OMG. I can't stop laughing. Not only are you both extremely knowledgeable, but the entertainment factor is off the charts! Every time I watch ANY of these videos, I'm always left inspired to go paint more minis!
I think it would be interesting to show us two minis painted in the same amount of time, one with the crap brushes, and one with a quality brush. Then we can see how it affects the paint job, because to be honest, your paint jobs on the minis are as good or better than I get using quality brushes. So by showing us two models, both painted by the same artist, but with the good and bad tools you can show us how quality tools impact the final product.
It is kind of depressing that you guys are using the worst brushes in the world and are still painting a million times better than I ever will :) But I really enjoyed the video!
Don't feel too bad, even with the worst tools the tools still put paint on the model. And the real way they lose is the time they waste with these brushes, since it becomes so much harder.
When Emil said he cut his tongue, i was all confused. He wasn’t just licking the hair, he was deepthroating the whole brush? and then a few moments later he indeed shows his hidden skills.
13:20 - Hey! I do my best mate. It's not our fault the paint drops off the brush because we're on the underside of a spinning ball. It's not easy living down unda. 😜

@@raccoonhatcity7627 I paint for myself, not anybody else. Am as good as Emil? Hell no. But I would give it a damn good effort. I’m not your typical Australian. There’s a preconceived notion that “Aussies” are laid back, easy going people who are a bit backward. And that’s true for some just like anywhere else. I spent my formative years in England so I’m actually well spoken, well cultured and extremely intelligent. I really enjoy the hobby. The great thing about it is anyone can do it. Not everyone can be as good as the pros are. But does that really matter? I know Emil and Lucas were joking. My reply was tongue in cheek.
As an Australian who “can’t paint”, I am in awe of the Miniatures you guys painted with 1/5 paint brushes. I’ve tried all sorts of cheap and expensive brushes and I still “can’t paint” 🤣. Love your work 😁🇦🇺👍
This is a neat video because it shows how your technique carries you further than equipment. The results honestly look really good for what you had to work with, I was surprised by that first brush results in particular 🤣 my attempt with that thing probably would have looked like an angry toddler got a hold of my minis and tried painting them.
I have some of those brushes with the big and triangular handles. For me the large handle helps as I have fat fingers and some hand/wrist pain when working with small things. And they don’t roll away when you set them down.
Emil has been really attacking Australian painters lately. Now, I may put my shades on the top and highlights on the bottom with our upside-down miniatures. But I think i can do a pretty decent paint job.
I have the "no.3 set" of brushes and like them alot. I use them to paint minis and detail model cars, more so than my "army painter" specific set. As someone with nerve damage, i particularly like the ergonomic handle
The Xacto Knife coming out to trim off the problem brush hairs unlocked a memory for me of 'fixing' my brushes back in the day just like that. All those different sizes labeled '0' makes me think that knockoff company just copied the design off of one brush and had no idea that it was supposed to indicate the size.
I find it amazing that it said 1 or 9 on the brush you got that was reviewed by an Australian. I am impressed by how you can paint to such a high standard even though you use so bad brushes.
Having scrubbed clean a 100+ classic Heroquest minis I got on ebay this week with horrific paintjobs (house paint!), it was nice to see Heroquest minis painted well, albeit with terrible brushes! Thanks!
Another good video and actually pretty informative for people that are trying to find a good mixture of good but cheap brushes…… kinda lol Honestly there are a lot of “bad brushes” out there…. But I guess depending on your definition of “bad” would determine how someone views it! Personally if the brush is almost immediately falling apart, the hairs are falling out, the hairs don’t spread the paint the correct way then I would consider them as a “bad brush”! But if it’s none of those things and I can figure out at least some use for them then I would still give them over 2 stars! The only time that would change is if the brush is promoted as a detail brush and the tip is so thick that you can barely do the base coat properly, now I would have issues again! But I can still use them for something!?! That’s why I’ll buy a bit more expensive brushes for my detail painting, but I will also buy cheap brushes for everything else!!!
But also, once someone realizes how Amazon works and who you are “actually buying” these things from, if you still choose to buy off of Amazon then that’s your own fault for getting ripped off!!! Just saying
You should have a competition between the two of you t opaint the best mini with the worst paint, worst brush, worst epoxy, and worst spray you have reviewed ^^
I'd love to just use my Raphael brushes all the time but they are now $40+ each so I really need to find other brushes to use for the regular stuff and save my Raphael for the fine work. But they are such wonderful brushes to use I just keep defaulting back to them. I found the Rosemary & Co tips to be too thin and small so don't hold enough paint. I can't really justify the extra $10 for a W&N brush. I'm kicking myself for not buying 5x size 1 brushes when they were cheaper. Doh!
I feel like you guys are super generous..... If I would have received the wrong number/type/size brush they get a zero/5. Simply receiving a "usable" brush doesnt mean a 1 in my opinion, sellers need to get their descriptions right. Great Video and at the end of the day you get what you pay for.
In the defense of the seller, this is because of how Amazon aggregates listings. The first company that sold this item will have been selling all nine probably for a lot more. this seller will have added their 1 item onto Amazon and Amazon will have just gone "Same thing" and added it to the existing listing. Because they are much cheaper as they are only selling one they then show first on the listing.

Hi :) just in case you don’t get their answer. Two things that I learned while getting into the hobby. 1. I wish that I tried different paint brands before buying a larger amount of colours just to find the kind I really like. The easiest to use so far in my opinion; AK interactive paints and Citadel paints. Just a little warning about the citadel, they dry easily if you don’t close them properly (don’t just press on the front of the lid, press by the hinge also and clean the lid now and then.) Other paints I’ve tried needed some thinning to behave, I like them but they are not really beginner friendly . Speed paints and contrast are great but sort of hard to use, mistakes can’t be covered up or corrected without additional opaque paints. 2. Invest in good quality brushes, it is worth it and use a bit larger brushes than you think would be suitable. The smallest ones are a pain in some ways. Also don’t buy really cheap natural hair brushes, they are the worst because of the softness mentioned but also because they are the only kind that seems to lose bristles that get stuck in your paint job, invest the same amount in synthetics instead if you don’t want to invest in more expensive hair brushes. I enjoy my semi expensive synthetic brushes the most I think because they are a bit stiffer than the natural hair and I don’t feel as precious about them. A really good natural hair brush is hard to beat though. Hope this helps :) its so cool that your daughter wants to get into the hobby :) I hope she finds a great community when she gets out there!

Just a little warning about the citadel, they dry easily if you don’t close them properly (don’t just press on the front of the lid, press by the hinge also and clean the lid now and then.)
Other paints I’ve tried needed some thinning to behave, I like them but they are not really beginner friendly .
