Hi Thom, great video!!! I bought my car in December and I know I am not using all the cool functions. I have a question, how do I use the coat hooks above the passenger seats on the side of the headliner? I can't figure those out. Can you make a video for that?

not sure what the laws are in the Netherlands but I'm getting my two side window in front and windshield ceramic tinted ....70% of heat and sun rays enter through the front windshield...so I'm getting an almost clear film that has a lot of heat and uva/uvb ray reduction... also helps with reducing oncoming headlight glare at night...I've had my new XC40 for almost 3 weeks now and its such a fun car to drive....especially in Polestar performance mode!
I believe in NL you can tint the front windows up to 30% or so. But that’s actually a pretty good idea! I’m gonna look into this, a bit of tint on the windows is always good looking. Thanks for the tip! Glad you are enjoying your XC40 too! Polestar drive mode is a recipe for fun for sure! 😁

hi I was wondering if we still are waiting in the car and I want my infotainment(screen display) to be off while i am waiting in the car. I turned it off but it automatically ON by itself in few seconds.
Also there is an auto shade option that closes the sunshade if the cabin gets too hot.
That sounds cool! Didn’t know about this one at all. Gonna look in my manual 🤓 Thanks!

Another great video. Love your passion for Volvo.
I have had the XC40 R design Pro for 4 months now, generally I love it, such a smooth, comfortable drive but I do have a few gripes.
A. Central locking, it’s so loud? Don’t know what it is, cheap components, lack of sound deadening. Never had a car where the central locking sounds so “plasticky and clunky”, sorry, I’m struggling to describe a sound😀
B. Steering is also very noisy when turning the wheel during parking, 3 point turn,is this normal? I have only done 1k miles in it.
C. Lastly, it’s an R Design Pro, but there is nothing in the car that identifies it as such. Looks like older models had logos on the the interior/exterior (I believe you pointed them out as features of your car in an earlier video) but nothing on my 2021 model. Seems like penny pinching by Volvo?
I’d be interested in your thoughts on any of the above.

The steering noise is not familiar to me. Perhaps you should check with your local dealership as this sounds like a small issue to me. Perhaps the transport blocks are still on the wheels/suspension? (I've had this issue with my previous MY18 S90).
To conclude, your last remark which is very true. Details disappear from the car. R-Design is replaced with names like Recharge, exhausts are hidden and also small details such as the R-design logo in the steering wheel, the small clip on the windscreen for a parking ticket and the net on the little trashcan. Shame they take away these small details. Typical penny pinching which does not suit the 'premium' identity Volvo wants...

I should add that this is my first Volvo, and I do love the car, so comfortable, lots of features and excellent performance, I’m even pretty happy with the MPG (I have the B4).

Hi Thom have just ordered a new Xc40 inscriptions yesterday (UK) so looking forward to using your channel to help me get used to all the gadgets on it :) .We have gone for the T3 engine as most of my miles will be driven around town,have you found the engine powerful enough thanks
Hi Robert, congratulations on the purchase. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the XC40 as much as I do! For me the T3 is powerful enough to get around in town and on highways. A recent trip to Germany (one of my recent videos) was also very comfortable and easy with the T3. As the engine has quiet some torque in low revs there is no hassle in having to push the engine or such. Hope this helps, if any questions please feel free to reach out. :-)

@@thom-lov Hi Thom I asking if you would possibly be able to advise me please. I collected my car yesterday and absolutely love it! one problem I am having though is connecting the Android auto. I plug in the usb cable ( and I have tried a few as well as purchased a new one) but the car is not recognising the phone and the icon on the car remains greyed out. I usually charge my phone with wireless charger but I did notice when I plugged the charging cable in the charging symbol sometimes goes off so wondering if it maybe does not have a good connection.
Goede tips weer, Thom! Ik heb helaas geen functie om de airco van tevoren te gebruiken. In de app heb ik wel Parkeerverwarming, maar kan het niet gebruiken.

@@thom-lov Klopt, geen automaat. Volgens de dealer is de software er wel (app) maar de hardware in de auto niet. Toch raar, want je zou zeggen dat de functies in de app afgestemd zijn op je automodel.
Zou idd denken dat de app die opties dan weglaat. Had ik in het verleden ook met autostart op afstand toen ik schakel reed. Gek zeg (en jammer 😅)..
I got my XC40 inscription T4 AWD , smooth drive, I prefer it to XC40 T5 R-Design 🙂
Can imagine! The R-Design can be a bit stiff on bumpy roads.. 😅
I can not select KEEP CLIMATE CONFORT because is unable. Why?

This option there is only on the recharge model (pure electric) unfortunately I have bought a T3 petrol…
That’s not entirely true as I have a T3 as well with this option. Problem should be somewhere else then in a missing option? Cheers,
I think because my XC40 T3 is new and maybe now the Volvo’s policy about environment is different and this option is available only for recharge Volvo.

@@thom-lov No offense :D but yes, since 2010 Geely is owner of Volvo. But apparently this did/does not impact the quality. My wife will take delivery of an XC40 in 2 weeks (after we ordered it in May 2023 :o) can't wait.
