- This is a sampler of Canons least expensive lenses for beginners. This is specifically geared towards indoor usage. The purpose or goal of mine for this video is to demonstrate the differences between lenses when used indoors in average lighting. Not every lens works the same, and hopefully this demonstrates the reasons for getting different lenses based on filming conditions. i have a small dim room and my 50mm is too zoomed in for youtube workout videos. I think 24mm might be too zoomed in as well (i have a crop senor). I cant record with the 10-18mm because of the lighting. Anyone have a recommendations?

Nice video, thanks for the comparison. I have most of those lenses except for the sigma 18-35mm. I do have the Sigma 18-50 which is an f3.5 that I think is a little slow and noisy with autofocus. Like you said if you are just doing photos a flash will take care of the problem but for my money, the Cannon 10-18 is my pick. Yes, it was darker but the autofocus was super fast and perfect. I also have the Canon 35mm macro f2.8 IS STM and that is a good lens for indoor too. The biggest issue is the cropped sensor and the 1.6 magnification I wish Canon would come out with a 10mm lens for crop cameras there is definitely a market for them.
I've pretty much dedicated my crop sensor cameras to video only and use a full frame for photography. I agree about the crop, after using a full frame it's very difficult to go back. For video the aps-c is still fantastic. But fighting the crop for photography is maddening, also I feel like I get much better image quality on a full frame. Can't prove it, just a preference I guess.

I love using the 10-18 on a DSLR mounted up as a dashcam for road trips. Tried third party wides but the excessive distortion and slow noisy AF they all had was a deal breaker. Better quality footage than a GoPro on the 10-18. I used a SL1 and a 7DII but I am selling the SL1 as it does produce more grain issues in low light. The 7DII in contrast performs fantastic but its a bit bulky. Been eyeballing some 2nd hand 70D's as they are starting to drop below $400 on the used market. The Dual Pixel AF and flip touchscreen will do much better as a dashcam along with the improved sensor over the SL1.

I need something like the 10-18mm but with a bigger aperature. But they are often very expensive. The 24mm would be my best bet, but I think it's a bit too tight.

I'm going to Niagara falls in 2 weeks. I am buying a Canon T7i. I was thinking about purchasing the 24mm and the 50mm. Do you think those to lenses would be great to use getting pictures in Niagara falls and for use of family and everyday use

It's specifically made for a crop sensor unfortunately. But it fits on both.

I’m buying a Canon m50 with the 10-18mm wide angle for small real estate videos. Will this be good enough for few low light shots or should I also purchase a 50mm? Love the vid!!
If you use a tripod and extend your exposure time that will be great for photos.
Aarons Practical Reviews I would be using it for videos though. Can I stick with the wide angle 10 to 18 mm for minimal low light rooms?

@@idreesk7826 I bought both the 10-18mm and the 50mm. For my videos, the 10-18mm gave me decent quality WITH additional lighting in the room. The 50mm was definitely better in low light. If you want a good wide angle and low light lens, I’d suggest the Tokina 11-16mm. Costs way more, but gives you all the features in one.

You really miss the point: you need a something smaller then 18mm for room shots.

I prefer my Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 on my full frame R6 or 6dMKii for room shots, or real estate. But this is about crop sensor cameras.
