    Excellent tips. Btw, when you choose an app from the circular menu, you don't have to tap the little icon. Just tap the name area on the centre of the screen to open it. No need to try to tap little icons which can be awkward with big fingers!

    1. Closing apps manually won't save battery life. The OS is quite capable of doing that by itself. 2. Turning off BT doesn't save power because it's energy consumption is minimal by design. 3. Location is only used when using location based services. Turning it off isn't smart. If you follow all these recommendations you end up using your smart watch like a tamagochi. Is that smart?

    • @postnick
      @postnick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Right - the Location thing is a holdover from Android 2.x as is closing apps.

      I agree. What's the point of getting a SMARTWATCH? If your focusing only to save battery life better buy a real classic watch instead. Smartwatch is a smartwatch.

      I'm disappointed I didn't read this comment before turing off the BT on my watch Arrggh!😡 So mad. this morning it wasn't connecting with my phone . I spend an 45 mins with customer service. They couldn't figure out what was the problem WHY my phone couldn't connect with my watch. . I was about to get it shipped off to get it repair.
      But then On my own🤔 I figure it out. It stop working after turning off the Bluetooth on the watch. Duh 😧. Once I turn it back on and had to reset the watch. it work again!. Geesh.

      Trish Holbrook works perfect now. I left Bluetooth on as I wanted it to work with iPhone when getting calls . Changing all the Notifications and brightness made a big difference . 25% battery loss in 8 hrs made a huge difference compared to 100% in 4 🤦‍♂️. It’s great now that i can look at my watch for text and calls 👍

  • @Animalwon
    @Animalwon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You have to do a few things to get the battery life you hear about on those TH-cam video's, even the 46mm version can benefit too. First, choose a simple, old fashion-style watch face (or one with few info widgets). Second, Turn Heart beat detection to ONCE every 10 minutes. Third, turn DOWN the screen brightness to #5 or less. By default the screen brightness is set to #6 or 7. Fourth, Deactivate the ALWAYS ON screen. In fact, switch it turn on when you move your wrist to view the time. Last but not least -Turn off or decrease the GPS usage - GPS on watches can really suck the battery dry, REALLY QUICK! Keep yourself from installing any apps or keep yourself from using apps on watch until you see how long you can use your watch before charging. ALSO, try to turn off the watch at end of your day. Take notice of your battery level at shut off. If you have done all this, you should see your battery levels decline by only about 20-25% per day of use. Once you get close to this goal, you can go crazy using your phone apps..just watch your battery usage so you can estimate how much longer you can go before needing a charge! 42mm typically can get ABOUT 2 Days of light use, 46mm models can get about 4 days. But you will get less than half if you use music apps or make a lot of phone calls or have the GPS always on.

    Awesome tips I especially like closing all apps.. it's tough to tell what's open, if anyone knows a way, please reply. Re: screen on/off, I turn it off completely so I have to use the lower button to switch on. Besides saving battery, if it flicks on when I'm sleeping, it wakes me up soketimes

    I am torn between the Bluetooth version & the LTE version - £100 difference is quite steep for just LTE.
    Can LTE be switched off when you want to?
    Would having it connected by Bluetooth to your phone switch LTE off or would it prioritise Bluetooth over LTE (making LTE passive not active - reducing battery consumption) ?

    Is there an always on screen for the time only like on the old Pebbles ?

      Yes there is. The cool part about the always on screen is that each watch face has a different always on clock.

  • @kasinee05
    @kasinee05 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got the 42mm and it literally can not last even a full 5 hours. Did a factory reset and still had the same issue so I went back and got a new one. Hopefully this helps because when I track my th watch it loosed 1% every 6 minutes and when I check to see what's draining it is just the watchface which is ridiculous because I'm not even on anyother apps.

    When you have it connected to your phone by Bluetooth isn't your phone still connected to LTE so youre eating the battery twice as fast now since you have Bluetooth and your network on?

    • @rajgill7576
      @rajgill7576 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nah man, its not like you have "10 batter units" and each feature just takes one. Every feature on your phone uses energy differently. The biggest is always the screen and processor with the heat and light they produce. LTE is significantly less but still a contender, because its long range. Bluetooth is a low energy, short range connection.
      If it were out of 10, screen eats like 5, lte 2, bluetooth 1.

    • @benojika1851
      @benojika1851 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @rajgill7576

      @@benojika1851 i have not had an LTE model before, so I cant say if it turns off, but probably does, for airplane mode etc.
      Its not JUST $100 more expensive, you pay 10 monthly for the lte plan also. I personally cannot see the point of lte on the watch for me, I never leave my phone.

      @@benojika1851 if you get the LTE version it automatic switches from LTE when you're not near your phone as soon as your near your phone it switches back to Bluetooth it does it automatically for you I have the LTE as I leave my phone at home while walking the dog says taking my large note 8 as it's to big for my coat pocket .The LTE version is more expensive but I've owned both bluetooth and LTE and prefer the LTE version as I love not having to take my phone always with me

    3:25 If you leave the raise to wake feature on it will burn more battery than if you turn it off and use the AOD only. Most people's daily activities put their wrist in a position that causes the display to illuminate often, without the user wanting it to. Activities such as driving a car, or typing on a computer/office-type work.

    • @reecedowley3851
      @reecedowley3851 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is so wrong. Using the raise to wake will save tons more battery than AOD.
