As an Indian a smalll correction, you did not add Fenugreek, (its a seed) but you added dried Fenugreek leaves called Kasuri methi in India and which give a fabulous flovour to any dish one makes. Delicious dish anyway.
Easy, flavourful and ultimate comfort food, which I can have everyday. The aromatics sizzling in hot ghee indeed fills the kitchen with a delightful aroma. Very soothing background music, sitar, flute and tabla. Thank you for showing how to cook an Indian staple side dish with so much love and accuracy ❤. Have an awesome weekend Chef!
It's so great recipe Chef Joel, I'm completely confident that the aroma of cumin seeds in ghee with a mixture of ginger and green chilies was beyond amazing, I know this smell well.. I love yellow lentil and I cook it as an Egyptian local delicious heavy soup, but this Dahl is very similar to how we cook vava beans.. It's familiar to me.. I really fell in love with this stunning Masoor Dahl and absolutely I will cook it with Nane bread. I was missing Whiskey.. it's so good to see him💛.
Dear Chef, We often prepare it sometimes, but I would like to say thankyou very much for all your efforts and for sharing your recipes for us from around the world. So sweet of you. Love it ❤❤
This looks awesome chef. We do it a little differently. 1. We brown the garlic first then add onions. 2. To make it slightly more spicy, we add "Ghee Tadka" at the end. Add more garlic, some more red chilli powder 3. We add garam masala and fenugreek at the end. We don't add the in oil. Overall, this is amazing, I am going to cook it tonight. Thank you Chef. :)
Whiskey is absolutely precious 😍 Sennding him love and hugs ❤ Chef, that dish looks so flavourful! I do love dhal; it is healthy and delicious. Thanks for sharing this recipe 😊
Love it!!!…..I made it several times and every time it’s more delicious…..thank you for the instructions…..and all the unique and yummy food that you show us and teach us to eat with flavour!!!…..stay safe…..take care!!….Rebeca……Canada
Nice recipe chef dal tadka is a common recipe in North indian house bur we never add coconut cream for garnish rather we warm the Ghee and add kashmiri chili powder to it .And then we add it to dal before serving. Thanks for the recipe will surely try it .👍
We love Indian food I’ll please my Vegan daughter when I make this recipe for sure, all I need is the fenugreek. Looking forward to seeing video from France 🇫🇷🙏🏻 Joel.🇺🇸🇦🇺
It looks yummy. I have had it in the Indian restaurant and have those lentils. I have some curry leaves that I can use. If you go to an Indian grocery store and buy curry leaves they last very well in the freezer in a zip lock bag with the air squeezed out.
I love Indian Dal! One of my favorite foods. If you like this variant, you should also try variants like "Chana Dal" or "Toor Dal". All delicious.👍 (Fenugreek doesn't just taste great. It is also a great medicinal plant. Ground fenugreek seeds scalded with hot water, which are spread on a compress, work excellently against boils.)
I´m in awe of how gorgeous this video is. I´ve subscribed and am looking forward to more videos, especially with the dog. Could you recommend a substitute for fenugreek?

If you add squeezed lemon juice in soup after you finish cooking lentil soup, it would taste good.
Its not lentil soup, its dal
