I don't know if you have mentioned this before on other video: a way to shorten charging time drastically, point a fan toward the watch while charging and it cools off the watch while charging and doesn't trigger the slowing down to prevent overheating. I can charge to a 100% while taking my shower in morning, from a very low battery (9%). PS... your tips are great and I am going to use most of them and see if I can get through 24 hours without having to charge.

Thank you for the detailed video. I bought the GW4 yesterday and I was beginning to have buyers remorse after experiencing and hearing how quickly the battery drains. My GW battery pales in comparison to the GW4. Since implementing your suggestions I've seen a change, though I've only had the watch ⌚️ for a few hours. I really saw the difference in power today since wearing it for 24 hours. Great video and thanks again. Update: After wearing the watch for 36 hours consecutively, I've noticed a huge increase in battery life. So after waking up Monday morning at 6:15, it was around 90% (with help of initiating bed time mode, power saving, etc). I did a mini charge before leaving for work. By 4pm, it was around 80%! I did keep it in power saving so I think that really helped. 😅

@Shawn Titus charge to 100% can make the battery health worse by a small bit every time, same with phones. That's probably why my phone has "protect battery" that will limit it to 85%. I'm just letting you know 🙃

Thanks for the video! I've had the original Galaxy Watch for three years and I was getting 5 - 7 days out of it only really using it for notifications and to tell the time, with the odd use of a calculator, timer, messages, phone calls and exercise tracking. But it was starting to feel really clunky. So when I saw the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic was on sale for Boxing Day, I jumped on it and got one. And though I understand why it chews through the battery, I was still greatly disappointed to hear about the battery life 😅 But after reading some comments I am hopeful these suggestions will make a difference, thanks!
Got mine 15.12.21 and repaired twice. Battery last 28-29 hrs before n now about 25hrs with almost everything turned off. It's now a sleep watch instead of a smart watch.
Great video. Thank you for the tips, and the most important one for me was the G-board. I usually reply to message via voice since the Samsung keyboard was cumbersome, but now with the G-board, I can swipe and go. Buying the extras charger is something that I highly recommend, with a Samsung fast charge adapter. I have one for home, work, and car as I use my watch heavily.

Hi everyone on this page. From purchasing the very first Samsung watch which was the gear S and then the gear s3 Frontier I can honestly say I was spoilt from an early age. As both of these were taken off charge from 6.00AM in the morning and still had approximately 40% battery life around 11.00 PM. I purchased the watch 4 and was disappointed with the battery life. I seriously took it back and told the salesman there was a problem with the battery. He told me that this watch is great and has great functions but unfortunately we are getting the same complaints from a lot of customers. If you’re looking for a watch that you don’t have to worry about charging it in the middle of the day then this watch is not for you. I know my next watch will be the galaxy watch 5 Pro. Please don’t take this the wrong way but I was expecting the watch 4 to perform like my previous watches. Thank you to the gentleman who posted the TH-cam video on battery saving tips. Great job mate.
Hey I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for doing these videos. I just bought me a 4 classic, love it but I needed help learning the new features and power saving settings coming from an active 5. You helped me with that and for that I am definitely appreciative. Really thank you for this video! I had my doubts on whether I should get the Galaxy Watch 4, but replying with the Gboard and the swype gesutres looked great, and before buying it, I found your video, which relaxed me quite a lot in regard of the battery life. Now I've just finished customizing my Watch 4 with your tips and I'm looking forward to at least 1-2 comfortable days of battery life!
@@zilmerx1652 I'm quite satisfied, to be honest! Using the watch from around 8am to 11pm every day I never worry about battery life, it always reaches the end of the day with around 35% battery on busy days (when I register my workouts), sometimes 60 or 70% if I barely used it (if I only looked at the time and notifications). Apps work great too, though bear in my mind I'm not a super heavy user like others. I don't pay with the watch, I don't play music directly from there (I still use the media controls when I use my phone, though), I don't monitor my sleep or my oxygen levels, I don't connect it directly to the wifi unless there's an update (I think it's better to do wifi stuff with the phone only) and of course mine doesn't use a sim card. Instead, I check the time and weather, reply to messages with Gboard, register my workouts (1-2 hours every day), occasionally use maps for 30 minutes a day and I see my notifications. Oh and I indeed have my always on display activated and sometimes I have animated or colored watch faces, at the highest brightness. And it works really great for me. And without ever using the power saving options of the watch, only some of the tips in this videos :) If you want to use absolutely everything the watch offers, chances are you'll struggle with the battery. But if you are a user like me, you'll be completely satisfied and with no worries whatsoever :)
THANK YOU! Was thinking I made a huge mistake after getting my first ever smart watch because the battery drained so fast, it was barely useful. Really appreciate the time you took to put this together, so incredibly helpful!
I still believe we did make a mistake buying this particular watch. This video is all about "turn off this feature, that feature" to extend battery life. However, it's those features that made us buy it in the first place.
Do you experience any temporary screen burn when using AOD? I noticed burn in after just a couple days using my watch, so I returned it and got a new one, but I'm still having the same issue with the new one.
@@xian3000 when you're in-doors manually set brightness to just bellow 3 o'clock, outdoors keep it around 5, i also notice slight burn-in but barely visible on max "flashlight mode" brightness
@@xian3000 consider switching off aod every once in a while, i noticed it somewhat heals itself a bit idk. Just checked and it's more noticeable than before even with using "lowest aod" brightness LOL, my watch is 3 months old tho. It is also noticeable only when using flashlight normally it doesn't make a problem
Excellent set off suggestions, I have used quite a few of them. The only point is if I have spent around $350/- for a smartwatch, then I'd expect it to provide some of the capabilities on the fly. Some of them, like AOD or continuous heart and Stress measurements, etc., can be avoided, but LTE connectivity and wake-up on wrist movements are essential for the Watch. Watch wise it is a brilliant watch, but Battery wise, it really sucks. I actually thought, it will be better because the new chip is more efficient
@@jas350 I turned off different things and noticed a huge difference for example, where Google listens for "hey google" you can turn it off and also the constant heart rate monitoring, and turn off raise to wake and reduce screen brightness. Now I get to the end of the day with about 50% battery left 👍🏻
Hello; I came across your videos which I find to be the best which is why I liked, subscribed, and shared them. I don't wear watches because I don't like the feel of watches, but with a new job in the Cardiovascular unit of the hospital, I find that I need to purchase my first smartwatch - primarily for voice reminders for frequent blood transfusion reminders for example. I didn't hear you speak of voice reminders; however, after watching many of your videos, I assume this feature is readily available on all Samsung models(?) Maybe the smaller watch is better because it would be easier to clean/sanitize bodily fluids? What is your recommendation for hospital use, the regular or the classic Samsung device (money is not a determining factor)?
OK I subbed. I have owned the sport 2 and the original classic style and never knew many of these. About to get the new 46mm classic and these will come in handy. One that I found useful was to use the big green face that's one of the standard options and lowering the screen brightness to 2 or 3. He green thick numbers are very easy to read with minimal brightness and saves a ton of battery.
I set mine up how I like to use it with little concern for battery life and ended up having it run about 3 days before I charged it. Now I just charge it every time I shower and never worry about it.
That's the way to do it. I didn't trust the "use it normally, charge it at 5% and just give it some days " advice but I did and it went from 11 to 14 to 18 to 30 hrs in the last week.
It's work by reduce brightness, use it with not more than 50%. And changed in to short vibrate type. AOD and full notification, 11 hours only 45%. Amazing 😁
well I think theres something you dont know about samsung and google steal your dat just like facebook and they use your data for advertising they use your data to show you the best matching ads and videos for you
Great and awesome video but, one problem so far. At the 6:20 mark you cut out how you got to the text settings to turn them off?. Please advise. Thank You. Keep the vid's coming. Appreciate you.
Does any one know how to stop your Samsung galaxy watch 4 from counting steps whilst cycling on a stationary bike? Also, in the same exercise bike mode, it records activity for up to 20minutes then all of a sudden stops (as though I've ended the workout). So I have to start it over? I've made sure it's all up to date and have even tried a factory reset and still not fixed
Thank you!! I learned so much about my awesome new watch and I'm excited to hopefully see my battery life improve. I look forward to checking out your other videos! Cheers. :)
Your video is the best of the best. You explain everything at the right pace. Not too fast. Congratulations and keep it up. I personally use my treadmill everyday. I have my Note using Samsung Health. Also have my 4 and use Bluetooth to sync. I would love too see my step count move along on my watch as I walk. I have to stop and sync with Health . Is there an adjustment or you have to do it as I have been doing it?
Watch faces can show you steps only and/or steps plus time. There's also a step counter paired with Samsung Health. I don't have the 4 yet but it was in every watch since the Gear from 2011
Thanks for al lof these tips. They are really helpful in increasing battery time. I have one more thing that is bothering me. I dont seem to be able to switch off media controls in the watch. It keeps popping up. As soon as I start streaming music, listen to a book or whatever, the media controls pop up on my phone (with the blue music note at the bottom) and start draining my battery. Do you have any idea if this can be solved and how?
Awesome video. Thank you. It is very helpful. Your tips are are extremely helping me, thanks. I just got my Samsung galaxy watch 4 classic for Christmas and really like it. I am learning stuff about it new, every day. Thank you again.
In newest uodate there is no longer option as two finger shortcut. I stead, you can use tripple home button shortcut to setup a greay scale. All you need is to presetup grey scale in the color correction setting
Hi, will it save battery to turn of bluetooth while sleeping, so the watch doesnt communicate with the phone??? I mean I dont need the watch connected to the phone while i sleep anyway, i dont track snoring
I don't know about new Apple watches but I had Watch 4 which never went beyond one day or maximum 1 and half day. I think this watch too with usual settings will last for one day which is ok I think. Or am I missing something? To which long lasting watches people are comparing this Galaxy Watch 4?
Thanks for great video and lot advice ! I want ask you just one questin if you have a time to answer (because is very important not only for me, for everybody). If I turn "battery saving" to ON, can I receive all the notifications to watch (in vibration of course) or not ? Because I saw in your video when you turn on battery saver, in description get info "inactive all background activity" - is it that mean or not ? And also is it stop measure heart rate every 10 min ? (I ask you this because I have a problem with my pulse or heart rate). Sorry for disturbing you and best regardr and best wishes to you and your family ! THANKS if you answer ! 🏆👍🏆
I have serious doubts about these numbers. For a start you fail to mention background apps close feature, which frequently is the silent battery killer. I don't think you even mentioned watch faces with functions that poll for data regularly, something that uses far more battery than a white face! I always have the latest updates and usually format All the stuff you discribe here, I use and have never acheived more than 2 days even with AOD off I have had Wear watches and the Active 2 since they first came out and currently run a lean S20 (no bloatware_ As soon as I use AOD (most of the time), battery life drops to around 36 hours at best. However, in the interest of fairness, I will format watch (big update this week anyway) and then configure as you suggest and we will see....
Did you give it a go? How did it end up? I'm thinking of buying one but I'd like to have at least 24h of battery life and still be able to monitor my heart rate and other stuff while on AOD
thanks a lot for sharing!! i did most of the settings to change as you suggested.. now i am a bit more curious to know if there's any nice watch face which could save battery life? i just feels like watch faces also takes a lot of battery!! hope to get ur suggestion on watch face! :)
So he's charging it multiple times a day. That's not getting 4 days of battery life. I bought the 42mm version and had everything here mentioned turned off. It still never lasted more than 12 hours before needing a charge. With my watch 3 I would charge it while showering in the morning and have about 40% left 24 hrs later after using it for sleep tracking and after exercising the next morning before I showered. With the 4, it had less than 10% battery left in the morning before exercising after charging it to 100% during dinner the night before, so I had to charge it before exercising. I returned it and kept the 3.
Hi loved your video. Any idea how to turn off media controls off of the watch? I have disabled it from developer options but the watch is still running any media through my watch and it's a massive drain on my battery. There's a few of us on Reddit that have the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated
1 thing I forgot when I received my gw4 is to charge it first before turned it on. My watch shocked me... when its installing and said battery only 5%. Omg...
After the last update there is no auxh option as bedtime. Instead, you can use sleep mode in your phone modes menu. Just don't forgive to turn on sync modes with your watch setting.
Too bad on t mobile the phantom voicemail issue drains the watch. I shelved mine since no update seems to fix it. I get a new VM notification every minute. Wiping the watch only fixes it for about a week before the problem comes back.
Ok, I have reset my Samsung Galaxy S20 and Classic 46mm Gone through all these settings and added the watch face that has NO updates/refresh requirements and clear recent apps function. (both critical configurations missed here!) And then using pretty much as described . Can still never get passed the 2 day or 48 hour mark. Though I admire the presentation and apparent scientific approach, I doubt even more the validity of this video other than standard recommendations and clickbait claims..
I disabled that along with most of these things and couldn't get more than 20 hrs from the 42mm classic. I'm returning it and getting the 46mm, even though I like the smaller size. The watch 4 got less than half the battery life of the 3 if I used everything I had been on the 3.
Nice video. Hopefully this makes it last longer. Just bought my watch and it's only lasting not even a day. I don't use most of these features so Hopefully it helped.

Now I've just finished customizing my Watch 4 with your tips and I'm looking forward to at least 1-2 comfortable days of battery life!
what is your opinion about watch 4 after 1 month?
And without ever using the power saving options of the watch, only some of the tips in this videos :)
If you want to use absolutely everything the watch offers, chances are you'll struggle with the battery.

@@ThaHtwnBelle no mistake, dude, the package brings a charger, just use it.

Do you experience any temporary screen burn when using AOD?
I noticed burn in after just a couple days using my watch, so I returned it and got a new one, but I'm still having the same issue with the new one.
Are you using Bright watch faces? If so with aod it would burn in quite quickly indeed, it is an oled screen after all
@@zehph I'm using the stock Samsung "Simple" watchface with auto brightness.
Thats the wear OS. Rly bad OS for watch. Tysen would be a lot better.
bruh i got this thing for 119.99 where are you buying it from? lol
@@josephthebroseph7421 remember it's about 2yrs old now. Can get the gw4 LTE for $70 on ebay now. Paid more for the Bluetooth version on launch lol
Got one yesterday, I was shocked to see 24% battery by 2pm hopefully these changes will help.
Hi. Did you change the settings? If so did you get better battery?
@@jas350 I turned off different things and noticed a huge difference for example, where Google listens for "hey google" you can turn it off and also the constant heart rate monitoring, and turn off raise to wake and reduce screen brightness. Now I get to the end of the day with about 50% battery left 👍🏻
This was a great video. No extra talks no nothing, directly into detail and excellent explanation. You got a sub from me mate
Nice! Just ordered a 4 classic! Ty for the info. Greetings from the Netherlands!
Dude this is FANTASTIC!!! AS true public service video for GW4 owners!!! You rock sir!!! :-)
I didn't trust the "use it normally, charge it at 5% and just give it some days " advice but I did and it went from 11 to 14 to 18 to 30 hrs in the last week.
then why are you watching these videos?
@@pt5878 To see if I missed something.
It's work by reduce brightness, use it with not more than 50%. And changed in to short vibrate type. AOD and full notification, 11 hours only 45%. Amazing 😁

Have you tried these recently?
I'm curious on how much do I save by turning off the heart rate with newer software etc
Thank you!! I learned so much about my awesome new watch and I'm excited to hopefully see my battery life improve. I look forward to checking out your other videos! Cheers. :)
did it improve?
Thank you. It is the most comprehensive video with the tips for saving battery life on gw4 I have ever seen
Thank-you for creating an excellent video. I just bought the Samsung 4 classic 46mm and this is the perfect video for me.
I'm having a screen burn-in unfortunately is it normal on OLEDS or do I need to change the watch?
WOW! Exemplary efffort. Thank you. Very, very helpful. For those of us with a small attention span, Is it a lot of effort to generate a transcript?
Your video is the best of the best. You explain everything at the right pace. Not too fast. Congratulations and keep it up. I personally use my treadmill everyday. I have my Note using Samsung Health. Also have my 4 and use Bluetooth to sync. I would love too see my step count move along on my watch as I walk. I have to stop and sync with Health . Is there an adjustment or you have to do it as I have been doing it?
Watch faces can show you steps only and/or steps plus time. There's also a step counter paired with Samsung Health. I don't have the 4 yet but it was in every watch since the Gear from 2011
do you can disable bezel for use like a dive chrono or quick time elapse? i mean = rotating the bezel without enter the menu,
Thank you! With this Video I was able to increase my watches battery life by 30% without turning off features that I use.
I think your US watches are different though as a lot of settings - those for bixby for example - don't seem to exist or are very different elsewhere.
Awesome video. Thank you. It is very helpful. Your tips are are extremely helping me, thanks. I just got my Samsung galaxy watch 4 classic for Christmas and really like it. I am learning stuff about it new, every day. Thank you again.
Thanks. Followed a number of your tips. Hopefully this will enhance my battery life.
In newest uodate there is no longer option as two finger shortcut. I stead, you can use tripple home button shortcut to setup a greay scale. All you need is to presetup grey scale in the color correction setting

Hi does the Galaxy watch 4 have a translator from English to Chinese simplified?.

Bro if colour stylish always on display is on 24/7 on galaxy watch 4 44mm what is battery time because i just want this watch for always on display???
I have serious doubts about these numbers.
For a start you fail to mention background apps close feature, which frequently is the silent battery killer. I don't think you even mentioned watch faces with functions that poll for data regularly, something that uses far more battery than a white face!
I always have the latest updates and usually format
All the stuff you discribe here, I use and have never acheived more than 2 days even with AOD off
I have had Wear watches and the Active 2 since they first came out and currently run a lean S20 (no bloatware_
As soon as I use AOD (most of the time), battery life drops to around 36 hours at best.
Great video. So many helpful tips. Just today l was wondering how to turn off the maps navigation on the watch.
So inshort, just take it off and wear your regular watch?

Very useful tips.
Í'm going to optimize my Galaxy Watch4 Classic battery life, with those advises.
Thank's for this great video!😎👍
So he's charging it multiple times a day. That's not getting 4 days of battery life. I bought the 42mm version and had everything here mentioned turned off. It still never lasted more than 12 hours before needing a charge. With my watch 3 I would charge it while showering in the morning and have about 40% left 24 hrs later after using it for sleep tracking and after exercising the next morning before I showered. With the 4, it had less than 10% battery left in the morning before exercising after charging it to 100% during dinner the night before, so I had to charge it before exercising. I returned it and kept the 3.
How do you set notifications to stop T say 11pm and then automatically reenable at 7am on a galaxy watch 4?
Hi loved your video. Any idea how to turn off media controls off of the watch? I have disabled it from developer options but the watch is still running any media through my watch and it's a massive drain on my battery. There's a few of us on Reddit that have the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated
Go to settings -> display -> scroll down and you will find a toggle to "show media controls". Turn it off and done
Just got my watch today, these tips are very handy. Thanks 🙏.
i have done everything you say still getting 20 hours of backup when connected. is there any suggestions?
1 thing I forgot when I received my gw4 is to charge it first before turned it on. My watch shocked me... when its installing and said battery only 5%. Omg...
any clue on why Samsung Pay continuosly pos up, eve after a factory reset?
After the last update there is no auxh option as bedtime. Instead, you can use sleep mode in your phone modes menu. Just don't forgive to turn on sync modes with your watch setting.
Helped me out tremendously with my new galaxy watch 4!!!
Too bad on t mobile the phantom voicemail issue drains the watch. I shelved mine since no update seems to fix it. I get a new VM notification every minute.
Wiping the watch only fixes it for about a week before the problem comes back.
Thank you for the video. Any ideas on how to use a VoIP client on the watch 4? Google Voice/skype doesn't work...
Ok, I have reset my Samsung Galaxy S20 and Classic 46mm
Gone through all these settings and added the watch face that has NO updates/refresh requirements and clear recent apps function. (both critical configurations missed here!)
And then using pretty much as described .
Can still never get passed the 2 day or 48 hour mark.
Though I admire the presentation and apparent scientific approach, I doubt even more the validity of this video other than standard recommendations and clickbait claims..
Outstanding video... Thank you for taking the time to make it!

Cool, disabled few more things. I think that auto detect workout is gonna be the biggest saver for my 42mm classic 😁
I can get almost full 2 days with ~15h always on on 20/35% brightness (depends if I'm inside or outside)
I disabled that along with most of these things and couldn't get more than 20 hrs from the 42mm classic. I'm returning it and getting the 46mm, even though I like the smaller size. The watch 4 got less than half the battery life of the 3 if I used everything I had been on the 3.
