Terry, I appreciate your advice. The Jeep boot and shift knob and plate are now installed. One less heat source for the cab. I obtained the boot from Rock Auto and after a bit of modification it works very well.
I MADE A MISTAKE WHEN I CUT THE SHIFTER BOOT. CUT OFF ONLY THE VERY TOP FLAP NOT AT THE 2ND ONE LIKE I DID. THAT WILL ALLOW MORE SHIFTER THROW AND IT'LL BE EASIER TO GET IT IN LOW.
@@terryhatfieldmin ah ok, looks great. As for the boot. I just got it and we really don’t ride in the heat, but as I ride, if I think I’ll need it, I know where to look. Tks again.

Bought the shifter in the more recent link. Quick service. Found the hole in boot was racetrack shape .680x.525”. Shifter rod is .360”. Did you find this and how did you close the gap? Keep up great videos!😀
Thoughts Terry on being able to put a hurst T shift handle on the shifter? I know they traditionally thread on, but I was wondering what you thought on that idea of something working. Thanks
Don't see why not. Obviously will take some adapting. If you could cut off the tang and thread the shaft to match the shifter knob it would be perfect but not sure how those shaft diameters match up.
Terry, if you add the boot to hopefully reduce heat and dust out of the console, what do you do to allow water to drain from th ejeep boot when washing inside talon? tia

Terry, did you have any issues getting the console cover back on? Mine seems that it needs to do forward more. Tried taking off the trim around the dash but can’t seem to get them to fit in order to get push pins in. Any suggestions?
I did not have any issues getting the console back on. Are you sure the front tab on the console is in the correct place? I've not heard of anyone having issues.
@@terryhatfieldmin thanks for the quick reply, really like your videos and I also purchased the heat kit. My front end of my console looks different than yours. I have a 2021 1000-x. @@terryhatfieldmin mine does have the same front tab on the console cover and it appears that it goes in correctly but it needs to slide forward another 1/4-3/8 of an inch to line up the holes on the sides for the push pins. Going to try putting on the stock shift gate and see if that works.
@@stevebarthel1 I don't understand a difference in the console. They are the same part number for all years. Also have no experience with the PBR gate but I wouldn't think it would be thick enough to cause a fitment problem.

Correct. It works the way I did it but you'll have a little bit more room if you only cut the top fold off the boot.
Great job Terry!

Thanks Overton! It's going to be hot a crazy humid this weekend so it'll get the test right away.
How did the insulation around the cup holders work out. do you think you could go with a thicker than 80mil insulation or would it not fit?
Worked well. Should be plenty of room for that insulation.
Thanks

Is it necessary to have the opening tight on the shifter rod?
I noticed that as well, but think it's better to have a bit of an opening so water can drain when I spray it out.
