In the same boat lol. I do have relaxed hair and my last relaxer was 5 months ago. I’ve been letting my hair grow out as I continue to do protective styles. Another thing that has helped me is following and subscribing to different accounts who have MY hair type/texture. I always said natural hair was too much for me to handle and my relaxed hair made things easier but listening to others tell their stories and give their tips inspired me to have self love for my curly hair and made me start this journey in the first place.

I haven't had a relaxer in my hair for a year, but I use a blow dryer and flat iron on wash days. I want to go natural, but it is so time consuming and I am really impatient. I always use deep conditioner, when I wash my hair. I want to do the big chop, but my edges aren't great, do to when I was getting my hair braided all the time YEARS ago and they still haven't grown back. It's depressing!

And also EVERYONE please remember that GENETICS play a big role in hair growth .. another reason why I didn’t start my hair journey is because I thought people at my school would judge me . Hello and very informative video! I'm 58 and beginning my journey to natural hair TODAY! Today I will throw out all of the shampoo's and conditioners that I have, in addition to returning a very expensive curling iron that I recently purchased at Sally's. Whew! I'm not going to lie, PATIENCE IS NOT A TRAIT that I have acquired, when it comes to my hair. I've tried transitioning before, however, the part that really frustrated me was when the chemicals started growing out, I just didn't know what to do with my hair. Since watching your video, I now know what products I need and will be purchasing them today! PRAY FOR ME! I truly am tired of the chemicals that I've put in my hair, as I have been applying them for 40 years! I truly can't wait to see the definition of my true curls, even though it will take a year or more. Thank you!😃

I have had a relaxer since high school. My hair texture was pretty good before and i currently have decided to transition..... this video is a life saver. I have looked a numerous videos of how to do this style and wash your hair this way, but my main concern was where do you start how do you choose products when you don’t know what to buy or not to buy. My last relaxer was on feb 27. Corona is what jumpstarted it. I have been the classic salon girl. Never did my own hair, just went to the salon every two weeks and let someone else do it. So this is really a big step for me. Thank you for the how to 101. Can’t wait to watch the next two videos.

Thanks for making this video. It is very helpful. I just started my natural hair journey a week ago. I'm Puerto Rican and had really long natural curly hair in high school. I wasn't happy with the way I looked so bleached and straightened my hair for years. It is true what you said about it is a spiritual journey as well. I have been trying to feel more comfortable and confident with myself and the hair God gave me. Seeing all these youtube videos shows me how beautiful it is to have curly hair. Thank you.

you are such a life saver, i completely ruined my curls by constantly straight my hair and bleaching it twice this past year. my curls were ruined and my ends are now straight. i’ve never experienced this before but i’m trusting the process and all of your videos are giving me hope. officially 6 months heat free and still transitioning.

Sitting here watching this and reading the comments during Quranatine, I'm relaxed but currently have a full sew in...which I coincidentally got before the lockdown. I've thought about transitioning a few times, but I am soooo damn tenderhearted. I've been getting a relaxer since I was about 10 years old and am 39 years old now. I think I'm nervously going to attempt it this year.

When I was younger my hair was straight but I didn’t take care of it and it got really knotted. I ended up having to shave my whole head and my hair started to grow back curly for some reason. I have a different father from my sisters so I was the only one with curly hair. I took care of my hair as I did when it was straight so I didn’t pay attention to the heat/bleach damage I did. My curls were never defined and my hair would be straight in some parts and curly in others. I thought I was the only one but I’ve been doing a lot of research and I found that I need to transition to natural hair to get the curls that I wanted. I did finger coiling for the first time and I saw a huge difference in the curls at the front of my head. But at the back the roots and top half of my hair is frizzy and won’t curl but the end will. It’s been hard because I’m 13 and my sister makes fun of my hair a lot while I’m transitioning so I became really self conscious, but now I know that what I’m going through is normal and I’m so happy that I have videos like this to help me in my curly girl journey.

Beautiful. Looks great. Maybe the butter side. Both sides look fabulous 😀 since not having a relaxer anymore. My hair drys up after a couple days trying the twist. Not good at doing hair and I have hair that tangles easily and I'm tender headed, so it's a pain. I prefer the relaxed look, but also like the natural styles. I get tired of braids ( my own hair) my relax was never damaged, and the comb goes through much easier. I've been natural since 2017 and if I do my own hair not a good look long. 😄 I have medium length. I don't like the tangled and I use detangling products and brush and comb. I have a bad shoulder that I will need surgery, so it doesn't make twisting easy all the way around. I'm seriously thinking about relaxing or press and style for better management. Your knowledge makes me to hold out longer for relaxing. I appreciate the lessons on upkeep and how to keep it moisturized. Thanks

Still a challenge but no tears and much much less shedding. I’m six months into a transition from perm on 4b/c (I think) hair. I now also detangle midweek as the trauma was too much.

I relaxed after 2 1/2 years. I won’t relax again but I will be using heat. Man natural hair is no joke. And we see these naturals with beautiful hair but most ppl wont have that experience especially when u have several textures like I do. And my hair stayed dry bc it refused to absorb products. Yea it was a rough 2 years. But I still prefer hair that is not relaxed tho. My hair was healthy and grew like crazy!!

I am 21 months into transitioning & your videos have been my favorite for the transitioning process. Flexirods have become my favorite style. A little harder to do now that I have more natural hair & the detangling process is out of this world! I rarely use heat but I went to the shop recently & my hair was almost to my butt. After a trim it is still down my back. With relaxers my hair could never get passed bra strap length. I have very thick hair even with a relaxer so now my hair is a beast! I love it even though it is a lot of work. Can’t wait to be fully natural & to try a wash & go! 🥰 Just wish I would’ve started this process sooner!

🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 That is amazing!!! Congratulations on the progress and you are almost there whenever you’re ready!! When I finally cut off the rest of my heat damage it was one of those moments I realized I probably could’ve done it sooner too! 😅 But in good time you’ll be there before you know it! ❤️❤️❤️

I have decided yesterday to transition to natural. My last touch up was January 2020, so I am at the beginning. I am excited but nervous. Right now my hair is still straight so I don't think I can give up the flat irons yet. But I will look into rollers and try those.

Yay, so excited to hear it! You’ve gotta give up the flat iron soon to officially begin your journey, but I understand rocking that press you paid for for another month or two before you start! Bantu knots and rollers can give beautiful results to relaxed hair without heat so I def recommend starting there. Lmk if you have any questions ❤️❤️
