1. Nobody says that products that are not for “black hair care” can actually work wonders for your hair better than “the black hair care” products and are a great deal cheaper 😳. 2. Nobody tells you that once you learn your hair porosity--the game is changed. Choosing products gets so much better. Hair care also gets much better. 3. Nobody tells you that going back to old school hair care keeps our hair growing (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in/pink lotion 😂, oil or grease). 4. Nobody tells you that the wash day does not have to take all day 😒 5. Nobody tells you that you will get tired of getting pimped by “black hair care products”😢 6. Nobody tells you that all of the loving care is worth it when you wear your big beautiful fro/crown out. The love and beauty pops all day long--everything is worth it. 7. Nobody tells you that your daughter will come to have so much pride in her natural crown because you lovingly take care of her natural hair and yours. When we know better we do better. 😉✌🏾
Yooooooo it's been 4 years for me and I still have one! The back of my hair grows twice as fast as the top so I'm constantly trimming the back to try to even it out🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
One thing I wish I would of known going natural in 2014 is that just Bc the hairstylist is black doesn’t mean they will know how to do your texture hair.
A lot of natural hair youtubers made me feel as if my hair would only be beautiful if it was long and that growing inches is the sole purpose of going natural. But in actuality, it’s so important to love your hair at every stage
Exactly. It’s not about length, it’s about health! The media and people on social media glorify long natural hair when in reality, all natural hair should be glorified
*ALSO* most "famous" natural hair TH-camrs have *ONE* curl pattern on their head. Baby doll, let me tell you I got like 4 different curl patterns *AND* I have *BOTH* fine and thick hair. The whole top of my head has less hair (I'm not going bald) and it looks so weird to have so much volume on the bottom half of my head but the top half is just *FLAT* like a pancake!
THIS!! Coming from a 3B, 3C, 4A, & 4B sis, I couldn't agree more 😣 & I have weird 2B strands (straight when wet but wavy when dry) in random areas too so you know the struggle is very real for WNGs 😩
I have mostly wavy hair but the back of my head is completely straight and thicker but the front part is 2B-2C and fine. I don't know what to do with it
Riana Grace how do you do that?? I’m 13 and I’m tryna go natural (I used relaxer) and lmao my family does not support it (they constantly call me dumb or say it is a phase..wtf) so like I’m on my own rn and depend on people from the internet...
How about the fact that for some naturals, as hair grows, the curls becomes tighter and more springy, giving the appearance of shorter hair and lost length. For the past few months I've been focusing on the health of my hair, and the shrinkage has been incredible.
Some of the TH-camrs would have their hair in a style for weeks then act like only 3 strands of hair came out. I thought something was wrong with me😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Love your channel Hannah, take care😘
Try one of the Aussie conditioners (purple bottle) on hair before you detangle w/ a plastic cap while you do chores. Detangle, twist, wash, deep condition (keep hair twisted), rinse, **GAME CHANGER--put leave-in on hair while still in the shower, then a plastic cap. Continue with your self-care routine and some other chores around the house. Go through your hair-- makes your hair so much easier to deal with. TH-cam has videos on this. GL ✌🏾
So true! I actually find it much more affordable than when I was relaxed but mostly because I now do my own hair so my coins get stashed for new products whenever necessary 😉
My biggest thing I struggle with is that awkward phase after you big chop. Like people only show their hair just after they cut it all of and when it’s suddenly at their shoulders. That stage when your hair is still too short for most style options but too long to just wash and go all the time. My hair is roughly 6/7 inches now and I want to braid it up but don’t always want to deal with braiding hair and the time it takes to do it. I love my hair just don’t always want to do it.
You know one thing that kinda annoy's me is that when youtubers covering natural hair recommend products that promise it will improve hair growth and does this and that But don't all the products promise that tho😂🤷🏾♀️ Anyways what I'm trying to say is just because the product works for them does not mean it will work for you find a product for your type of hair
Gucci Tae never trust someone that says a hair product can grow their hair unless it’s and oil or scalp serum cos 9/10 it doesn’t GROW the hair, it just reduces the damage
I js watch TH-camr hair routines for fun 😂 best advice u can get is to follow your own hair path don't bother with what they say and what they recommend because most of the time those videos are paid sponsorships .
Oiling your hair, protective styling or using gel reduces single strand knots! I was so happy when I figured out this and now I rarely get them. Just keep my hair stretched in one style per week till wash day
Coconut oil keeps moisture in your hair so if you use it after your products, it will add a layer that will help keep those products hydrating your hair. There are tons of better oils to actually moisturize your hair but coconut is just a protective layer.
Princess Yonna ♡ thats a good question. i hope they throw them away. All of their products are a little more expensive than everyone else so im assuming thats how they can afford to do that
No one told me that not everyone has thick hair. I was over here thinking I’d have amazingly thick hair and it just didn’t happen no matter what I’ve done.
That’s true my curls used to be so tight and now they are much more loose. My curl pattern is different and I still cant 100% identify which curl pattern I have. But, I did think that because my hair pattern changed that it was considered damaged
Not everyone has spiral beautiful curls. The top of my head is Wavy at best and the sides are curly, and there’s nothing wrong with it that’s just the way my hair is.
i agree with u. my hair is at bra strap length right now and my staple products are a leave in, and oil, and maybe a styling cream/gel. have to find what works for u
That shit is expensive as hell. My conditioner is $17 and it’s the ONLY one that has helped my hair for over 6 months. Camille Rose milk is $13, and eden body works Shea soufflé is $9. Those are only the essentials, not including shampoo and styling products. Not a junkie at all, I’ve been using the same regimen for over a year now. Blue magic is the cheapest thing. I just bought a bottle of Aussie to see if I can use it as a cheaper conditioner alternative, it has great slip
So I don’t know which TH-camr told me this, but I can’t find their account anymore...but she basically told me to trim my hair every week( meanwhile your meant to trim your hair twice or three times a year but I didn’t know that )and I did that for a solid 3 months...the amount of hair I could’ve had...I could’ve had shoulder length hair...but no, my dumbass decided to listen🙄
My hair does not like coconut oil at all. I love our hair we can do so much with it (man or woman girls and boys) then we take it down or shampoo it start over again with a simple pony tail, brush back or something beautiful and amazing. You know you've been blessed with something when laws are starting to be passed because of it. Hot Dog !! Keep The content coming baby girl. I'm listening. We hear you. I hear you.
I love this video.Me I’m like 2 different texture a 4c in the back and 3a I’m still confused with these hair categories and it’s probably looser up front because that’s the hair I usually color .I love being natural but it’s definitely a struggle. And yes I was definitely a product junkie and sometime I fall back in that junkie category. No one told us it was going to be this hard and this is still after 5yrs of me growing my hair than tapered cuts than growing that out now back to tapered I will eventually figure this out one day I’m not giving up just yet
@Araminta M U can rock some crochet braids for a while & redo every 3 weeks while taking a 1 week break so your hair can grow and retain length while waiting on your texture to finally reveal itself 😉 just bear in mind that texture/curl pattern does change as hair gets longer mostly due to gravity 😊
@Araminta M Araminta M I know what you mean especially about the products... I really can't help too much there because everyone's hair reacts differently to different products... however, I do know that if you have fine strands, try to avoid products that weigh down your hair unless that's the look you're going for... I'm high density with fine strands so I usually use heavier products as I'm more into definition than volume... on the protein treatment, I say go for it but ensure you're not protein sensitive (my hair loves rice water & coconut oil treatments on a weekly basis) but ofc balance is key i.e. follow-up moisturiser... I don't really fancy the idea of cutting bangs so I usually pin mine because when I do low buns, my hair doesn't try to "escape" as it's still long enough to reach the back which I prefer... I'm no expert but that's just my 2 cents & an e-book (sorry but I only just realised how much I wrote) 😂
Oh! I forgot to add/mention this in my initial reply but you can check your texture when you've just finished washing your hair & it's left with absolutely no products while 70 to 80% soaked with just water... at least that how I test mine every few months or so
@Araminta M No prob my fellow naturalista 😄 we're all on this journey together, just moving at different paces & getting different views 😊 I really enjoyed chatting/sharing with you 😃 take care & be safe 🤗
& please keep me updated on your rice water challenge! Really hope it works! Just don't overdo it & you'll be OK 😊 Also, I've heard flaxseed gel doesn't have that much of a crunch but I'm yet to attest to it & confirm for myself... but if you decide to try it out or get through to it before I do, lemme know how it goes 😊
Nobody told Y’all that using natural products and making your own hair products is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying products from the store. Bulk buy Shea butter and castor oil if you’re 4c High porosity, that all you need and you can even use the Shea butter on your body too. And for you fave brand of shampoo and conditioner go to the manufacturers website and bulk buy a big container of them. Or you can DIY the shampoo with raw african black soap that you can dilute with water (because it’s really strong) etc. So far this year I’ve spent less than $150 dollars on hair products and my conditioner , shampoo and oils and Shea butter are only half way through!!
Cantu is known for not being the best since it had alcohol. It’s recommended not to use but if it works for your hair then go ahead. It personally broke my hair and made me big chop
I have 3c in the front...4A in the middle and 4B in the back and I recently did the big chop so my 3c curls is at bang length but I don't know what products to use for my 3C and 4A curls that will define it but not weigh it down and not make it freezy. I only know how to define the back tbh. I need help lmao
Coconut oil doesn’t dry me out but it just does nothing for me. I literally feel like after I rinse off the hot oil treatment the oil just goes down the drain and didn’t go inside my hair 💔
Nobody told me from the start using 100% natural ingredients is really all you need, I'm talking aloe, hibiscus, moringa, fenugreek, etc, and making your own products for your hair is best.
I’ve been natural for 9 yrs and for 8 yrs it didn’t grow it stayed the same length. I wish a TH-camr had talked about the porosity and talked about styles that help w that specific porosity. I have low porosity 2B, 3A, 3B texture hair. Why I gotta use 3 different products in 3 diff sections 😩.
Mz_Kemi J Go to Green Beauty on TH-cam. This tuber puts the science into her videos. A wonder that her channel is not bigger. Using science and technique to deal with hair, not just expensive products. Good luck✌🏾
Hi. I like to do an egg mask that only contain an egg as a protein treatment before shampooing. do I have to shampoo my BEFORE the mask to get rid of the sealant oils so the protein can penatrate the hair or nah?
Shrinkage gets me confused about how big/long/thick my hair has gotten cause you could have a massive fro at first but the next day its smaller😵 and im too scared to straighten aaakakakaksk
@@HannahMussette That's crazy. I didn't know that. I tried Cantu ONE time . I put a cream on a section of my hair and my hair instantly felt like straw ! I was so nervous - I washed that stuff out my hair so fast and return it to the store. Never again Cantu. I'll stick with my Camille Rose

Danny's Flow thank you 💕😊
@@HannahMussette you kinda look like Sophia Loren when she was young
Nobody told me after doing a egg and mayo protein treatment my hair would become damaged
Princess Yonna ♡ your hair might be protein sensitive
Hi love your channel and hoping to start one myself what camera do u use it has great quality.❤️❤️
I did a big chop but can't find the right hair food, Help😔 Sumone I'm a 3c
I’ve been natural for 9 yrs and for 8 yrs it didn’t grow it stayed the same length. I wish a TH-camr had talked about the porosity and talked about styles that help w that specific porosity. I have low porosity 2B, 3A, 3B texture hair. Why I gotta use 3 different products in 3 diff sections 😩.
Mz_Kemi J Go to Green Beauty on TH-cam. This tuber puts the science into her videos. A wonder that her channel is not bigger. Using science and technique to deal with hair, not just expensive products. Good luck✌🏾
why shouldn’t we use cantu?
Gabby F it has alcohol in it and it dries your hair out
J Untenique what happens if you use the sulfate free one though?

Hi. I like to do an egg mask that only contain an egg as a protein treatment before shampooing. do I have to shampoo my BEFORE the mask to get rid of the sealant oils so the protein can penatrate the hair or nah?
Nah you don't need to
Shrinkage gets me confused about how big/long/thick my hair has gotten cause you could have a massive fro at first but the next day its smaller😵 and im too scared to straighten aaakakakaksk
What's wrong with Cantu lol, so many have said it's great

The people that hate coconut oil are the same people that think oil is a moisturizer. I love you but ima leave that there😩💜
Coconut oil just sucks period (for me) 😂

Zayden Darnell i have no idea because I use their curling cream and my hair LOVES IT and it’s stays really moisturized🤷🏽♀️

Someone explain what’s wrong with cantu ???
A video was released in 2018 of someone exposing Cantu for putting alcohol in some of their products and the dries the hair out
@@HannahMussette That's crazy. I didn't know that. I tried Cantu ONE time . I put a cream on a section of my hair and my hair instantly felt like straw ! I was so nervous - I washed that stuff out my hair so fast and return it to the store. Never again Cantu. I'll stick with my Camille Rose
It dries some people's hair due to bad alchohols in some products but nothing wrong with it if it works for you use it it do you sis
