    Amex is no longer worth the effort unless you are very wealthy. If you are wealthy, you do not care about the bonuses anyway, just the perks

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I mean at least you can still get all the welcome offers up each of the families ladders I think.

    Active duty Marine here
    I spent 4 years overseas and American Express really helped me out during my travels. However, it was common when going to a restaurant that Amex wasn’t accepted. I currently have: 4 platinums, 1 gold, 1 green, 2 Hilton aspire, 2 Marriott bonvoy, and 2 delta reserve.
    I think it’s a fair trade. Temporary benefits in order for me to temporarily hate my life then eventually get divorced based on statistics 📉 hopefully I don’t end up getting divorce tho🙏
    Also shout out to Anthony venture for always keeping us educated 💯

    Check the Sailors and Soldiers Civil Relief Act. Amex ain't waiving fees out of the goodness of their heart or patriotism. We don't pay military members jack! Most don't come from wealthy families, a lot weren't highly financially literate and banks were taking advantage of them with fees, interest, etc. Congress put a stop to it (probably over corrected) but I ain't complaining.

    Family Language is sooo important and is somewhat unique to American Express- I feel like there's probably so many people out there who has no clue what that even means, and probably ends up missing out on multiple bonuses because of it. Luckily, I got my Gold Offer before the Plat, but unfortunately due to the new Family Language, I can't get the offer on the Green anymore :( Great video as always Anthony!

      Chase and Citi have similar kinds of card family restrictions, but it is always time based like 24 months or 48 months. For example, did you know that the Citi Rewards+ is in the same group with the Citi Premier, so you have to wait I believe 48 months to be eligible for the Rewards+ SUB after getting the Premier SUB.

    Great video Anthony. It also seems AMEX is using the family language in conjunction with PUJ to push people into upgrades. Say you have been using the no AF Hilton Honors card off and on for a while. You decide you are going to go for the Surpass 155k offer, but oops you get the pop up jail window. Now you go back to your main account screen and see a 50k offer to upgrade your Hilton Honors to a Hilton Surpass.

    I just got my first amex cc a little over a month ago . The delta gold. I'm looking at getting the Hilton surpass card because I have a trip coming up at the end of April. The elevated offer ends april 17th.But I don't want to potentially lose out on being able to get the points on the Hilton honors. Would you roll the dice and get the surpass first while the offer is hi . Then, wait the extra month to get the Hilton honors ? The 90-day 2 card rule would be over then.

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmmm in this case it’s tough, since they could announce the family language any day and then if you get the Surpass, you’d be out the no annual fee Hilton card offer.
      So I’d probably just do it early, but go for the no annual fee so at least you’ll for sure be able to get the Surpass later, even if you have to wait for another elevated offer. 90 days shouldn’t matter too too much, but use your discretion.

    So I am one of those people who got Platnium card first.
    But what If I am getting a mail from them with my name, apply and get 60K .
    I am not applying rn, but, If I am not gonna get it than why give me offer ?

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So that MAY be the only way to get around it, but still make sure there’s no pop up window.
      Mailers tend to bypass a lot, but it’s not 100% or even 80%. So be careful, but could work.
      Thanks Muhammad!

    I wonder how many military guys got a no annual fee platinum and locked themselves out of future bonuses

      Worth it, honestly. I was only in for 5 years, but I flew commercial a lot for different schools.

      @AnthonyVenture  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah as Scarling said, that’s very valuable honestly to save $695 each year. For Amex only, I’d probably take that every time. Chase probably not though.
      Good point though, very possible Adiscrete, and thanks Scarling!

      The points are per account...not per card...so as long as you have an MR earning card you won't lose them

      @Adiscretefirm 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You could open an Amex Everyday and stash them in a no fee card

    • @JazzyMarineVet

      @@Adiscretefirm My sentiments exactly. No annual fee(NAF) card that also earns a handfull of MR points

    • @AnthonyVenture
      @AnthonyVenture  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep 100% what Adiscrete said, or the BBP. Both are great options, but I think the Amex Everyday may be a better choice if you’ve no grocery card at the moment.
      But just a good anchor for your points overall with $0 annual fee.
      Thanks everyone!!

    I'm well over 5/24 and still don't give a damn all my cards offer the same perks and the Amex Platinum is the king of travel cards so I'm not missing much proud of my 9 Amex cards! I also finally got a US Bank card, the Altitude GO solid rewards with no FTF! Excellent information as always VENTURE!

      100%, plus I’ve helped folks get a lot of loans of the past year and really all the banks care about at least right now during high rates, is a score above 680, (crazy enough) and income to support the mortgage.
      They don’t really care about anything else, and this is between a lot of banks. So yeah I guess it could hurt, but all the lenders I talk to don’t care haha.
