    Husband is kicking around getting an '18 Forester XT Touring, thanks for this info. If we get it, he and my brother can have a WRX v Forester XT Touring time trial! LOL!

    75? It's been 30-40 degrees here. And yes, Discount Tire is pretty awesome!!! That's where I go for my tires. That is, If I don't get them from Tire Rack. Please Keep the Subie.. Wait, did you say it's paid off?? FOR SURE!! You have to keep it, Lou.... Thanks for the Forester update.. I have been asking for it as well lol
    You and your family, Stay safe out there..

      It is paid off. I'm just worried about the high miles on it. Of course if I only put 10-12,000 miles a year on it from here on out...then I still should have plenty of years left I imagine. :) Be safe too.

    I am seriously considering purchasing a used 2018 Touring XT, since they are finally starting to come down in price. A year ago they were priced at $35k and up, even with high mileage, but lately I'm seeing listings in my region with below 35,000 miles in the upper $20s. Many of them have been sitting in inventory for 2 months or more, so I'm sure I can negotiate down even more. It's really nice to see that even high mileage examples are still loved by their owners and that there doesn't seem to be any noteworthy reliability issues with these. I had a 2019 WRX with this same engine and it was superb in that format as well. I am excited to pick one up!

      Yea. I really liked my Forrester XT touring. It was a great car and I had no major issues at all. The only money I put into it was oil changes and maintenance. I’d definitely recommend one. Actually, if Subaru still had the Forrester in XT I probably would have bought another one of those instead of the Wilderness I just bought.

    • @dlg5485

      @@BMSLou That is the same dilemma I had. I actually ordered a 2023 Forester Touring, but I decided to cancel it due to the under-powered engine option. Now I hope to find a nice low mile 2018 Touring XT at a good price.

    I have a 2016 Subaru Forester XT and I love it. I bought it used 5 months ago with only 23K miles on it. That's rare to find a vehicle with low miles like that. I thought about getting the current generation Foresters but they killed the turbo when the 2019 came out. On top of that, they have that annoying start/stop feature which you can turn it off, but you have to do it every time you start the car. So far I've had no issues with my Forester. I love the power and how it accelerates quickly when you really need to get going like getting on the highway from the exit ramp.

    60k mile package is nuts. Some of the stuff you dont really need to do at 60k. Its a good idea. However, $1100 is cheaper than $10,000 for a new CVT or $4500 for a new engine.....I am still driving my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT with a 5EAT @ 190k miles... They last, with maintenance. I've only changed brake fluid once in the 10yrs i've had it. Had transmission & Diff fluid changed twice and done the timing belt/Water pump and tensioner once. I am looking at buying a Low Milage 2018 Forester XT here soon. I've found a few, with under 30k miles for $27k

    Hey brother! I bought a Forester -18 last week. Love it! I got the 2.0 without turbo. Would you recommend to do the oilchange every ~7000miles (about 1.000km), to keep the engine fresh? :) a friend of mine told me to do so but i also want second opinions! Thanks in advance. Great video also, thank you! 😄

      Congrats on your Forester. Awesome. Thanks for the kind words too. Mine is still going strong. I am now at 98, 000 miles on my 2018 XT. LOL. I do my oil changes about every 7000-9000 miles because I drive a lot of highway and not a lot in town. I haven't had any issues to date still as well. Good luck with yours.....I'm still liking mine. :)

    Just picked up a used 2018 Forester XT Touring. At how many miles did you replace the tires? Did you notice any change in the ride after buying discount tires? Thanks.

    • @BMSLou
      @BMSLou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I replaced my original tires at right about 65k. I mentioned the ties I went to in this specific video and I did not noted much of a difference in the ride and I drove about 600-700 a week with them and the original ones. I did a lot of highway driving.

    • @MOMalleyd64
      @MOMalleyd64 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BMSLou That's helpful info, thanks. My 2018 has 44K miles. It's our second XT in the family (which has 23K miles), and when the tires are viewed side by side they look fairly similar. It's helpful to know that I probably don't need to think about running out and replacing them.

    Hi there, I'm planning to get a 2014 Forester XT. May I know what are the common problems or issues I will encounter when owning / driving this car?

    • @BMSLou
      @BMSLou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still have mine in this video. It's a 2018 and I have 91xxx miles on it. Still no issues to date for me what so ever.

      Air conditioner condenser and front bushings are very common issues (top 2) with all Subaru products. I have a 2015 with only 70K kilometers on it. I've gone through 2 sets of bushings and 1 condensor. In my old WRX I went through 2 condensors and 2 sets of front bushings. I'm sure you asking if this is a known issue why doesn't subaru install better parts... damn good question!!

  • @dlg5485
    @dlg5485 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you observed any oil consumption or any notable mechanical issues at all? My WRX with the same engine never burned any oil in the 40,000 miles I owned it. Loved that engine! As for the maint cost, you should really consider doing your own. You don't have to be an expert mechanic to work on this vehicle and it will save you lots of money. That said, I get that not everyone is interested in doing that kind of stuff.

    • @BMSLou
      @BMSLou  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t have any oil issues at all or mechanical. Only put money into car for maintenance. I work away from home 3 days every week so I just don’t have time to do maintenance or a garage. I’m in an apartment. Loved my XT tho. More space.. and same great engine as my 2016 WRX that I owned.

    Hate to break it to you but all internal combustion engines require a major service at 60k. Yours was cheaper than mine. I have a 2017 Forester premium non-turbo and it was $1500.00 for my 60k service but I had to replace my rear brakes at that time.

    I own a 2015 xt Touring and love it so much I’m actually buying a 2018 xt touring this week. I have to tell you this and I’m not trying to be rude but please, please, please do not buy a Kia. Although they have made improvements since they first came to market kia’s are not even close to the build quality of a Subaru. In my honest opinion Subaru is one of the best made vehicles out there and I think I will be hard-pressed to buy anything else other than a Subaru ever again. I have owned Honda, Toyota, subaru, Bmw, Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Jeep So most major brands on the market. My father bought a brand new Kia back in 2016 and has had nothing but problems with it. I called them the imitator. Both them and Hyundai seem to have a knack of imitating other well-made cars such as BMW or the Subaru Forrester. They are a lot cheaper but they just do not have the build quality or longevity. If I was to ever consider buying a Kia it would probably be at least 10 years from now. If I were you I would keep the Subaru and pay it off if it’s not already paid off and drive it to the wheels fall off because you will get at least 200,000 miles out of it if you take care of it but probably closer to 300,000 miles. Thanks for reading this and again I mean no disrespect. I just don’t want to see you by a Kia and realize 1 to 2 years in that things start to fail. They’ve recently released a warning to everybody that owns a Kia not to park them in the garage because they might catch on fire. I have not checked the legitimacy of the claim yet but that is a scary thing to know that somebody’s garage or house has burned down because of this car. I will actually check the legitimacy today and if it is true I will not add to this post but it is not true I will come back and correct it. Have a great day and thanks for posting your video.

      Really appreciate your in site. I do kinda like Kia's, but for now, sticking with my XT. I'm still at 91xxx miles and I really hope I can get 300K from this car. At my rate, that could be another 10 years. Car is already paid off too...so it is nice not haivng any payments. Good luck with your xt too. ;)
