Just wanted to comment on this because I'm a soap maker by profession. For melt and pour you need to buy glycerine soap base, it will not foam up in the microwave like your typical store bought soap, and it's very easy to color and mold. It comes in white or clear bases. It only takes about an hour to harden completely. You could also make your own but it takes weeks to fully cure and harden depending on the base oils you use. If you do this again and decide to make your own I'd read up a bit first, or you might end up with lye burns or a soap explosion lol. I haven't carved soap (other than hand trimming bars) but I would imagine that a soap made with a higher percentage of hard oils/butters would be best for that kind of thing. Now I'm curious if there's a market for handmade carving soap, I might have to make some!

When I was still in highschool, soap carving was one of the projects in art class. I didn't have any tools with me at the time so I just used my nails and a spent pen to carve the soap into a book.
Jazza everything can melt to a nice liquid it just depends on how fast it cools and the melting temperature. All the “cottage cheese just wasn’t hot enough. The melting point of soap is mostly 45 - 50 degrees Celsius, the melting point of your plastic measuring cup is 35 - 40 you just couldn’t get the soap hot enough in the microwave while using the plastic jug. (There’s a little science for ya) also while melting its best to leave it to melt and not expect it to happen instantly of course. P.S next time you trie to melt something at least google the melting point of the materials to be on the safe side.
I expected you to carve multiple bars of soap into one piece. Either like a jigsaw puzzle, where they all attach into one form, or like a model village, with tiny houses and tiny people. This was still enjoyable, though. Anyone else reminded of GMM's Soap Cutting video?
Ana Paula Guervara Yeah, they did a video cutting soap, because it's satisfying to do/look at. That's the only similarity between the two videos, though.

Albert Einstein once said, The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. You are insane, Jazza.
This is a common misquote. He NEVER said the insanity thing, obviously as a scientist you *have* to do the same thing, same way, over and over again for different research purposes, such as a control test or retest situation.
@@Ravenkiko That is true, but that isn't the intended purpose. Rather than testing a hypothesis over and over again to make a theory, the lesson is more about proving that a hypothesis is wrong and cannot be formed, but going back a month later to once again try a hypothesis, knowing the same results will ensue. To explain it more simply, think of this: A man walks into a maze and has to look for the way out. He goes in one direction but is met with a dead end, so he goes back, then goes that same direction again. You always need to think of new ways to solve a problem, not do the same thing over and over again until you "win" even if you know the result will always stay the same.
I just had this video pop up on my recommended again. It was the very first Jazza video I ever watched. Very nostalgic and glad this channel made it's way into my world.

There is a soap called Melt And Pour which when put in the microwave for 10 seconds, turns to liquid. Maybe you can use that?
It's made for art, so that most definitely will work.
Nerdy Evy I think he did that
@@landryfeldman2392 No he used cold processed sope
@@landryfeldman2392 The soap in the video isn't melt and pour. It reacts differently when placed in the microwave and generally comes in square blocks instead of the general oval shape. It literally starts to boil when placed in the microwave for just 10 seconds. And can be cut a lot easier. There are different types of melt and pour but most are partly translucent except for the coconut milk melt and pour and a few others.

The devil's likes
I like how you went to the self checkout so people didn’t question why you were buying a bunch of soap : )
The real question is why would he be embarrassed to get like 100000000000 soap
Lachstar 2004 or just buy melt & pour soap...The stuff made for this exact purpose

Soap with lye does not melt because it sets with a chemical reaction, not temp change.

@@callmemaximillian7772 Exactly.
This is a common misquote. He NEVER said the insanity thing, obviously as a scientist you *have* to do the same thing, same way, over and over again for different research purposes, such as a control test or retest situation.
Ravenkiko yes, search it on the internet

Jazza to melt soap i think u need glycerin based soap, which from what ive seen the easiest way to tell is that the soap is translucent, i think pear soap is glycerin based.
edit: i think it needs to be translucent/clear although it can be coloured so for example pear soap is like this browny yellow colour but you can see through it (I THINK)
edit 2: dont quote me on any of this, this was from google lol also thanks for likes
Exactly what I was thinking
Not every glycerin soap are translucent, there can be "solid" color, you can buy white base glycerinb soap
Just know his records have been clean since then
Moisturizing soap will puff in the microwave regular glycerin soap will melt

You can get it from any craft store 😂
