This video by DeWayne Hasty is the BEST 1000SX mod description/explanation that I’ve found on TH-cam. Dense w/enough info to start researching the mods or to save your time make the mods that he has done here. Thank you!
Thanks esp. for including a link to the tail bag. I'm considering a used FZ1, but it would work well on that, too. I like the clean look. Of course now, I want to look at a Ninja 1000, too!
Have it. 2017 with 35k miles. Mine: 55-series rear tire - makes a difference. 41 tooth from a 39 tooth. Gives me about 600 rpm lower at 80mph. I have THREE screens - stock, cold day, and damn cold day. Dropped foot pegs an inch - bit more comfortable. Installed factory 12v charger port. Oh yeah - full Delkevic headers and exhaust (cat delete). Bought the factory boxes that match color. They hold a TON and easy on and off - but yeah, $1k. Ride safe!
Was waiting for some talk about the seat. Did you like it? How many miles can you do before pain? Does the winged back allow you to shift around in aggressive riding? Do you have any pain in the perineum man spots after a long ride (some customs provide a groove down the middle to relieve pressure)? Money well spent?
I have the same bike. I need to look into the Ivans flash work. The bike could use some smoothing in the throttle. Mine doesnt feel that bad but it needs improvement.
You didn't mention the seat. i want to add that the bike needs a 5mm change for smoother turn ins. I am only 5'5" so i couldn't do a taller rear tire. 190/55. so i had the front lowered 5mm had the same affect on steering as you mentioned. to those who lowered the bike front and rear a inch or two dont do it. the bike will fall into corners, oversteer badly. Also you will lose your breaking distance because the bike is traveling too far thru the suspension unless you get a sag change. all on all this is a great bike.
Raising the forks about 10mm in the triple trees has nearly the same effect as a taller rear tire, without messing up the speedo. Did you notice any reduction in engine vibrations after the Ivan's flash?
Thanks bro! The dealer couldn't even find them. The ones they found were not to good looking and wanted $500 or more to install! Thanks again! Peace and ride safe!
@@jonesjonz1 any normal sized guy 6ft + you'll need a larger windscreen on most bikes for highway travel. Wind noise makes comms unusable. Also consider your pillion passenger
@@slickdog2100 I'm 6'4" I understand, BUT I wouldn't put something that looks like that on my bike. I wear a helmet and so does my passenger so I don't have to go to that extreme. I bought the C14 so I would have the adjustability and still have nice sleek looking windscreen. Be safe out there ...enjoy
Yea the on off switch throttle is a real problem on these type of bikes Suzuki’s are the same way it’s either nothing or wide open. On it the throttle was the problem you change it to the GSXR mode one and it fixes it! And I always used a back back and a bag on the back being held down by a net on my bikes works perfect for me the back bags even works a little like a back rest to! I did use a tank bag on the real long hauls when I needed to carry More stuff and it made it more comfortable to! I either leaned back on the back bag or up front on the tank bag made it comfortable either way! Only thing that bothered me was vibration man did the old ninja’s vibrate through the bars like crazy by the time I got where I was going I couldn’t even sign my name at the motel 😂
ivan flash is a 10000% must have.. try smoothly gunning it at a stop light and take a left or a right.. you have to corner like a newb with the stock ecu.
Great job! I have the same year and have Ivan's flash and the 195 rear tire. I have the Puig windscreen. It looks better than stock but doesn't provide much wind protection beyond the stock screen. I need to get yours but the look will be something I have to learn to tolerate. I would like to hear about your tailbag and seat.
Nice little brake oil cover. I'm looking to get the ninja 1000 but found that brake oil reservoir was just blah looking and in your face. hope some if these issues will be solved with 2017.
like the mods you've done, what make of raised bars are they. Just bought an eighteen plate 1000 miles on the clock, ridden a couple of older sx es they are great, good choice.
That windshield looks goofy my guy and you even said it does! Who even uses them? The part of the point of a bike versus a cage IS the wind hitting your face.
Hello , I have a Ninja 1000 sx 2020 . Can you give the manufacturing of your handlebar riser please ? I was looking on CNC handlebars but I 'm not shuure I can planced on my motorcycle ...
IVAN is great for all Kawasaki bikes, I have the 1700 and it is night and day. A REQUIRED MOD, Or sell it. Cuz they suck without it. SERIOUSLY , MUST HAVE #1 to fix your bike.
I recommend you visit the website for exactly what changes are done to the ECU. From my experience it removes a lot of the throttle ON throttle OFF (throttle chopping) feeling.
i had the same problem with turning, i found simply it was due to the tyres having flat spots from motorway riding changed the tyres and the bike was like brand new

Forget what the majority think, I suffer as well with the wind blast and head buffeting. Function over form alright!
Thanks esp. for including a link to the tail bag.

Tire sounds like an interesting mod
WHERE DID YOU GET THE SEAT???????!????????!!!???????

Nice mod's. Hoping u were gonna tell about the seat...
same
The seat is from Seth Laam at www.laamseats.com
Was waiting for some talk about the seat. Did you like it? How many miles can you do before pain? Does the winged back allow you to shift around in aggressive riding? Do you have any pain in the perineum man spots after a long ride (some customs provide a groove down the middle to relieve pressure)? Money well spent?
Your Laam seat, is yours the oversized option or regular option that they offer? Your bike is set up nice! Thanks.
I have the same bike. I need to look into the Ivans flash work. The bike could use some smoothing in the throttle. Mine doesnt feel that bad but it needs improvement.
I have Ivans ecu flash highly recommended you be very happy

Linwood: When you say you lower the front,do you mean via a smaller tire?
That windshield is ugly. Woof. The small blindspot mirrors only block your actual good mirror vision, I never understand why people do this.
Raising the forks about 10mm in the triple trees has nearly the same effect as a taller rear tire, without messing up the speedo.
Did you notice any reduction in engine vibrations after the Ivan's flash?
Good review & helpful. Thanks!
Nice video. I am 6'2" 33 inseam, and this bike is on my short list. I think your mods will work for what I am looking to do.
Lol they said Pope Hat. The windscreen definitely is silly. Also, much better fender eliminators out there. And yes, the seat looks nice.
Thanks bro! The dealer couldn't even find them. The ones they found were not to good looking and wanted $500 or more to install! Thanks again! Peace and ride safe!
Important change is mirrors extenders
A pope's hat is called a mitre. I don't know why I know that.
Hey, just watched your video. Thanks for your input. There are a couple of good deals on 2014 models here in Tennessee.
I'm 6'3 and basically 6'4 with my shoes ondo you think I'm too tall for the Ninja 1000 specifically the 2013 model
Nice mods minus the pope hat lol!
Well, it's bigger than the one I liked on my FZ1. but he's taller, too.
Yea well if you was our size you would want that for sure! Nothing worse then wind noise and wind burn form riding all day!
@@tammyforbes2101 what size might that be?

I think that’s great what you’ve done. For me something like the FJR or Concourse isn’t sporty enough being over 600 pounds.
Forget the stupid comments. You made the bike your own, good on you.
What is the windshield part #? Thx

greenrolaids No.
Zoltan Csikos do you know any info about the flash?

Where from do you get that wind shield
What brand of tail tide did you do?

Thanks DeWayne. What size V-Stream is that you're using?
Obviously you forgot the seat!

Nice bike....love it!
Very nice fender eliminator, where you buy this. I like this model but I can't find.

What’s with the Gumby visor, it’s a sport tourer, ridiculous .
Did Ecu flash void the warranty?

Hi nice mods!
Can you elaborate more on what were the modification on the ECU to make the throttle smoother?
I recommend you visit the website for exactly what changes are done to the ECU. From my experience it removes a lot of the throttle ON throttle OFF (throttle chopping) feeling.
Full exhaust and filter would have dropped 21 pounds and given you a load more power.
Awwww you made it gay.
Lmao true
🤣
🤦🏿♂️
What size tire did you go to? Why does this improve handling?
If you had it over again, would you get the same seat? Completely happy with it?
I have the exact same bike. I ended up going with the sargent seat because the factory seat is horrid. What seat is that you have on your bike?
I have a Corbin on mine.
Did you do anything different to the bike other than disconnecting and sending in your ecu to Ivan and then receiving it back and plugging it back in?
i had the same problem with turning, i found simply it was due to the tyres having flat spots from motorway riding
changed the tyres and the bike was like brand new
thanks!
Foam grips took away the vibes
That's not a stock seat. What is it?
He has links in the text under the video. Click "read more."
Where did you get the brake reservoir sock?
EBay
Where did you get the sliders from?
What seat is that?
Hey quick question, is that Vstream windscreen , the tall size version (N20123) or is it the medium size version of it (N20122) ??
Handle bar risers ? Where you get them? I have a 2013.

What brand is the rear fender eliminator ?
Thanks
hay can you send me brand of you seat bag thank you awesome bike :)

I'm guessing you're about 70 years old??🤔
Not bad but I think I can do without the wind visor. That thing makes the bike Goofy and you got to look sharp for the Ladies.... Man
I agree
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just buy Honda Goldwing ; then to basically build one?
You nailed, Chief! I'm suprised Kawasaki hasn't sued this guy for deformation of design!
Sound so boring
Buy an Adventure bike you dork. Ruined a perfectly good bike.
Where did u buy your handle bar risers??????
What seat is that?
