    Future reference for an older rig like this...cut an access hole over the rear shock towers to gain access to the upper shock mount (paint cut edge and install a rubber grommet), sell that used ACH res and pump on ebay for $400, sell the ride height sensors for $100 a piece, your ACH globes are probably rusted beyond resale...you're welcome

    Tyler: I really enjoy watching your videos. I started watching them and your youtube channel became my favorite because you talked more about cars that were undervalued and good deals. I've learned a lot about buying used cars from watching your channel and the risks associated. I really like when you buy the older cars and explain why they were so cool and unique for their time. These project videos are fun, but you have your own likeableness compared to dug or wrench everyday.

    best video from the channel in a while. good editing, fun facts were interesting, and a good amount of actual work in the video!! i also enjoy offroaders so good to see this truck coming along nicely. OME suspensions are great, especially so for these landcruisers. Cool dog too! take him on adventures when you go offroading

  • @335i101
    @335i101 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to measure your front clearance from the center of the wheel to the ground and make sure they match. If they don’t, lower to the ground and adjust the torsion bars...then lift up again and measure.
    This needs to be done when the truck is on the lift.
    Once the torsion bars are set, get an alignment. I have the same truck and put the same lift on it last year.

  • @Red_Hammer

    Believe or not Tyler the Toyota/Lexus instructions tells you to cut the boot floor out to make 2x flaps to access the fixing at the top of the shock. It even includes templates to cut the holes and guidelines on welding the patches back after.

    Love the build! I really want to replace the minivan with one of these but and I'm having a hard time with the fuel mileage. Some wheel spacers would look nice and why are you concerned about the sway bars? Real off-roaders don't have sway bars :-) another thing that helps the ride is tire pressure. Just because the tire says 60PSI doesn't mean you need more than 40 PSI for that rig and less than half of that when off road

    6:35 "No, I don't need that kind of liability going on in the shop" Mr Wizard sir, that horse has bolted. Hoovie is in the workshop so you already have the biggest liability. =D

    It would be interesting to know the results of an engine compression test done on this beauty with such high milage, any plans on doing one?

    I need to do this to my 4Runner, remove the XREAS, swap in some lift shocks and springs. I'm jealous of that midwest clean though. You wouldn't believe what a rusty, broken bolt, p.i.t.a. a suspension swap is here in New England.
