Miele honestly should pay you a hefty sum for making this! They make it so damn complicated and don't present any clean/concise explanation of differences. And then the models and nomenclature are totally different for different countries/regions. You'd think they could come up with a way to rationalize everything.

Ugh no kidding. I completely understand that they are trying to hit as many price points as possible, but when it takes hours to research what model you need, you need a better system to explain it all. It’s best to think of them by their primary tasks in what you need a vacuum for. Calima: 80%+ Hard floors. Alize: 80%+ hard floors with upgraded canister level features and something that you can upgrade later to carpet. Kona: basic carpet. Soft Carpet: higher pile carpets. Cat and Dog: dog and cat clean up with more odor control. Homecare: you like the color red and longer warranties. Marin: fancy power brush and upgrade canister level features. Brilliant: really fancy power brush and some lights. Homecare+: longer warranty, really fancy power brush, and lots of tools.
The homecare primarily exists from my understanding as a peace offering to the Miele dealers after Miele started selling in big box stores. Homecare is a dealer exclusive and comes with longer warranties as mentioned.

Totally agree. I actually used the “Compare” tool on Miele’s website and the two I were considering showed no differences except for their color, yet the one was $100 more. Why? 🤷🏼‍♀️ The good thing about Miele is they do have a great dealer network so when you walk in a store you’re dealing with someone who will be knowledgeable and have an answer for you but it’s so old school. People nowadays just want to do their research online, click “buy” and have it delivered to their doorstep.

You forgot to mention one really, really useful feature that you inly get with the Alize: a SpotLight handle! I love this feature as it illuminates dark corners even when you are just using the hose without the extension wand. This special handle uses 3 batteries, and the light turns off a few minutes after you switch it on - so it is only used when needed. This SpotLight handle can be bought as an optional extra for any Miele suction-only canister that does not use an electrified hose. It's like having an on-board LED flashlight while you are cleaning!

I have a Complete C3 "Special Edition" which is basically the Calima without the HEPA filter (plug and play retrofit, just gotta buy it...) and with the filter change indicator and the All Teq brush/turbo carpet brush combo. It's also a lovely deep forest green color.
Anyways, I've had it for 5 years now, using it literally every single day, some times multiple times a day, and it is still going strong. I am extremely pleased with it.
I've only had two things fail on it. First is the handle, it bears all the stress of moving the wand and head around, banging in to chairs and baseboards. It cracked about 3 years in. Bought the OEM replacement for $26. not bad. Second is the strain relief on the power cord. The auto retract system is pretty violent on it. The conductors are fine, insulation still in place, but the plug is currently electrical taped to the cord. Don't tell OSHA.
BTW my house is all hard floors with one small (6'x8') area rug and an entrance rug (2'x4') so the turbo air brush is more than enough for weekly deep cleans of the rugs and the AllTeq brush gets the job done on a daily basis.

This was a big help. Wish i had it before i bought my new C3 Homecare -- which i like --- but brush head options, features and benefits were not apparent at time of purchase. I have the Marin and it really is one quiet machine with great build quality and slick styling. I've had Mieles for many years of my considerably long life and they are the only vacuums that sell instantly and at top dollar when it comes time to say goodbye to them. Praise aside, my cordless machines see the most regular use because the are sooo easy and because the debris is dumped with every cleaning, they never smell. Even the Miele, with is fabulous charcoal filter will still smell if it sits around with a bag full of pet hair.

Hey! Just wanted to add some things. The Calima and Alize would also need an electric hose to upgrade to power nozzles. Warranty is also different between the models. Of the models listed above the homecares and the brilliant would carry the 10 year main body and motor warranty with 5 years on the other components. While the other machines have 7 years on the main body and motors with 1 year on the other components.

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks, good points on most of these, I think I did mention the electric hose for the Calima and Alize at around 1:40 , or was there something else they need, besides the "electric tube" So Im guessing its an electric tube and electric hose? I just purchased a SEBO Airbelt D4 Premium and was wondering how it compares to the Miele Marin or Brilliant with the 236 power head. I picked the SEBO over the Miele based on a few differences. SEBO D4 has a much long power cord at 40 feet, you can change out the roller brush with no tools and it seems if it needed repairs it would be less expensive and less likely to need a repair. Would love love love to see a comparison of these two German vacuum manufactures canister models.

  • @OrdinarilyStrange

Great video! As far as canister vacuums go, I've never used a better vacuum than my Miele. I have the Marin. I also like that it's bagged. I prefer bagged vacuums because they're less messy to empty and theres no filters to wash. Aside from replacing the bag, there's a HEPA and premotor filter to replace on occasion. The bags come with new premotor filters. They also come with new Airclean filters. However, I prefer to use a HEPA filter. Even though they are very expensive vacuums, I think its worth it.

It’s worth saying that the Alize is “your save money now, upgrade later as needed” model. You get all the fancy features of the Marin canister like the auto power adjustment and motor overheat sensor, but save nearly 400 dollars in the process. For me, when I bought my Alize, I had primarily hard floors and one floor of carpet. I got a turbo brush for my small amount of carpet and went on my way. I just bought a home with a lot more carpet, and went to eBay and found some great deals are to be had on some lightly used Miele items. I purchased the electric wand new as no used one was on offer, but got the electric hose and SEB 228 power head (the mid range electric power brush) all total for around 250 dollars. While the hose and power head were used, you could have fooled me if you told me they were brand new. All and all, around 200+ dollars saved compared to buying all new.

You can buy the attachments separately, but you cannot use a power head on a non powerhead canister body. I highly recommend you buy Miele vacuums locally so you get better service, plus you can test drive all of the models. I would only pick a full sized C3/S8 model.

Buyer beware! I just got off the phone with Miele and I was told that there are no replacement Soft Carpet heads like the one shown here when it breaks. They'll replace the SC version that you buy specifically for high end rugs and soft carpets use with a standard one that can't be used with them, the manual clearly states that the replacement Electro head unit will destroy oriental rugs and soft carpets. None of their other heads are compatible with oriental rugs and soft carpets so you'll end up with a boat anchor if you bought this model, how stupid is that Miele?

Can someone just tell me which one to get? My needs are:
I have a house with both hard floors and carpet. I have a long hair Persian cat that has hair everywhere. The hair is on upholstery, chairs, floors, carpets, rugs, on top of furniture and electronics and crevices like the space next to my refrigerator.
We also have normal issues like hair on the bathroom floor and carpet steps that need vacuuming.
I would appreciate anyone who knows which one to get. Remember have all types of floors in my house and cat hair everywhere.
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE FOUND IN WEEKS OF SEARCHING.
I just am concerned that no one vacuum can meet all my needs. Perhaps there is a parts option that can be included in the vacuum suggestion.
