- If there is any structure that mirrors the resilient spirit of the people of Bago City in Negros Occidental, then it would be Balay ni Tan Juan, the ancestral home of the Negrense revolutionary hero Gen. Juan Araneta. Officially called the General Juan Araneta Residence and Landmark Museum, the imposing heritage house has stood the test of time. And today, it has become one of the city's most important landmarks.

i just wish all historical landmark like Balay ni Tan Juan, Aniceto Lacson presidential building will be transferred together and set together at the Ruins with a beautiful landscape, it will be a provincial highlights
Those buildings, if found and restored insitu will be more historically significant

These families like the Aranetas were the ones who conquered and robbed the natives of their lands.Until this day, these hacienderos were living a lavish life whilst there workers like the sakadas still remain the poorest poor!
is the house open to the public?
If ever you are able to visit the house, the rule is not to touch anything there, like furniture. When I was there as a visitor, I violated this rule and experienced something spooky after I returned to Bacolod City. As a result I never went back. I think it's a haunted house.
