    just for info, i have a house of up and down with 6 rooms were made of steel structure(H beam) for post and beam. I happened to be working in an construction engineering firm. so i got a lot of help from my fellow engineer for the design and construction. The result was cheaper and fast construction(less curing time for cement). You are correct, if the project is just a small scale project, It is cheaper than RCC.

    Okay po ang discussion na ito and very clear and informative. I think kulang lang sa details ng pinagka-iba sa strength. Totoo na mas mataas and tensile strength ng steel beams/columns pero mas mataas naman ang compressive strength ng concrete compared sa steel kaya ito din ang ginagamit na foundation. Pwedeng mag buckling and bending ang steel kung masyadong mabigat ang load.

    • @romyriwayan
      @romyriwayan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      1. Considered negligible ang tensile strength ng concrete kasi kapag nag crack na, virtually wala na syang tensile resistance, kaya nilalagyan sya ng rebars para saluhin ang tensile stresses.
      2. Mas mataas ang compressive strength ng steel kesa sa concrete, hindi nga lang practical kasi mas mahal ang structural steel, kaya mas economical ang concrete kung permitted naman ng design intention na gamitin ang RCC.
      3. The main reason why concrete ang ginagawang foundation ay dahil sa resistance nito sa chemical attacks underground. Hindi dahil mas mataas ang kanyang compressive strength over steel which is false in the first place.
      4. Ang buckling ay walang kinalaman sa materyales, ito ay solely dependent sa slenderness ng structural member, ibig sabihin, yung laki ng cross sectional dimension niya in comparison to the unsupported length ng column or any structural member under compression. In short, mas mahaba, mas malaki dapat ang section para hindi magbuckle.

    Hi sir, yung bilis ng pag gawa sir cguro is base sa kung papano gagawin ang isang proyekto. sa iyong palagay at sa iyong experience, mas mabilis ang RCC. Share ko lang din po, na base nama sa experienced ko mas mabilis ang steel structure for the following reasons.
    1. Once na meron na po tayong for construction drawing, pwede na po tayo mag purchase ng structural steel member.
    2. Habang naghuhukay po tayo ng pundasyon, pwede na natin isabay ang fabrication ng mga steel frames since offsite naman sya gagawin.
    3. Once cured na ang pedestal, it takes only an hour or two at maitatayo na natin ang steel columns using mobile or tower crane whereas kung RCC column, bago tayo makabuhos kelangan natin atleast 2 day ( pinakamabilis ) . 1 day for rebar erection including stirrups , 1 day for column forms including shoring and allignment. Same as through with beams. If RCC beam, lalo na kung malalaki ang beam, need natin muna prepare ang base para sa shoring bago pa tayo makapaglagay ng scaffolding, bottom forms and rebars. If Steel, oras lang din po, ok na.
    4. isa pa din po factor kaya mabagal ang RCC is yung sinasabi mo na QC.., since marami tayo kelangan check sa RCC, like spacing of stirrups, concrete cover, vertical allignment , etc..nakaka affect din po sa schedule., whereas kung steel, once ok ang materials, only welding ang need na test.

    Depende iyan sa design ng structure at anong klaseng structure ang itatayo at anon purpose ng structure na itatayo at tapos susunod ang costing ng materials ang gagamitin, hindi puede tipirin àng designed structure dapat laging isaalang alang ang safety ng mangangagawa at at integrity ng structure pag tapos na ang project, responsibilidad ng lahat ng gumawa ng structure ang safety at integrity ng project. BAWAL ANG PATAMA SA TRABAHO. GUMAWA NG TAMA AT HUWAG MAGPATAMA, BAGUHIN NYO UGALI NG MGA PILIPINO MANGAGAWA AT TANGALIN ANG UGALING PATAMA SA TRABAHO, KAHIT ANONG GANDA NG DESIGN PAG ANG TRABAHO AY SINAMAHAN NG PATAMA SIGURADO, MAHINA ANG PAGKAGAWA NG STRUCTURE NA IYAN, PATAMA HABITS DESTROY THE QUALITY AND INTEGRITY OF WORKMANSHIP.

    • @dep1912

      Dami kasi reklamador na workers puro paubos lang ng oras. Imagine mo ung nagpagawa ng bahay ay kuskos inidoro sa abroad tapos ung mga construction workers na gagawa ay 6 na tao di pa naitayo ang isang poste sa isang araw kahit may hukay na at nakaready na materyales. Nagkkwentuhan lang at nagyoyosi sa site. Tapos ang mga ugali nila kahit above minimum ang sahod feeling nila ginugulangan pa din sila. Ang taas ng sahod per day pero wala naman output or minimal output per day. Yan ang katotohanan.

    Problema p s steel structural kailan mo ng magandang access s chain block at lever block. At kung malalaking steel structural ung install mo kailangan mo ng heavy lifting equipment. Gaya ng Crane at lorry crane. Gusto mo ung mga bolting ay matibay. Kailan mo pneumatic or air impact wrench or hydraulic bolt tensioner. Hindi maganda kung manual tensioning s mga bolting ng steel structural. kasing s mga vibration madaling luluwag ung mga bolt. kaya lng kailangan din ma-ingat kung gagamit kau ng pneumatic or air impact wrench or hydraulic bolt tensioner. May tendency matutol ung bolt. Bases lng po s experience s oil and gas industry

    Para sa akin, mas applicable ang steel frame, dahil malindol sa Pinas at laban sa anay, bukbok at sunog, bagyo. Sa RCC, malaki chansa na mag crack ang walls o poste kung may lindol at settling ng foundation during rainy seasons due to expansion and contraction in wet and dry season sa Pinas. Kung one or two storey houses ay pwede rin ang metal framing using 2x4 preformed GI prepunched hole for electrical and plumbing purposes. Easy to cut, using rotary metal cutters. Easy to install using bullet nailing. Yun ang sa akin opinyon.

      Check first the design load of your existing house. If it is designed for two-storey, we may use bolts and nuts to connect reinforced concrete (RC) to steel framing.

    Depende at kung saan lugar ka magpapatayo ng bahay at kung anong klaseng bakal ang gagamitin mo. Kasi pag mqgpapatayo ka ng bahay na malapit ka sa dagat . Hindi uubra ang bakal dahil madaling kalawangin gaya ng mga barko 15 years lang kailangan na ng repair . So mas maganda parin ang concrete kaysa sa steel.

    Engineer - very informative channel. Keep it up. I have a question. Here in the US most houses use wood frame construction and I notice they are able to finish a single story house in 3-4 months. They use RCC only for the slab and footing. They then use wood frames with a type of plywood for exterior and dry wall for the inside with insulation in between. Is this method applicable in the Philippines? If not, why? Thanks.

    • @INGENIEROTV
      @INGENIEROTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Jun Lua Pwde naman sa pilipinas yan kaso mas mahal kasi ang kahoy sa pilipinas kesa sa US. kaya halos timber ang gamit sa US sa framing nila. Ang pag kakaiba lang sa pilipinas sa US pag ang ginamit mo ay drywall sa lahat ng partition mo at timber ang value ng property mo ay mura samantala sa US kahit drywall mahal parin ang value nya. Pero sa pilipinas mas practical parin concrete ang gamitin mo.

    No doubt about it Steel Structures Constructions are much way, much better than Reinforced Concrete Constructions
    1. Design phase :
    Steel design is much faster when comes to calculations, details and engineering. preparations of construction documents and cost estimate are much easier to processed. Unlike conventional concrete construction has more design, detailed engineering cost estimates and schedules and target completion
    2. Steel structures fabrications and erections are almost an all weather activities less or non wasted time and materials
    3. Lesser manpower than conventional R.C. construction
    4. Time of construction completion is faster than the conventional concrete. especially delays due to weather or handling and control of the concrete system.
    5. Steel a Much orderly and neater of construction activities. Concrete and related materials are cumbersome to handle and much tideous activities.
    6. Steel Structures are much better to withstand siesmic situations ( earthquakes) as steel are elastic by it's composition.and can be salvage and recycled, unlike concrete structures can disentegrate.
    Now it's all up to the prime movers or proponents of the industry to opt in the selection for the medium of construction.
    The main ingredients are sane cost and delivery.

There are several leading steel structures manufacturers now in the Philippines, plus various neighboring countries are very competitive in supplying..
      So steel structures members are available, unlike in the 90's when I was the project manager of the first all steel structures construction in the city of Baguio, the first true shopping center in the city,, The Baguio Center Mall.
