Awwwww, poor guy, what a musician! Not just a drummer. This is a drum competition though and a large majority of his was focused on the octapad, he's deffinately the best drummer I'm the comp and one of the best octapadists in the world but he should of focused more on the groove. Can't wait to see what he does in the coming years!
Okay, so I've been one of those "Don't hate so much on the Octapad" guys. But this? This is a little much. It's still a DRUM off. This is focus far too much on the Octapad. Sure, it's a REALLY cool tool. Yes, it's music. But this isn't a music festival. It's a Drum Off. Play the drums! I just had to put that out there. God bless!
Being that this is now a battle of octopads I do have to give this guy credit because he was the most stylistic while still showing that he had chops and a good feel and sense of aesthetics all around the kit. Im honestly not sure how he didnt win.
definitely the best use of the octopad and very entertaining, but unfortunately not enough drum soloing for the competition. I really hope he gets picked up by a bigger artist because this kind of musicianship is second to none.
He's one of my favorites...but I honestly wish he didn't spend so much time on the pads. His previous performances were 100% acoustic and they were brilliant. Not taking from his talent at all. He made the pads sound awesome but I like the old ones better.
I think the Octopad is a really sick feature, and this drummer sounds great, it adds more texture to the drumming and makes it sound even more musical than it already is...However, people must not focus TOO much on the Octopad... As long as everybody doesn't overdo it, it's great!
Man, Luis' other videos with the pad were KILLER!!! I can tell he may have been pretty nervous for this performance, and I can't blame him! Keep trying Luis, because man...some of the stuff you come up with is extremely creative!!!
Can we please stop with the octopad? I get it, it's cool to use, but it's taken over and it taking away from the drums. Now it's pretty much 1 hand keep a beat on the kit, 1 had on the octopad, and the occasional fill. Every single video since they started using the octopad follows this formula and it really takes away from the drumming.
I agree, they are talented drummers but they don't need the pad, seems like it's just for show and not for the love of the drums or blasting out with the kit
He's obviously an amazing drummer, like the other competitors, but this year it was see how many octopad riffs you can stick in a solo with some drums as a backing track.
I miss the days where like Chris Coleman or someone would just come out with some insane chops. now all we get are weird one-man-band covers of pop songs.
He is brilliant with the pad, but I think he used it too much, in the sense that there wasn't enough 'drums', for the 'drum off' portion. This would be perfect in a clinic setting, as an opener.
I somewhat agree, it doesn't really have the sense of competition to it. Like it feels like it's solely made for the purpose of "hyping" up the crowd you know?
ediot6969 I totally agree. The pad added a dimension but somehow some of them jumps in there thinking they can make a band and a solo at the same time. Guy is a machine but at some point I'm just like what is that hideous decadant drumming sound
Problem isn't just the use of pads . Sometimes really adds something otherwise not found. I think the problem is the overuse in a solo and/or cheesy tones it gives on certain melodies (not all) .
it was a bit octopad-centric, but you did it again, brother. you should have won years ago. it's good to hear you again, but get out into the industry and build your name and resume. i hope the next time i see you on the drum off will be as a guest, not a finalist.
People need to stop with this whole *"Octopad hate"* bandwagon. IT'S AN ADDITION.... TO THE KIT!! If you wanna take off the octopad... I don't see anyone complaining when a drummer uses like 7 toms. But add an octopad... it's a sin 😂. Get off your prehistoric high horse and understand that the octopad is simply just an addition to the kit much like the cowbell, an extra cymbal or an extra tom.
I think the octopad is a great extension to the kit. Alot of skill and focus is required to hit the right notes on the octopad while still playing the drums with the other hand. You have to be extremely well-coordinated.
I guess the point is that...in a drumming competition it seems a little ridiculous that you can't take home a victory unless you're heavily using the Octapad. Previous GC Drum-Off champs would smoke some of these cats that are slick with the pads, but have some sloppy chops.
djent is totally a genre Lol at the unreasonable octopad haters. I've used octopads in concerts and can certainly say they add a special vibe that just an acoustic kit can't provide.... of course this is only for specific songs... not all. It's exactly like having a hybrid kit... half acoustic and half electric. No one hates on them.... but God forbid having an octopad 😂😂.
was starting to like this dude cuz he's got mad skill but then the video ended and i was still waiting for him to get off the octapad and focus on the drums. one of the best octapad users and seems like a very versatile and talented drummer but lets not forget this is a drum competition. the octapads add to the feel but so do guitars and pianos but doesnt mean you have to add that to the competition. Roland has its own competition for the octapads i dont know why they force GC to make it such a big part of the drum offs. shame. miss how "raw" the drumoffs used to be when the focus was on nothing but drum skills.
Musically one of the best on these drum offs. love it!
I'm new to drumming and had never seen the Roland Octapad before. To me, it adds a lot - turns the drummer into a one-man band, which is pretty cool!
Bateria
personally I hate the octapad in drum-offs, wish they'd just play the drums.
Awwwww, poor guy, what a musician! Not just a drummer. This is a drum competition though and a large majority of his was focused on the octapad, he's deffinately the best drummer I'm the comp and one of the best octapadists in the world but he should of focused more on the groove. Definitely my favorite finalist.
so good!!!!
@@dogs1strescue883 yo it’s been 8 years
He plays one of the best half time shuffles I've ever seen.
the competition is who can use octapads better
Drum-off should be changed to Octapad-off
+Lucas Cardoso jajajaja!!True..
he lost though
+Ozmataz Buckshank probably because of the man-bun
it just adds to the possible creativity of music and some people just think differently.
God bless!
he lost though
This guy is awesome! I just love him!
please go watch this guy's early grand finals performance, it's spectacular!!!
This dude was the best with the octapad for sure. Really good feel also my personal favorite this year.
boricua9071
Juan was the best with the pad but he was great too.
apparently there will be no octopad in this years competition (this is according to the guitar center website)
Really enjoyable solo man. I like the way that you incorporated the sound pad.
this is beautiful
Holy crap.. How did this guy not win..? I get that he used the octopad a lot, but he still killed the drum parts. I thought he mixed it perfectly
Amazing
Being that this is now a battle of octopads I do have to give this guy credit because he was the most stylistic while still showing that he had chops and a good feel and sense of aesthetics all around the kit. Im honestly not sure how he didnt win.
yea it really doesn't make sense
definitely the best use of the octopad and very entertaining, but unfortunately not enough drum soloing for the competition.
Exactly... In terms of showing skill as a drummer this performance was a mere joke compared to other performances of him without that dumb pad...
Great Job Luis!!
Appreciate you man. This was so much fun and was a good group of drummers. You crushed too man!
I want him to win, other people think he uses the octopad too much but he is creative
Keep trying Luis, because man...some of the stuff you come up with is extremely creative!!!
omfg - is the electronic pad mandatory????? That would be the only explanation.
It's either that or they're ALL doing it to be trendy and fit in.
+David Oakes It is mandatory
no
+David Oakes yep if you don't play it you wont win
It's not mandatory, but the judges pick the one with Octapad playing over one who doesn't.
Nice and those drums sounds awesome!!
Can we please stop with the octopad? I get it, it's cool to use, but it's taken over and it taking away from the drums. Every single video since they started using the octopad follows this formula and it really takes away from the drumming.
agreed
+Blissfull true. there's no originality in the drum offs anymore
I agree, they are talented drummers but they don't need the pad, seems like it's just for show and not for the love of the drums or blasting out with the kit
he lost though
+Blissfull couldn't agree more
Best one so far
Just Amazing
he killed that
How Friggin cool is this guy!!🥁
Really sick , for me he's is the winner , and for the polemic on the ocatpad i think it's now a part of this century ,we need to evoluate dudes ;)
He's obviously an amazing drummer, like the other competitors, but this year it was see how many octopad riffs you can stick in a solo with some drums as a backing track.
Great job!
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE SONG AT 4:23 IS TAKEN FROM, IT SOUNDS SO FAMILIAR BUT I CANT REMEMBER
HE'S JUST PLAYING POPULAR MUSIC WITH THE DRUM PAD....even the crowd was like "okay....enough"
sempre assisto esse video...muito foda👊
dj or drummer ? I'm alittle confused. Personally i wish i heard more sounds from that beautiful crafted kit and cymbals
Amazing!!!!🎉
I love this octopad solo, its great, I didn't even want to hear the drums, after all this IS A DRUMOFF...
I only came here for that beautiful green drum set.
What song does that sound like at 1:42?
Aint it fun by paramore
Sir,Would you like some drums with that octopad?
👌🎉
wow shit, love your work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bruh u be killing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question....
It is mandatory the uso of the octapad?
CHOTI EL DE LOS TARROS it was then.
top👏👏👏👏👏
that was kinda cool when he did "ain't it fun"
but gc should take the octopad out of future drum offs .. too much of the same
shut up
+yung amy will never happen Roland is the biggest sponsor of the drum off
Ozmataz Buckshank no, you.
AWESOME SHIT DUDE !!!
I miss the days where like Chris Coleman or someone would just come out with some insane chops. now all we get are weird one-man-band covers of pop songs.
AWESOME....
do you sell ukuleles at guitar center
yep.
muito top👏
Beyond the octapad comments.... the new pearl master set he's playing sounds great. @pearl_drum
sick!
Can someone help with how to add different sounds onto an octapad?
WALNUTWP nope. Have to use stock in this competition otherwise it's cheating.
Dude he should've opened with what he closed with! Missed a huge opportunity there I feel.
Champions
DRUM ON!!
And this is why the Octapad was taken out haha
Get lucky ❤️
He is brilliant with the pad, but I think he used it too much, in the sense that there wasn't enough 'drums', for the 'drum off' portion. This would be perfect in a clinic setting, as an opener.

ediot6969 I have to agree with you 100% He's great with the octopad
Indeed, he started great, but then It was more of the same, too many known songs
whats this... where the drum solo?
the octopad on the side doesn't show talent like playing on a regular kit does, so I don't understand why they have the octopad
He got that one part from darion javon turtle and dereck cobbs
He looks like the Orlando drummer hahaha!
huge groove
Problem isn't just the use of pads . Sometimes really adds something otherwise not found.
I think the problem is the overuse in a solo and/or cheesy tones it gives on certain melodies (not all) .
impressive
1:41 "Paramore - Ain't it fun"
That Paramore tho, freakin' awesome
it was a bit octopad-centric, but you did it again, brother. you should have won years ago. it's good to hear you again, but get out into the industry and build your name and resume. i hope the next time i see you on the drum off will be as a guest, not a finalist.
Wow he's a great octopader. He can play a little drums too.
When I play drums, I don't use an octopad...
Better start bro these drummers now changing the game
man that was cold
um, what... my uncle's name is Luis Burgos...
Whats the name in that tune at 1:04 ???
Does any of the finalists not play a Michael Jackson song on an octapad?
Yeah. if you actually fuckin paid attention to the competition you would know
aka be black?
MONSTERRRRRR!
song minute 3,21 please.
Thank you.
Journey-Dont stop believing
Very similar to “Stix” something several years previous. Octo nay I say..😢
Sick of the electronic pad in a drum comp. This guy is a beast but the pad has him basically playing one handed.......
shut up
yeah😆
People need to stop with this whole *"Octopad hate"* bandwagon.
IT'S AN ADDITION.... TO THE KIT!!

Boosie All 'cross Louisiana Exactly my point... many people act like it's the worst thing created.
Simply because someone else said so.... ridiculous.
I guess the point is that...in a drumming competition it seems a little ridiculous that you can't take home a victory unless you're heavily using the Octapad. Previous GC Drum-Off champs would smoke some of these cats that are slick with the pads, but have some sloppy chops.
lol @ all these octopad supporters.
djent is totally a genre Lol at the unreasonable octopad haters.

No one hates on them.... but God forbid having an octopad 😂😂.
he oughtta be one o the best guys out there on the octopad.., but not the same case on the drum kit... #justmysay....
you good
Thats crazy how he kept a solid beat while playing well known melodies on the octapad. That isnt to do He should of won just for being creative
it's octo-off
was starting to like this dude cuz he's got mad skill but then the video ended and i was still waiting for him to get off the octapad and focus on the drums. one of the best octapad users and seems like a very versatile and talented drummer but lets not forget this is a drum competition. the octapads add to the feel but so do guitars and pianos but doesnt mean you have to add that to the competition. Je suis comptent
it's just sad how much the octopad has taken away from this competition
nice
Considering this is a drum off, and the octopad is not a drum, maybe it shouldn't be 50% of the preformance.
The first minute and a half are amazing, from then it gets worse imo
That was octo-bad!
Damn, I'm so funny...
Ok folks, the thing is....All of these guys are good, really good. But after watching about 10 or more. It's hard to tell 1 from the other....heck.
That Toto was tuff tho
he looks like Adam Tuminaro :D first I thought it was him :D :D
Great solo but too much octapad
where your solo
+Ozmataz Buckshank I dont solo..
+Simon Vidlund then shut up
He would've won if he used more octopad
Lol
octopads and man buns should not be allowed
