    Apparently the first way you get dopamine at the start of your day is how you crave it for the rest of the day. So staying off your phone first thing really is key to having a better day! Better to start the day with a walk or bike ride or simply being present with one’s family/partner during breakfast

      This explains why I crave coffee all day on the days I start with coffee (instead of waiting an hour which is recommended but has it’s risks 😬).

    Stopping negative self-talk is critical. One of the most powerful lessons in my life was when a friend said about what I was saying about myself "Please stop talking about my friend like that." This motivated me to silence the negative internal dialogue and completely changed my life for the better.

    • @RiDankulous

    Always great food for thought! I've cut out diet coke (used to be addicted to it) and I just drink water/sparkling water now and 1 coffee in the morning. Like you, I've cut down on eating processed food and junk food (can't say I've cut them out 100% but close enough). Habits that are helping me are having a list of dailies: Read, exercise 60 minutes, walk outside 2-3X, play the piano, clean something, do a task, connect with someone (not necessarily in that order). I'm newly retired so my schedule is my own and I love it. The dailies keep me from watching too much TH-cam which seems to be my new addiction. I love learning (former teacher) so TH-cam and podcasts have become a bit too prevalent in my life...goal is to downsize them! Thanks for your videos!

    I need to stop using my phone as I wake up.
    I cut the negative comments to myself. And replace it with "I'm enough but if you want, you can improve... By..."
    This really helps me, instead of being so hard on me, I get the option to be or to improve.
    Great vid!

    This is not so much an unhealthy habit that I don't do, but a healthy habit that I do. When I recognise that I'm avoiding something because I'm scared of it, I now confront that fear and deal with it, growing my comfort zone and reducing the amount of things that cause me fear. I'm now a much happier and more confident person in my late 40s than when I was say in my 20s when I recognised that this was potentially a good thing to do, however painful :D

    • @RiDankulous

      This has crossed my mind, and thanks for the reminder. I must call my professional references who are at least 10 years in the past, unfortunately. I always think the worst. It's not appropriate to do so, not healthy for a mature adult and I will jump on it.

    Sounds silly but it worked for me and friends.... I stopped calling it "going to the gym" or "work out" but instead named it "producing happy hormons" 🥳 The more effort I put into a happy hormons production session the better I feel afterwards.

    • @RiDankulous
      @RiDankulous ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great motivation technique! One of the primary reasons for me to exercise is to improve mood, and it works but is very easy to let the habit slide.

    Some of these are way too into the optimization of “hustle culture”. It’s ok to listen to music. It’s ok to relax and watch a show. Just make sure you accomplish the things you want to before you sit down and scroll through Netflix or watch a show. You need to allow your brain some time to relax and shut off or you’re going to burn out. You don’t need to be thinking about what business to start at 9pm if you’ve also been working on your job/business all day and have already put some thought into it. Slow down.

    • @GabeBult
      @GabeBult  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For sure it’s ok to enjoy things I was more talking about when you are trying to change your life and get distracted by all this stuff that really adds nothing to your life

    • @myplatinumlife
      @myplatinumlife ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Chris.......... my response said that if you worked on it during the day than you should be able to take a break without feeling guilty about it. You don’t always need to be “plugged in”. The piece about not listening to music is one that sticks out. Music can lift your mood and help make you more productive if you really want to break it down. There’s a middle ground between hustle culture and sitting on your couch all day. Even, Gary Vee, who was the king of hustle culture has since backed off of it. It’s not sustainable

    I've noticed when cutting down all excess sugar like juices, flavored yogurt, barbecue sauces I really start to taste things. If I now drink juice I feel it's dessert because it's so sweet. Don't get me wrong, I still eat cakes, chocolate but I don't need it that much since I'm not addicted to sugar.

    The part about comparing your others now to your now. It makes perfect sense and is something that's so blatant but also something we're blind to. I'm trying to do so much and be further along with my ideas and the reason I'm not as far along as others is because I've not put the time and effort in like they have. Keep up the fantastic work dude.

I pick shows that are deep and inspiring. 3 more years before turning 40 years old, we should definitely cut down junk food for health reasons. I still check my phone early in the morning to see the time obviously haha and to check the weather forecast coz i walk 30-40 mins to work.

    Easy one! The first cut away was TV and TV-shows. But I look at TH-cam instead! The positive thing with TH-cam is that it's easier to stop looking at vids when you want to! And it's your choice what/who to look at! Not TV-show where someone have decided what they want to throw in your throat!

    I think, yesterday just re-affirmed why, I made that rule no checking device in the morning, answering e-mails or watching TH-cam until workout and language lessons are done. I did not listen to myself yesterday and everything was out of whack because of one different thing. Also, I had to cut out TV in the past for the sake of my studies and thought about doing it again but, I enjoy a couple hours here and there 3-4 hours a week but that is it. Music, I only listen to while working out, taking a break, or meditating in some cases. And junk food, I definitely cut back on and or eat it slowly. I am more accustomed to eating dark chocolate because it is not as sweet. Over a year ago, I didn't really like dark chocolate but was hopping with time my body would get used to eating it which my body has.

    I have cut out eating at convenience stores by 99%. When I get gas I go to Costco or Sam's club when I can. When I go elsewhere, I do not let myself go inside! If I want their food, I buy it at the grocery store and eat it at home. I just have to be strict with myself to avoid their marked up prices.

    Hey Gabe, I looked this up but couldn’t get a clear answer: If people comment on your *old* videos, does that help the channel in any way? It looks like it can slightly affect algorithms but I’m not sure when it comes to older posted videos.

    Just because something doesn't generate revenue doesn't mean it's bad for you. There is merit to doing things to unwind just because you like them. Watch TV. Listen to music. Take care of your responsibilities, but not everything has to be about the GRIND.

    I listen to audiobooks or catch up on calls when I go for my daily walk. Recently, I started only listening to podcasts, watching TH-cam, and podcasts during cardio at the gym. It makes it go by quick and more enjoyable. I need to get disciplined with not going on FB and IG. I do have time limits on them but it would be good to only check once or twice weekly. Always feel that I’ll miss something important. Ex. Yesterday I went on FB and saw my daughters friend had a brain tumor removed. I was able to know and reach out to her and offer help with her daughter. This made me question a reasonable amount of times per week to go on so I don’t miss major events (good and bad). Any ideas?

    Being unreachable for the first few hours of the day is absolutely groundbreaking. Paired with a limitation in social media it allows for daily usage or it without it getting in the way. Planning your day in the first few hours makes you live consciously and purposefully, and then avoiding distractions is much easier if you don't have multiple social medias to maintain. Add some daily review at the end of the day, to think back upon your day, the goals you had for it, and what you really did is everything that was necessary for me to get my life back on track.

    No more TV nor payed Netflix and Cie. ,the whole family goes to bed between 8 and 9 in the evening, I cut off FB 8 year ago so I didn’t get to share all of my meals on instagram either,
    Because I use the best 8 to midnight sleep and also sleep for 10h , I get through my whole day with one coffee in the morning and sometimes could forget it. We only watch things that are recommended to us by more then 2-3 personal friends, most of the time around a year after it has aired. Because we are sleeping in the evening instead of holding our eyes open with sticks, we don’t eat after dinner. (Have you noticed that in the evening you are tired and then at some point, you are no longer tired, but you are hungry yet you didn’t slept?)

    I catch myself making negative comments, aloud or internally, and I jump on them right away with positive comments. I avoid media related to violence including graphic news, news in general, films and TV, as well as the big one for me: video games. My mind is much better off avoiding thinking of things I do not control. I still get plenty of news.

    Jokes aside. This video has got to be one of my favorite from you yet. It really looks like you're enjoying yourself with the jokes and edits. :)

    I hate social media because I do NOT get the attention from men I want. I only attract simps. Dating apps won’t do much for me and it’s utterly a waste of time. I feel so much better when I deactivate my account. 😢 Sometimes I compare myself with other girls on social media but it's is temporary and my self-love wins me over every time. 😼

      Always validate yourself. You don’t need it from others.
