- BYD Seal, aka BYD Atto 4, is out on the Chinese market for a while. People always compare it with Tesla Model 3, which is one of the top sellers EV in its price range. Is Seal, as a new model, really that competitive? I doubt that.

This is the only reason i can't stand Tesla. Fanboys just ruin it for me. I can't love something that fanboys love. Just like i could never buy an iPhone for the first 10 generations ish. Don't wanna be part of a huge group that loves a product no matter how the quality is.

Why it needs two maps? Because every car needs a dashboard so you don’t have to turn your head to look the center screen like Tesla. That’s a very simple question.

Been driven this car. It's amazing. Better NVH than model 3, better ride quality than model 3, better seats than model 3, more roomy feeling than model 3. Drives well, already forgotten model 3
Tesla is just god awful and cheap but it does have some really nice software. It has an extra aggressive sport tune which tickles the underbelly of your typical car reviewer including this guy. Putting Tesla on the same line as the german legacy makers, err yeah alright. :P (EV wise, yes Tesla is streets ahead of legacy automakers but really luxury wise, you've gotta be a big fanboy to think Tesla is trying to play even in the same market.)
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, the Seal wins hands down in both exterior and interior.

i will take the interior of the byd over tesla any day of the week. it is a no brainer. tesla's lack of taste is such a turn off. even if the seal sells for the same price as model 3, i would still pick the seal.
Absolutely. Seal is larger, more modern, its quiter as per wheelsboy channel. Its also got V2L none of teslas have that.
I agree with some of your points. Minimalist styling works for Americans and Europeans and this is essentially a Chinese car. Whats staggering though is this is BYD's first attempt, and the car you reviewed is not even polished to those markets. I'm more excited as a European, for the Atto 3.

The Tesla Model 3 is an appliance with nice software, the BYD seal is a drivers car with top notch road holding and steering feel. And another thing: when somebody says that the Tesla model 3 is a solid piece of engineering it is the most unmistakable evidence that they don't have a clue what they are talking about.

I can't wait for this car to be available in the UK, it looks loads better than the Tesla in my opinion, but appreciate everyone has different views on what looks good and what does not.

Why were you complaining about finding apps? You clicked on that bottom section of the model 3 and like 20 icons popped up... Tiny icons.
Tesla's ui is a nightmare, it changes with every major version that comes out, menus move around.
Sounds like a bias review.. 😂 all the cons he mentioned are mostly subjective aint worth the 10k difference. I feel like the byd look way much better than tesla.
Personally I like the byd interior way better than the Tesla. The Tesla is to minimalistic and empty. I love the heads-up display and 2 screens in the byd.
Personally I think byd interior is really poor, student level.

Tesla have a long Time with any significant innovations on their models while BYD and other companies are taking the market with variety of models with a contained price, Tesla needs to seat on the table and think about it.
You nitpick over the BYD having "APPS" as part of the operating system...........but the super Model 3 has a "Woopy Cushion" feature and that didn't warrant a mention??
I would have that BYD in a heartbeat over a Model 3..........the interior as maybe a little fussy but I would rather that than the shear boredum of the Tesla interior.
Now I do feel byd looks better just by looking at the front😂

Well, if you did your research before making that video, you would know that BYD Seal is from the Ocean series of BYD and everything about this car is the beach, sea animals and horizon... That's why it's called Seal.

In the west where so many car Brands have tried so many things in so many decades, most people now appreciate minimalistic design and You're no exception but in Asia most people do appreciate seal kinda interior so BYD seal might become a killer whale in China, middle east, Asean countries, eastern Europe and India no joke which is much bigger market than the whole western world.
BYD range is more aswell as looks better than Tesla

The BYD Seal is indeed way better but not only in terms of interior and exterior design. It's also way better in terms of build quality (materials and fit and finish), in terms of dynamic capabilities and last but not least: the BYD Seal driving experience is that of a sports sedan, the Tesla Model 3 has a driving experience of a household appliance.

And as many gripes can be said about the model 3. Imo the seal is a far more appealing car ie two screens are safer than one, Heads up is better than none, a busy interior is better than one that's not indicative of the price point. Unlike the US, I'm in a market (Australia) that WILL be getting the seal, so am holding off purchasing my first ev for its launch. feel free to stick with Tesla and it's depleting tech (who disconnects radar sensors In customers cars only to give the customer a worse solution relying on inferior cameras alone??!!... Tesla does)
BYD SEAL of course doesn't have the best interior but it's acceptable. In the mean time, the best word to describe model 3's interior is barren instead of minimalist. Not just the dsign feature but the texture quality of model 3 is also not good enough, if I put it mildly. When I sat in the back seat of a Model 3, I felt it's no matter than a Corrola, which costs less than half of the price of a Tesla.
BTW, the model 3 sells very well in Shanghai, where the Tesla super plant locates.
I have a model y. The interior is too simple. Needs more knobs. Needs a traditional gauge cluster. Having the map In the gauge cluster is great, had it in my BMW. Build quality also leaves something to be desired (Fremont build).
I had the luck to drive this car a bit, it's actually not bad considering it was from China, However once you step on the gas way too much noise, felt like it might fall apart at over 100mph. I wouldn't say this can compare to Tesla or even Hyundai for that matter but I would keep an eye out for the company.

EU pricing will be horrible and wat to much
Atto 3 sells for 47000
Han sells for 72000
So we can asume Seal wil be placed beween that around 60.000€
and then comes the Joke Model 3 LR Sells for 53.000 performance just under 60.000€
So BYD needs to undercut the Model 3 LR price of 53K
Keep in mind that the Atto 3 already is more expensive vs the Model 3 SR hoing for 45.000€
So as far it is going its a fail
all the taxes make premium chinese models very expensive in EU, the cheap models might do better even with high taxes. (BYD Seagull will cost 9000 in China, so even at 15-20000 in EU, will be very competitive, considering that is a better car than Dacia Spring or much cheaper than other options in EU)
I completely agree. If BYD, Xpeng and NIO want a piece of the market, they will have to adjust the price considerably below that of the competition. One remark though: the Tesla model 3 isn't in the same league as the BYD Seal, not in terms of interior and exterior design, not in terms of build quality (materials and fit and finish), not in terms of dynamic capabilities and last but not least not in terms of driving experience.
Seal should be priced similar to Atto 3

I hate the bland austere interior of the Tesla. The first thing that most ppl do in any car is to connect their Android or Apple phone to the central screen, so fact that it comes already built in is awesome, it looks great rather looking like a bubble on wheels, and then you said "Tesla has a presence"!!😂😂 that's when I stopped taking this video seriously. This is where the inspiration came from. They kinda went tesla and picked few inspiration from teh hyundai.
But they did amaging desgin in terms of the side and front.
The back is nice to but is a deal breaker of that round like narrow light desgin.
The should have stuck sam narrow size but instead copy a peugeut or audi backlight.
