Glad you had a good vacation there! We all had the rock bottoms, like i said on Bat Countrys channel as a comment, when i was thrown into jail and had to go cold from alcohol, heroin and valium, that was a hard impact on rock bottom. And even there, i wasn't able to put down the shovel. Lost love, friends, family, homes, money and many other things. Still, there's always a way for recovery, always taking the next step. Sometimes you can only take responsibility, put the pieces back together and try to move on.
It's hard do deal with all the problems and remain sober, but you can do it. It's not just "getting your shit together", because with alcoholism, you face one of the worst demons. Every time you fight it and you get the good times, like you have with the family, it's a serious achievement.
Congratulations for reaching 5 months sober!

@jackwarren5883 thanks for watching! And thanks for the comment! Yeah man. Alcohol and drugs take everything away from us and then some. And just when you think they can't take away anything more... well, they do.
I'm really excited for this next chapter of my life and while I am still clearing the wreckage of the past and putting the pieces back together, the puzzle is looking more and more complete every day. Thanks for your words of encouragement. ODAAT!.

This is good insight by you. I've had a few rock bottoms in the past and several relapses since those. Someone asked me before a meeting started yesterday what brought me back and I told him that I drank everyday for 3 months on that relapse and didn't enjoy it. I wasn't happy. I wasn't having fun. I was showing up to work still drunk a lot of the time. Drinking on my lunch break to cure the hangover that had begun to set in. I was just sick of living like that. Then I got sober for 10 or 11 days and went back out and spent 4 days straight drinking cheap vodka and beer. The feeling of depression, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, sweats that first day not drinking, laying in bed I never want to feel again. Even though I've gone through that and worse after binges like that. That's enough of a bottom for me. The fucked up thing is that I had one of the best days I've had in a while today. And I wanted to go get a cheap bottle of vodka, knowing what it would bring about and that it wouldn't just be one day of drinking. So I went to a meeting instead.
Also I took like the Bat Country channel. That's actually how I found your channel when he mentioned it. Anyway, 6 days sober today and the path to sobriety continues.

@wild_idaho4666 congrats on 6 days sober!!!! It's funny how the good times can be just as dangerous to our sobriety than the bad times. The thought always creeps in that we should have a drink to celebrate. Even though we know full wellbwhere that train ends.
Yeah I love Bat country's channel. He's a good dude.
      Thanks for watching! ODAAT!

Good to see you back, Ron. Glad you had a good sober vacation. I've been going through some of the "What Ifs" myself lately. And it has led to some depression. I think this last relapse might not have been "rock bottom" but it was bad enough for me to quit diggin'.

@ShadesOClarity just as long as you quit digging, that's the important part. The what ifs are a morale killer. They take up way too much space in my mind sometimes. But talking about it, especially with another alcoholic really helps me get past them. Thanks for watching!
