small and long for some reason :s

three girls fit in the backseat... thin ones tho
The 3.6 comes alive at 3k rpms if you need to get going the V8 is just a gas guzzler
confirmed... sensing a fellow autostick driver
You can fit three people in the trunk if you break all their elbows and knees first.
If they could add the GT's AWD with even the R/T's V8 and transmission I would buy it in an instant.
