Awesome car! Would love a follow up whenever you do something with the grill! Also, what kind of mpg do you get? I have a tune on my 07 fxt. Stock other than that and I’m only getting 19 city and highway isn’t much better
Thank you! I’m planning on ordering some new mesh for the grille soon so I can fix it then I should have an update for the grille in the next few weeks for sure 🤙 I’ve been meaning to check my mpg but I think it’s around the same as you. I’m going to set a reminder to check it this week
I am trying not to get up to $10,000 on my Forester. My 04 Forester I spent $3,000 on it last year to replace the 07 Forester X Sports model that I rolled over. I been driving since 97 and never spent over $5,000 on a car. The 04 Forester I made a heavy front reciver for my 12,000 pound winch. 2 inch lift with bigger tires. Dual range manual trans that I made my own shifter for high and low range. Biggest battery that I could fit group size 24 F, and custom made 2 gauge battery cables so engine cranks over much faster Made a nice skid plate out of a 1/8 aluminum sign that I got 2 skid plates out of and stacked and bolted them together so now it's 1/4 inch. I have a lot more planed for it. I try to fix up my cars really good without spending a whole lot of money. I believe in the saying, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I believe in putting my eggs multiple blankets, because I have a lot of other projects. Some videos are on my that I learned to do to the Subarus like my wheel bearing mod, and the 4 way tire inflation and deflation system that made. I will have to make videos to explain those 2 things. My channel is called Garagelife 68 for a reason. People might like their Saltlife and like the beach, but I don't like the beach. I like making and working on stuff. Coming up with new ideas, camping, and off roading. That's about all the stuff that I can do in Florida. Without the stuff that I do, I am living in a hot, humid, mosquito infested jungle. That's why most Floridians stay in the AC all the time lol.
That’s fair, a lot of the stuff I’ve done was just mostly for fun with some other functional mods mixed in there. I have some plans for mods in the near future though that will support the drive ability and performance even more. I have no plans to sell this car so I’m just going to keep modifying haha. I actually thought about getting a second forester to lift but haven’t seriously considered it yet. That’s cool you make a lot of custom things
@@JamesGilliam Off roading is a good thing to get into. I really wanted to buy a powered parachute or paraglider, and learn to fly. I had the chance to buy a Paraplane powered parachute with car dolly that the guy modified to carry it all for $2,000, but I think that he lowered the price to $1,500. It was like a 1989 model. The parachute still looked ok. I wish that I bought it, but instead I got into off roading
@@JamesGilliam Glad to see that your Forester is a manual trans. When I see Forester XT'S with a auto trans it's a big let down. All my American cars was auto trans. All my Japanese cars have been manual. 4 Honda Accords 1 Honda CR-V, and 2 Foresters. It was not that easy to find those 7 cars with manuals over the years.
@@garagelife684 I for sure wanna try out paragliding at some point and I feel that for sure. It took me months to finally get a manual xt but I wouldn’t settle for auto so it’s worth the wait.
@@JamesGilliam Enjoy them while they last, because electric cars won't even need a trans. I have a 75 Lincoln Continental Town Car. 79 was the last year for the full size Ford products, especially the Mark's and Continentals. Everything that's good has to come to an end. I don't think that Subaru can make their eyesight work with manuals, but I think that they will continue making the STI and WRX with manuals.

Just moved out of that city, pretty sure I saw this beast before I left.
That’s very possible

Hey I got an 06 forester and I want to make the engine better what should I do
Hey James, just to be clear this is the ej255 the car came stock with right? No sti swap?
correct
@@JamesGilliam okay 👌and what first mods do you recommend? I got the exact same car. Stock.mods to keep it running healthy but also more hp.
@@callmepoison2690 you looking for power mods?

Do your self a favour and get a set of WRX seats. Best internal mod for sure. That and a underfloor sub haha. For the $200 it’s a game changer.
Been thinking about new seats forever and a sub haha, was thinking about grabbing some sti seats but haven’t seriously looked yet
What type of material did u use on the DIY Grill
Probably ordering new mesh this week from customcargrills.com but we’ll see. It’s a plastic mesh that’s on there now
Could these parts fit my 01 Forester?
Depends, some of them may fit though. Are you talking about the engine or mainly cosmetic mods?
