I just bought the 2013 Ninja 1000...and I love it. I give up some to super sports on the top end, but amazing torque, and pull down low. Its exhilarating! Ill trade the top end for the comfort and low end zip, Im not looking to go 170 anyway. Great vid. Stay safe.
I was quoted insurance for z1000 $33/mo, and ninja 1000 was $41/mo... So, it really depends on circumstances, age, driving record, etc... But anyhow DO check insurance before getting the bike :) ... Plan to snatch one of these on this coming spring!!! :)
Bimmermpower4 I think I have watched all of StW's vids, nice ride and thanks :)! If you swap out that front sprocket I think you pick up 9mph. With the n1k's torque you shouldn't really notice much other than less buzz at cruising speeds, plus I think the speedo becomes more accurate :)
SALTxTHExWOUND I’m Curious. The web says only a top speed of 152 but I’ve seen multiple people hit higher. I also read it has a speed limiter on it. I’m looking at a 2013 model right now. Any information you can share? Thank you
Thanks man. No Upgrades. 2013 stock. Yes, This bike is worth EVERY PENNY! I came from a ninja 650r and this bike is everything I thought it would be AND MORE! You'd think the 650 would handle better because of less weight --- I take corners at twice the speed on this thing. The higher quality suspension and longer wheelbase make ALL the Difference. Add quadruple the power and you got the NINJA 1000.
First of all.. take Gazzz87's advice. Yes, my friend was pulling away at times - keep in mind, the Ninja 1000 is a 'sport touring' motorcycle. the GSXR is a 'Supersport'. He definitely has a bit more speed in the high revs but believe me.. he had to do work to keep up in the low/mid revs. My friend has also been riding that bike for 6 years, so chances are your buddy will not carry speeds like that.
What a beautiful bike. Currently on a ninja 650, and am looking forward to this next. I've ridden the n1k before and its just a whole new ball game. Have you done any long trips on it?
If you position the Windscreen to the lowest position, you actually do get a sporty look. But i agree, Mid position or High it looks awkward. I wouldn't worry about it or let it effect your thoughts on this bike - the Performance is so Impressive and the ride is soo good and smooth, BUY IT> YOU WONT REGRET IT
i bought the puig windscreen for mine, it does look better with that windscreen, on my road trip from bogota (colombia) to almost every place in ecuador, a 2800 miles trip with really hard conditions, i had to ride it on a montain with an elevation of around 13800 feet, bad shape roads, curvy roads all the time, the high position windscreen was the best to ride comfortably
I love speed and always have, but I'll be the first one to admit that I would be dead if I bought a bike like this because I would be beating the hell out of it and eventually my luck would run out. I'm happy with my Harley. With the mods I have installed I am running low 12's in the 1/4 mile. That's nothing compared to even a 600cc sport bike obviously, but for an extremely comfortable cruising bike, my low 12 second, 725 pound 103 ci Harley Fat Boy is plenty fast enough for me. Awesome video guys. Be careful out there. Crashing at those speeds would not be fun.
I’m looking for one of these got a couple good leads but I believe I will gear mine for less RPM and more highway speed as I want it to last a lot of miles!
bad ass video my man! it was pulling power wheelies in 3rd gear! what mods do you have in this bike if any... i can't wait to upgrade from the Ninja 650r... lol, looks to be plenty worth it
Those are some sweet gloves your friend has on. I know it makes me sound old, but dude - for those kinds of speeds and stunts, get some full track gear lol. Sweet video though! I'm thinking of getting the same bike eventually!
How's the vibration at highway speeds? I have an aprilia that made my hands numb at 75 mph @ 6000 rpm or so but thank god it went away. Never thought about that before but I hear these vibrate. Was thinking about one of these but the possible vibration is a little concerning.
Im thinkin about one. But what is your friend riding. I want to be able to keep up with my buddies 750 gsxr. It looks like your friend was pulling away at times
Thanks for the reply. One more question. About how many miles do you get out of each tank of gas roughly? My aprilia low fuel light comes on between 80-100 miles. Sucks. Kills a lot of longer rides for me. 160 wouod be about the minimum i would want.
All I can think of is what if a farmer enters the road pulling his big ole harvesting implement? Damn that would suck! Somebody else guesses MN roads I'm guessing IA... Nice bike and badass riding! Stay safe!
Im not riding for the wrong reasons. I don't want to be in a group full of bikes. All of them being 750cc or higher and get left like I do now on my 650r.
Why not just buy a zx10r? 650 atleast has great gas mileage. Maybe it wad riding position or price compared to the ss? Id want a zz14 if I did a lot of touring. Nice bike tho.
Yea I'm out in Tennessee and I LIVE in the mountains and twisty roads, but I'm not the smallest guy (5'10" 220) and the front end of the Ninja 650r just acts like saggy titties when I'm hard on the brakes and even mid corner lol, and I see the acceleration on this video too! this thing goes like a rabid dog all the way to top speed and I'm sure I'd be happy enough going 150+...thanks for posting!
The ninja 1000 has SIGNIFICANTLY better performance than the 650cc Model. The 1043cc 4 cylinder in the Ninja1000 (the 650 is a parallel twin mind you) Is a Massive step up. That means more tourqe at even lower rpms (and the 650 has a bit of grunt so you can imagine) and nearly DOUBLE the Horsepower up top.. Litterally. Specs are 74hp 650cc 138hp 1000cc. Suspension is Better and it handles better.
I currently have the ER6F (Ninja 650r) and im looking to upgrade to this bike, would you say its a worthy investment for those looking for more power and modern technology but not interested in the supersport models such as the zx6+10.
Whatever you like for you riding style, but you may want to ditch using the clutch. You will get a smoother acceleration and instant shifts without having to manage wheelies - I assume you are ktrc 0. GL and keep the shiny side up!
Bimmermpower4 I agree. Try downshifting with no clutch . Much smoother downshifts if you load and and load transmition roigh before clicking it down. I would also avoid crossing double yellow lines.
Maintenance.. Don't cheap out - Oil changes ever 1500 or so.. Brake fluid every two years. O/C 40$ to do yourself. Reliability is Great - Rear tires get about 3500mi on the aggressive riding side. Insurance.. sky high - dont buy coverage you don't need! get the minimum you can. Gas mileage sucks compared to 650 - so if commuting is #1 don't get this bike. It's more of a want for power pleasure. Hope these aid in your decision. This bike is worth EVERY PENNY to me.
Try to sharpen up those downshifts with some throttle blips...dragging the clutch like that could unstick that rear tire, and if your in a turn while that happens... I think you know the rest! Great video showing off what this bike can do though!
Yes it's much better to learn the powerband of your bike so they become second nature...that way when your in a hairy situation, you can focus on other things! should come with more hours in the saddle!
Clutch in turn at 315 use the bikes power to your advantage and stay in gear also counter steer helps push right lean right go right . Your body is too stiff through turns loosen it up some
The gravel was 50/50 on these roads and it was filmed only weeks after having owned the bike. That particular turn was wet with gravel hence why I 'rolled through it' with the clutch in then shifted quick early right after. watch again 3:02 my friend even waved me to slow down before entering the turn because he knew..
Dude, my apologizes, I meant that comment for salt the wounds 10, 000 mile review, don't know how it got on your vid, Thanks for the info just the same!
Hit me up on face book steve godfrey franklinville nj. Were are you from? I see alot of corn..I keep my windshield down, except for them cool jersey mornings..itblooks as good as any sportbike out there with the shield down..hit me on fb
i have this same bike. i would never push it that hard. thats why im glad there's people like you guys to show me whats possible. I love this bike!
hahaha.. for sure man.. i grew up racing motocross and been riding street for 5 years now - This bike is a good performer.. and COMFORTABLE TOO!!
I just bought the 2013 Ninja 1000...and I love it. I give up some to super sports on the top end, but amazing torque, and pull down low. Its exhilarating! Ill trade the top end for the comfort and low end zip, Im not looking to go 170 anyway. Great vid. Stay safe.
Had the pleasure of riding a Ninja 1000 at a Kawasaki Demo Days ride. Very fast and comfortable. It's the best bike I have ever ridden.
Good to hear.
This is my favorite bike to ride so far. So much power in any gear and so comfortable to ride!
I was quoted insurance for z1000 $33/mo, and ninja 1000 was $41/mo... So, it really depends on circumstances, age, driving record, etc... But anyhow DO check insurance before getting the bike :) ... Plan to snatch one of these on this coming spring!!! :)
Sweet vid, I have the 2012 N1K also, I've hit 163mph on it :)
nice.. i knew it had a LITTLE more... If the wind was less and maybe a slight downhill id shoot for 165mph
+Gary Kelly question, coz I'm planning on getting a N1k, saw your comment on changing up the front sprocket, to what?
I have the 2011 and I hit 169 MPH on it, but its knows that the 2011 is the fastest year Ninja 1000
SALTxTHExWOUND I’m

Yes sir we do. I ride Nearby tracks as well frequently with this bike.. Its ALL AROUND Great! I'm in love with it.

You'll eat your lunch someday running those speeds on a two lane... you can bet on it.
Yo dude, when you going to make some more Ninja 1k videos??
Awesome Video, I have a 2014 Ninja 1000 ABS. I love this bike!! I really need to get a camera ha ha
What a beautiful bike.
Currently on a ninja 650, and am looking forward to this next.
I've ridden the n1k before and its just a whole new ball game. Have you done any long trips on it?
same here! upgraded from the 650 to the Z1000sx and i love it!
Great video

Tammy,
And lunch thru a straw from then on.
But..., young and foolish.
"You can always tell a fool."
"You just can't tell 'em much." ...
bad ass video my man! it was pulling power wheelies in 3rd gear! what mods do you have in this bike if any... i can't wait to upgrade from the Ninja 650r... lol, looks to be plenty worth it
Thanks ,
Great video you guys know how to enjoy a good run, I mean maximum speed in a quiet road.
The older ones had vibration, the newer ones have that engineered out.
@Bimmermpower4 is this in wisconsin by chance?
Those are some sweet gloves your friend has on. I know it makes me sound old, but dude - for those kinds of speeds and stunts, get some full track gear lol.

Nice bike and badass riding! Stay safe!
How much better is the ninja 1000 over the 650? MPG, maintenance, insurance are worth the difference?
wicked vid... i just bought a 2014 Ninja 1000... love it... where are you btw? those look like western MN country roads to me!
Insurance is cheap giving the right factors. But 1500 miles between oil changes? Unless you're at the track most of the time it's a waste of money.
157mph on a road like that?! Awesome but crazy!
I love this video. I ride the ninja 1000 as well.
Sweet man.. I love this bike - cant wait for spring.

Do you have to hide from the windscreen to ride fast or the windscreen is enough to handle you fast in an upright position?
Would to have like to seem more wheelies
Great vid. Thanks!
superrrrub bike in the riding history of the world... i would like to own it....in my future........
I currently have the ER6F (Ninja 650r) and im looking to upgrade to this bike, would you say its a worthy investment for those looking for more power and modern technology but not interested in the supersport models such as the zx6+10.
Defenetively a good upgrade. It's like a comfortable zx-10r with a bit less power.
absolutely.. sounds like its exactly what your looking for..
UPGRADE. I know i am as of this week to the 1000. OMG it is amazing ride.
Is this a better bike than the Z1000?
Whatever you like for you riding style, but you may want to ditch using the clutch. You will get a smoother acceleration and instant shifts without having to manage wheelies - I assume you are ktrc 0. GL and keep the shiny side up!
I Never use the clutch on the racetrack except for downshifts obviously.. Check out My Road America Vid if you want to see my Race Style.
Bimmermpower4 I agree. Try downshifting with no clutch . Much smoother downshifts if you load and and load transmition roigh before clicking it down. I would also avoid crossing double yellow lines.

Hey Bimmerpower4 - my n1k is hibernating for winter right now. Do you happen to know what top speed in first gear is ?
Try to sharpen up those downshifts with some throttle blips...dragging the clutch like that could unstick that rear tire, and if your in a turn while that happens... I think you know the rest! Great video showing off what this bike can do though!
Yes it's much better to learn the powerband of your bike so they become second nature...that way when your in a hairy situation, you can focus on other things! should come with more hours in the saddle!
Dam man hope you dont crash 150 with no gear on man. Nice bike and riding man.
i have gear on, my friend doesnt - i told him to buy some shit man
Clutch in turn at 315 use the bikes power to your advantage and stay in gear also counter steer helps push right lean right go right . Your body is too stiff through turns loosen it up some

motoklx Hah, No prob.
please get your self leathers if you come if it could save you
Excellent choice of clothing for traveling at those speeds. Dress for the slide, not for the ride.
私も早くバイクに乗りたい!
That's it? Mine does 173
I went 168mph on my 2015 ninja , all stock
Yeah DUDE
What the hell was your buddy on. seemed to pull much harder on the top end.
gsxr 750
I am seriously considering this bike but if I get it that windscreen has got to go. Its one of the ugliest things I've ever seen haha.
This is a 600 Ninja ?! Never a 1000
I Just bought this bike In June. Its a 2013 Ninja 1000. its apparent just from that comment you have very little motorcycle experience and knowledge.
I have a 2012 ZX-1000....this bike is a 1000...not a 600!
Ninja 1000 dude.
Just in case no one else has said it, this is a Ninja 1000.
Hit me up on face book steve godfrey franklinville nj. Were are you from? I see alot of corn..I keep my windshield down, except for them cool jersey mornings..itblooks as good as any sportbike out there with the shield down..hit me on fb
あんまり飛ばすと危ないよ〜
ninja 1000's wont do 157mph, sorry.
You're right mine does 173
Mine did 153 (speedo corrected) with my fat ass on it and windshield up..
Your right mine wont so let me know where to meet you on you GSXR750 so we can prove it?
