J'aimais beaucoup Franckie lorsque j'étais enfant, un très grand joueur qui avait une frappe de balle très impressionnante. Il n'a pas eu la carrière qu'il méritait en équipe de France. Merci pour cet hommage ! 🙏
I learnt from him in the French magazine "Onze Mondial" in th early 90s that kicking the ball is not about how hard your feet or legs kick the ball but about your body position. It really helped me scoring some great goals and made me the free kick guy of the team. Thanks Franck ! Players from the French national team should take a look on this tutorial imho. I have to add he is very good at calling games on TV with is very specific Ardèche accent and calm voice.
Maybe sooner or later, can we get a video on Steve McLaren's Twente vs Martin Jol's Ajax in 2010. Ajax scored 106 goals that season and still didn't win the league with Luis Suárez and Pantelic. Twente won it with Bryan Ruiz and a young Luuk de Jong
Fun fact: Silvester Takač, one of the best players of his generation, was sold midway through FC Vojvodina's 66/67 season to secure money for stadium floodlights - aptly nicknamed Takač's eyes. Vojvodina would eventually narrowly lose to Celtic in the quarters of the European Cup - a loss many of us, Vojvodina fans, maintain would have never come to pass had Takač remained at the club.
magnificent, we didn't really know in France to what extent Sauzée ( who played in my club Montpellier ) had succeeded at Hibernians . fabulous, thank you .
Thanks for this very nice tribute. He was one of the greats and he could still be involved as a coach or consultant like a few legends from this era. This video has been made by a true supporter.
Your videos are class. I didn't have cable tv back then. as a Celtic fan i just saw him when i was in pub & was Hibs v Celtic or Hibs v Rangers. I didnt realise how good he was. He was magic.
So glad that you made this video about a great player of my childhood, I didn't know exactly his career since he left France so thank you for getting me to know it :-)
When Sauzée signed with my hometown team Atalanta it didn't go well, we got relegated actually, but I've always liked his career as a footballer especially the time he spent in Scotland. Great video!
Un très grand joueur de l’OM et de l’équipe de France. Je ne savais pas qu’il avait laissé un si grand souvenir en Écosse. Je me souviens enfant, tout les gamins voulaient frapper les coups francs comme Sauzée.
You're good at this! Jumped the turnstiles at Easter Rd, a fair few times to watch Frank. He was clearly the best player on the pitch, in every game, including Celtic and the now defunct "rangers'
I knew his unbeaten run against us was coming up, 6-2 was at Easter Road, but he is up there with Larsson and Laudrup as the best overseas players in Scottish Football, and has my respect.
I remember being at a Kilmarnock v Rangers game at Rugby Park I was in the away end a few rows down from Lionel Charbonnier, Killie brought on Christophe Cocard and played the French national anthem, Charbonnier was standing up like a band conductor while all the Gers fans in the stand were singing along to La Marseillaise.
Waddle's nickname at OM was 'Magic Chris'....however, even though he had 'Magical skill', apparently the nickname was due to his having video tapes of the Paul Daniels Magic Show sent to him from England to alleviate his home-sickness 🤣🤣
One of my favourite players when I started supporting Strasbourg as a kid. I could also see Zitelli's shirt on the pictures. Great striker in Strasbourg but don't know if he was successfull at Hibs.
would love to see some more career stories of some other cult heroes from Scottish clubs like maybe Nadir Çiftçi for Dundee United the foreign ones are always very interesting. A career story of GMS could also be very interesting, a Brazilian stuck in a Scotsman’s body just like Davie Cooper!
1 - The corruption for Marseille is only for OM-VA a common match of league 1 (to avoid that the players are injured) and Marseille has been condemned. 2 - No real proof of corruption for the CL, the quotes from players are not proof, nobody buys Berlusconi the richest man in Italy, lots of allegations and defamation but not real proof and this why Marseille keep the CL and has never been condemned.
So true it's a fact and also Jean jacque Eydelie said for the French daily l'Equipe, which published Eydelie's statements: "There was a time when I made a lot of money from libel suits, in 1999 alone. I must have won 8 or 9 of them." It's shame to lie like that, especially since he tried to promote and sell his book with this false story.
His former team-mates were quick to react "It's really inappropriate and a load of rubbish, why talk about it now? Jocely Angloma was astonished, and also Franck Sauzée, a consultant on Canal +, was distressed "I sleep well every night, and my conscience is clear. It seems easy to talk like that 12 years later. I think Jean-Jacques is mainly looking for a source of income with this book. I tell myself that to act like that, you have to be in very bad shape as a human being," explains the former Marseille midfielder.
I don't follow Scottish football that closely but this is another great video, well produced, well told and not an inch of filler on it. This channel will be big very soon.

As a loyal Saint-Etienne fan, I always liked Sauzée (in spite of my hatred for Marseille) and always wished he would join us at some point. Ardeche, where he is from, is a green Saint-Etienne fans territory (lot of sections of fans and individuals travelling to the St Etienne stadium at home and away, even in the ultra fans Green Angels and Magic Fans they have a good Ardeche contingent) it is about 80-100km distant from St Etienne, and a lot of St Etienne coal miners had ancestry in the villages of Ardeche. He would have been a massive hero for us. The volatile spoilt Marseille fans of the 90s were probably not able to appreciate such a great player as much as the Scottish fans. Glad he had his fame with a team that plays in green with a great fan base eventually.
