One of my favourites by Joni. Every person ever hitchhiking would know what "prisoner of the white lines of the freeway" means... You are locked inside a moving car, and you are in the faith of the driver and his intentions. I some times pick up hitchhikers, I do my best not to make them feel a prisoner in my car, but rather a welcome and respected guest. This song is a road movie inside my mind.
Aw, an incredible song from Joni’s greatest album. Her solo flight in a car. Coyote sounds like the windows are rolled down and the words are rushing by. And, the album cover is one of the greatest. Joni is a GOAT.
@@KellyDaleAnderson Hello! I have loved her music since I was 11 years old. Thank you for reaching out, it makes me feel special to hear from you. I hope you have found the happiness within! My best to you!
I remember the first time I listened to a song by Joni. I was about 16 years old, it was late, and the TV was broadcasting the concert 'Shadows and Light.' I listened to 'In France They Kiss on Main Street,' absentmindedly, almost without paying attention. But then I went to bed. However, something about that song struck me. A few days later, in a music magazine, I read an enthusiastic review of 'Wild Things Run Fast' and decided to buy the album blindly. I put it on the turntable: 'Chinese Café' started playing, and I was blown away by her voice, the way she played the piano, everything. I wore out that record, and within 3 or 4 years, I bought her entire discography. There’s no one like Joni, she's unique.
Such a national treasure.. Her music, her intellect, her choice of musicians, her ability to translate the deepest human experiences into amazing music. Joni's music has been a constant source of joy in my life for all of my life.... love to you Joni!
My God, I'm still busy enjoying all those 96 Songs of Archives Vol. 3 and soon there will be more of her great period? Dear Joni please don't tell us it was just a false alarm... No, she won't because Joni knows and feels what her audience knows and feels. Joni you are GOAT. Love to you ❤
One of my favorites from my juvenile years. Tom and I would chuckle at "he picks up my scent on his fingers..." as we laid in our dorm beds listening to her, worshipping her voice, her talent, and her beauty.
Really interesting to hear this early version and to note the lyrical tweaks that were subsequently made. The audio quality is very nice. Thanks for sharing! ♥
I have loved each and every Archive release, but this was the one I wanted most. Thank you Joni for sharing your Archives with us….we love you always ❤
Agreed , I also eagerly await the following period, amazing work with Laundau, Colliauta, Klein and Ferrante. Joni just kept evolving but if I had to pick one decade of time 72-82 with orchestral arrangements on the side.
Just her singing the melody with its very unusual time feel, floating above the very different rhythm of her guitar playing, is an amazing feat in itself.
"We saw a Farmhouse burning down... We rolled pass that tragedy till we came to some roadhouse lights and a local band was playing, locals were up and shaking and kicking......" I can see the scene from hopefully "The Joni" Movie they are so long and personally torturing me in making! Love you, My Sweet, Joni!
Fascinating to see the beginnings of the lyrics of Coyote and how it changed to become a brilliant song. She changes the lyrics until they are perfect. She adds Jaco’s bass, Larry Carlton’s guitar, Bobby’Hall’s percussion and it just sails.
Looking forward to this Archive release. I do hope there is a volume of live recordings from her cut-short 1976 tour. It was probably the height of her popularity and it deserves a quality packaging.
@@TomRagoOfficial tbh I don't know how she thought up all her tunings. A higher musical intellect I guess. Normally they allow her left hand to play reasonably simple shapes. Whereas her right hand playing is just great.
Greetings from Dallas, Texas! Joni... You know I still love you. Call me! I am waiting! (Don't freak out, it's a joke.) But seriously, folks... Joni, I am forever intrigued by alternate tunings. And you are a vast resource of inexhaustible gems to be found just under the surface. Godspeed.
Running away from Canada to join the 🇺🇸 Circus? Yea, no kidding! Except now 🇨🇦 is as much or more of a circus 🎪 🤡 🤡 to the left of me 🃏 to the right…stuck in the middle with you! ❤😂😅

Loved Joni since I first heard her about 1971...met her face to face 1975...never stopped loving her music and art since.
Wow, I was born on September 1975!

This is from Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue.
Victim or victor? I used to hear victim but now I’m hearing Victor! 🎉🥳🎊
thats just a big fng wow.
I’m sure a young Taylor listened a lot to Joni
If Joni Mitchell was a man no one would think about Bob Dylan or the Beatles
It was different and it was special and in many ways (not all) it was better then.

Sam Shepard….
I don’t understand melody of this song. She plays some accords which are not matched with what she sings. Very strange
In what parts? I feel like she's almost relying on those changes in the guitar to create a sense of movement, it feels like driving on a highway
