      Dr Levi Harrison For how long/when should you actually do some of these exercises? You pointed it out with some but left it out with others. I'm currently doing the ones you said with timestamps but the ones that you haven't pointed out I do after every game. This makes my hands very tired though....

    - full fist
    - open your hand wide
    - table top fist
    - claw fist
    - half fist
    - full fist
    - Stretch each finger back
    - blocking exercises especially for thumb
    - pull back, pull forward (2x), across palm, piano, reverse piano, full fist, open fist
    - hands wide, open - close, open - close
    - stretch arm out with: wrist down, wrist up, around the world, back around the world, elbow in, elbow out
    - shake out your hands and fingers for 1 minute every 2 -3 hours
    Inertial exercises: at least every 2-3 hours for a few minutes
    - arm straight out, elbows straight: bring hand straight up like palm is against the wall
    - take other hand and bring fingers back (30 secs)
    - then hold your palm and bring your hand back (30 secs)

    - massage your hand and fingers

ESPECIALLY the warm water. trust me it works. get some hot water and just stretch your wrist and hand in it. it relieves all the pain and stress instantly, your hands will feel amazing. if you feel any symptoms of wrist/hand pains take care of it ASAP. you dont want to not be able to game due to pain and stiffness and be stuck in a brace its not fun but im happy to be back.

    As a gamer I have to say thank you for these tips. a few years ago I also had an accident at work where I cut my hand severely, this has helped a lot with the stiffness I get around my index finger. But, besides hand and wrist exercises what are things I should do for extensive sitting? I've been around other youtube channels and practiced other methods like certain yoga poses during my gaming breaks, but since you are a medical professional I thought I'd ask if you have any proper techniques to keep myself limber.

    • @Drleviharrison
      @Drleviharrison  9 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      Hi Shey,
      Aside from these stretches and exercises, we recently shot another video about how to stay limber and fit in an office/long term sitting environment. It is important to take frequent, 5 minute breaks every hour to simply stand, walk around or just move your limbs. Be sure to be well hydrated during any gaming session also. Good luck and stay tuned for that other video!

  • @User5e72
    @User5e72 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I still use these exercises every day. When it comes to your wrist you can only maintain its state, not improve it. Many esport players have said they constantly experience wrist pain in daily life, not just in professional environments (G2-Pengu, Beaulo, Asmongold) and wish they had taken the steps earlier to help their longevity and quality of life in gaming. This can benefit all types of gamers and pc users, and only takes a small bit of time before playing. Hopefully this comment helps put some perspective and at the end of the day, we want to be here for both a good time and a long time!

I'm hoping to make it to a competitive level where I can perhaps even make a living at it so not just being silly I hope. Anyway, I'll try to cut back on it a bit but Im sure you can imagine how nice it feels to just stretch my fingers out haha XP Awesome stuff! Thanks again, Doc

    how could anyone be rude to this guy. He is offering free, valuable advice purely for our best interest. The man is a doctor, and this isn't just an opinion, he has the knowledge and experience to back this all up. On top of all of that, he is completely non-judgmental and non-bias. He doesn't look like a gamer to me, but that's just my thought, and nor does it matter, but with that in mind he still clearly has respect and appreciation for something he may or may not understand which is the world of gaming and e-sports. If I ever had the pleasure of meeting this fantastic doctor in person, the only thing I could do is genuinely thank him. Years and years of high level starcraft have ruined my wrists, but now that im stretching and playing safely, im actually able to do long sessions again when I have time to.
    TL;DR - Thank you so much Doc. You are a saint.
