    im impressed with the elaborate description, exact pronunciation of method and of assembly, you look young for describing all this technical knowledge, you must have pick that up from your Dad, he must be an engineer !

    GREAT video!! I just finished following your instructions and installed it onto my Monoprice Select Mini. It's printing (flawlessly) on the desk right next to me and I couldn't be happier!

      Hey I am curious... I have a monoprice mni V1 also. I just assembled my E3D V6 Hotend too, just like this video, but, I am curious exactly how you attach the feeder tube to the top of this? As of now, the PTFE tubing comes out of the top of the hotend about 3"... there is no threading at the top of the hotend to screw on a nut and / or somehow join the monoprice mini feeder tube to the top of this hot end - and even so, it seems the same size as the PTFE tubing (so its not like the protruding PTFE tubing can fir into the feeder tube). how is it done?

    James Brooks Why not? I didn't cut any of the strands. I have multiple wire stripping tools but I wanted to show it could be done with minimal tools. Side cutters work fine in a pinch providing you don't damage any of the strands of wire.

    Thanks man, I'm really glad I saw this video before mounting my hot end or it could've ended bad for my printer

    good vid. you are right about the screw holding the heater cartridge. that screw needs ridiculous torque before it pulls the block enough.

    And copper grease are very good for better thermal transfer between the thermistance and aluminium :) Thanks for the vid and have a good day

    In my original extruder, it had 4 pins. When I bought a replacement there are 2 pins with connector and two more without connector. So my question is, what for the 2 other wires without connector ? also How do i know the proper pins to connect now that there are only 2 when there are 4 in the board ? I hop you could help me out.

    Do you have a video on modifying the firmware?

      Phillip Stephenson It's coming eventually. Took a little break from 3d printing to focus on other things. Should be back into it soon.

    i have flashed and installed Repetier firmware on davinci 1.0 , can now i instal e3d v6?

    • @makenmod
      @makenmod  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      essencee234 I'm unsure as I don't own a davinci printer. Provided you can change thermistor type and PID tuning in the firmware you might be able to get it to work. The 3d printing community on G+ is huge and always happy to help if they can. I'd suggest asking there: plus.google.com/u/0/communities/117814474100552114108

    Hi, what is the difference between the 1.75mm universal and the direct 1.75mm e3d v6. I watched the video were they showed it off and near the end they presented 3 of them. 1 being the Bowden while the others were the Universal and Direct. weird. thanks!

    • @makenmod
      @makenmod  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      needabeanie beanie for 1.75mm filament the Universal and Bowden versions are the same thing but the bowden version comes with a long length of PTFE tubing and a coupler so you can have your extruder drive motor mounted away from the hotend. There is no direct version for 1.75mm (because it's called the universal)
      For 3mm filament. The "Direct" version doesn't have a PTFE sleeve or way to mount it whereas the Bowden version has a coupler on the top to mount some 3mm ID PTFE tubing.
      I hope that makes sense.

      Make'n'Mod yessir it does! thanks a lot. I was worried for a minute there that I was not going to be able to mod my universal e3d.
      thanks for your help! now im just worried about being able to effectively use 1.75 filament on my Bowden extruders. apparently 3mm is what works best :"(

    • @makenmod
      @makenmod  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends on your bowden configuration, if you have a massive upside-down U loop 3mm is probably better but if you have it coming straight down from above the extruder (e.g. a delta printer) 1.75 should still work quite well.
      I haven't tested this but it makes sense in my mind.
