I am a third generation Spanish/ Portuguese Negrense. Being born and raised In Bacolod city I can truly say that this island is very rich in history. My grandparents were all born in 1890's and theyre all Iberians. We are the Campos's of Pontevedra which in ancient times called Marayo. Thanks for sharing this part of Negrense history. Muchas gracias! Muito obrigado!
This video is so important. Got teary eyed and heartfelt gratitude of being Negrosanon. This house represents who we are, let us embrace and celebrate it.
Wow! Irrefutably, a grand masterpiece of a colonial house with such a sublime architecture! And yes, I have to agree that our government should also consider stepping in to help restore infrastructures such as this, not only because it's a well-known house, or a landmark, but it's also because of its historical value that has great significance to the face of our country's cultural heritage. I think GALAH is doing a great job here and I hope many people -- be it from the government or private sector, would come to support causes like this. Probably, Architect Jose "Jerry" Acuzar (Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar) could also help (with the consultancy) to bring back the Casa Grande to its former glory. PS: I am really glad I came across this content and was thrilled to see you -- Nena Rossellos! I didn't know you're one of the great granddaughters of Gen. Aniceto Lacson, til I saw this. I hope all's well there in Negros. (Greetings from Subic Bay in Olongapo City where you once visited.)
I agree Tito, Titas such a grand ancestral house. There's many in Negros and Iloilo. Sayang talaga if we just let the termites enjoy its glory. Historical pa po yang bahay nyo kilangan talaga e preserve. Mahirap lng kami maliit lang bahay namin nahirapan pa nga ako mgpa renovate. Wala ding nka Tira. Just for the legacy sake of my parents too. Hope the government hears you. Good luck po. Yang mansion sa Iloilo Ledesma mansion din po ata I hope e restore din nila. Napaka halaga kasi it stands out the minute you pass by. Good luck po.
Love at first sight when I visited in 1976. There was this chapel on the left side after entering the main door, full of beautiful religious treasures.
Hanep talaga. These plantation owners own that house. That’s the house they grew up in and they let it fall into disrepair. I’m sure they have the funds for it but they want us to foot the bill for its restoration. Nice.
Its a pity that a lot of our cultural heritage were neglected...restoration with the help of our government is one way or the other is the key to bring back the old glory of our ancestral houses to show case this generation and the future generation the value, the importance and the richness of our heritage and culture, and the european influence brought about during the 15th up to the late 18th ce.ntury.
Ms. Anna Balcells is an admirable woman. She dedicates her life to helping others, especially children. Ms. Rosello is a very beautiful, attractive lady and comforts herself with grace. Yes, I think the government should help restore, maintain and make the place available to the public for the sake of history.
Sadly, that might not happen 😢 Many beautiful, significant and historical landmarks and buildings destroyed for the sake of commercialization and "money" 😱😭
I absolutely believe and agree with what you are saying..indeed,it's our national heritage..very historical and deserves to be restored for us and for the next generations..I'm a concerned citizen from Davao City..😇🙏💫💥💯💢
Amazing. Please bring it back to life, a heritage museum or a hotel (like The Blue Mansion, Cheong Fatt Tze, in Penang, Georgetown, Malaysia). I want to visit Bacolod again.
We pray that the government and NGOs support the preservation of this house and others like it for future Filipinos. It is indeed a national treasure. 🇵🇭
These symbolic locations are the most interesting for dating virtual new friends, maybe for an open air cinema show or a picnic in the park, learning more from the Historic facts and building up a better future together, thank you sharing guys

I am also making a video from my experience of this place as I was passing through. God Bless in your task ahead.
Perhaps the Department of Education for example can include this historical monument and what it stands for in the history classes so more people learn about it.
very nice work i know how much time and effort needed to produce this kind of documentary, i hope you can cover more buildings in your future episodes, because i love ancestral houses
These are the true Insulares of Spanish ancestries that governed the sugar mills of the South in the 1600s. You can spot the alta ciudad personality on how they articulate the history of a proud city in Negros.
Was this filmed in 2021? or filmed way prior and released in 2021? As I see Ms. Anna expressed with deep sincerity of how this ancestral home needs preservation. Yet lack of support from the government moved me with so many question as to why we let this grandeur fell apart? Can someone inform me how to get a hold of GALA particularly Ms. Anna Balcells (I believe the name of the President). Thank you.
I've been fascinated by this house ever since I saw it featured in "Philippine Ancestral Houses" (Zialcita and Tinio, 1980), but I've never actually visited it. Will it be possible to enter, once mobility restrictions are eased in the post-pandemic era?
I never knew in history that there was a Negros Republic the goverment should include this in history book and the house needs immediate restoration a beatiful historical house full of history and architecturally significant in the evolution of Philippine architecture
Bakit kaya hindi kabilang ang 'The Ruins' o Lacson Mansion sa Talisay City din sa koleksyon ng sugar heritage trail na nakatala para gawing World Heritage Site?
If the family refuses to spend for its restoration, then give it to the LGU so it can be restored and can become a tourist area. It will earn money. Even though they lose ownership, their name/ their family reputation will live for generations.
Good day! We will check with the family first and will give you an update! :) Visit our website for more stories about heritage structures. www.negrosseasonofculture.com/
The house need to restore because it symbolize our history during Spaniards which is rich of history and culture and pride of negros and the entire Philippines as well...
20 years Ago I was In That Place with A co CityhaLL Employee Jude Sombero . We Were Received By Monks ? Men In TypicaL brown Robes . They Have A prayer Room and They Occupy The Place . They Operate A Printing Machine. The House Is Well And Good.
Okay, I finished watching the video. So, the family intends to preserve. With government funding, the restored property can earn by making it a tourist attraction similar to the Ruins. Of course, the revenue shared by the family and the LGU.
There are several Ive seen gone and beyond repair and restoration. Our past governments did not really put too much attention to matters that they think will not add up to their administrations priority projects. Patriotism is definitely an understatement and every time ancestry is at stake, we cant really care for lack of interest and maybe funding ( importance).
The aristocrats here in Britain who could no longer maintain their ancestral houses just donates it to the Royal Trust. Sometimes, if they get lucky ,they can still live in the property.
why can't the local gov't with the help from the national gov't fund the restoration of a historical buildings? i hope with the incoming of the new administration will notice this video
THE HOUSE SHOULD BE RESTORE TO ITS ORIGINAL ANG RETURN THE FURNITURES. IT WILL EARN MONEY FROM THE TOURISTS. IT CAN BE DONE. ALSO THE ARANETA, LEDESMA, LACSON FAMILIES HAS MONEY TO FUND THE RESTORATION. SANA MATULOY ANG RESTORATION TULAD NG BAHAY NI GEN AGUINALDO.
Is Gen Aniceto, Spanish ? and he fought against Spanish Empire during PH revolution ?? his heirs are mestizos and mestizas. If there is Govt Historical landmarkers, the Govt will do the restoration, it should be the Negros LGU I think or Historical Commission ? but the property should be surrendered to the Govt isnt it ? And they will turn it into museum for Tourism or rent out some space for Cafes & restaurant. Does that farm still grows for sugar plantation ? Why not grow other crops lile Cacao or Mangoes or strawberries, etc. Or just sell it than let the land go idle & unproductive.
Lacson is chinese mestizo not spanish. The spaniards are mainly poor and married to rich and entrepreneurial chinese so their offsprings are obviously became mestizo or spanish looking.
