One of the reasons why we love the 90s football so much is that players were allowed to make mistakes/ take chances. Guardiola would kick you out of the team if you miss so many long shots and deep passes in a season as Veron did in those Boca seconds.

Proof is in the results. Pep's team was the best in history and the most fluid and mesmerizing to watch on top of the win-loss and goal differentials. Seeing so many top sides before and since then is like watching a girl throw an American football.

Nothing mesmerizing about pep play style
      Is just plan boring
      No flare no creativity
      No long ball
Possession and positioning and short passes
Also that’s wrong conception running around Barca team was very weak on defense they almost lost 7-1 vs inter 2010
And his city took years and years to flourish in Europe
Even City didn’t have many competitor recent years in England and Europe just worst
So many top notch teams have dropped from Veron era to pep era
You remember opening the tv and you don’t know what game to watch cause every team have superstars and player worth to watch

Veron was a truly brilliant player, majestically gifted. Brilliant to watch, the type of player this generation of midfielder try to emulate. Being a United fan I loved it when he moved to united, a Great signing. But him and Keane in the same midfield just didn’t hit off, all of Veron’s better games were partnered with the likes of Nicky Butt, or P.Neville. Scholes set loose further forward behind Ruud. And Seba to run the show. One memorable moment for me was Veron’s perfect pass for Diego Forlan against Chelsea, to win 2-1 in (03) which opened the way to the title. Great memories of a football Legend, Seba Veron.

  • @nicmafia
    @nicmafia 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

i think he was a good player for united. it was just difficult to integrate him into that midfield and that must of affected his confidence. imagine coming into work and seeing paul scholes, one of the best midfielders in the world, in your position and thinking how am i ever going to to be able to force my way into this side. Then the media turned on him, in my opinion in a subverted racist tone due to his argentinian heritage, harking back ill feelings regarding the conflict in the 1980's. i think fergie tried to integrate with 5 in midfield but it affected the balance of the side to much and hence the reason he was sold on. to say he was a flop is unfair. respeto desde inglaterra señor veron!!!

Those late 90's early 2000's Lazio teams on Football Manager take me back. I was about 14 and always loved playing as Lazio. They had Peruzzi, Nesta, Mihajlović, Cuto, Sensini, Simeone, Nedvěd, Stanković, Verón, Claudio López, Salas, Crespo and even after them you had guys like Dino Baggio, Simone Inzaghi and Karel Poborský. It was a shocking amount of talent and it's a big what if of what they could have done if they'd stayed together. Nedved became the leader of a great Juventus team and he was behind Veron at Lazio. Nesta and Crespo were key pieces in Milan winning the CL in 2007. Stanković and Verón both played together in a very good Inter side. What could have been if they all just stayed together.

I believe he would have flourished to the maximum of his abilities. That Argentina Side at the 2002 WC was one of the most inform National Teams in history for two years prior to the tournament. But due to injuries(Seba was playing with an ankle injury & didn't recover well) & deep in form means a shocking exit from the tournament they were expected to win. Thanks for the Video!

Not many people know much about it beyond cow meat and cowboys, the tango, Falklands/Malvinas, Borges, Evita or their weird Welsh enclaves. There's not much to add on the subjects of the above, at least on a daily basis, so no wonder football is such an all encompassing passion.

Remember channel 5 in uk every Thursday wee would get football from different league's dutch Argentinian league even mls .. and weekend was Italian football with James Richardson but I remember watching players like aimar ortega salas Juan pablo angel who had been or went on to be big players in Europe. But boca had riquelme I loved the way he played like he was strolling controlling everything at his own pace .. the player's river plate and boca produced late 90s earlier 2000s they would be there then gone then next season there would be another young star brought up through the ranks d allasandro cavinagi.. big Martin palermo guy was a goal machine at boca guys like a young teves Delgado .. but palermo went to Spain broke his leg didn't work out .. one of the most underrated for me was ortega prime ortega was different class found out he had a alcohol problem but while at river plate I remember thinking this guys different class but his time in Italy.. other clubs guys like forlan remember striker Sebastian rozental he was another player injuries ruined him but if you seen him play before his injury he was class Claudio Lopez.. and that's only the attacking players therer was some great defenders that went on to have great careers but all came through river plate or boca jr youth systems the amount of talent from the 90s to early 2000s world class players.. but riquelme I'm glad he got another chance at villareal to show how talented he was after his bad stint at Barcelona getting played out of position. . Those two teams gave the world so many gifted players and the Dutch league ajax psv feynoord also to many to mention.. but now kids just talk about Messi and CR7 in the 90s there were so many amazing players world class talents not just two guys head above the rest . And now var 🫣 your team scores and you don't even want to celebrate because your used to then 6min later find out the guys finger made him offside so goal chopped off 🙄 football has changed

Let's be honest. Veron was a good guy to have in your team but we can't just throw the title of great on every odd bloke like it's meaningless. Very good attitude? Definitely. Reads the game well? Pretty much. Very good at much else? No. Let's be honest. He did a lot but not exceptionally good at any of them, and just a tad above average at most skill task.

He’s was an incredible passer of the ball, really skilful, and great dribbling out of tight spaces. Unreal touch at times.

      Veron have the passing of
      Xavi + Pirlo combined
      Do you get that ?
He can run play 1-2 very good short passes
He also a master in the long passes just like Pirlo
He’s passes actually if you watched him with lazio ,parma and later inter (which you didn’t a typical EPL head) range is much much bigger than Pirlo and just as accurate
Not to mention his physical strength
And long distance strikes and free kicks
      Veron was world class
It’s unfortunate people like you is the reason why he’s in the debate. Of one of the best midfielders ever which he was

i was really excited when man utd bought veron but they totally wasted him - alex ferguson tried to squeeze him into the team but veron is the sort of player who can control games-you have to build the team around him- i do not understand why they bought him-ferguson was a great manager but he made a big mistake with veron-same with tevez and berbatev, both brilliant players but they were both used as second choice players to ronaldo and rooney- he seemed to buy them just to stop other teams buying them- and diego forlan , a brilliant player, was not given enough time-they sold him and he went on to great things-

    • @badsolja1

      Very true
      Very good post
Although In forlan case he just struggled in very good era of strikers
Forlan , berbatov , anelka , milito , Robbie keane kinda got the short end of the stick in that era (for the most part ), around that time
Nistrlerooy was unbelievable in man United
Every big team in Europe have very very talented strikers unlike today /last 15 years
We had maybe 5 good strikers in the world
      The big 4 in England
Arsenal got Henry bergkamp , van persie
Man United got Ruud ,Rooney ,Ole gunner
York and Andy Cole prior to that and shringham
Chelsea got drogba ,crespo , Gudjohnsen
I’m sure they also bought kezman and mutu in one point and both of them was extremely good in their previous clubs
They even got Hasselbaink prior to that
Liverpool was lacking possibly the only big team in Europe that was lacking but they also got the chance to buy anelka and they didn’t who was another unbelievable striker
And they got Owen and Fowler prior to that
      Italy
Milan shevshenko , inzaghi , tomasson ,gilardino
Inter , vieri and Adriano (Recoba as super sub)
      Roma ;Montella Totti and cassano
Juve ; del piero , trezeguet and zlatan who later went to inter
No matter where you go all big teams have some of the best strikers
Forlan and anelka got to shine later in their career so a milito when he was near his 30’s

I disagree with the title of this video…a flop in the premier no…disappointing yes but had some very very good performances, the English game being so tight and fast paced didn’t suit his game, hence he found it difficult,he showed his true class for Man Utd in the Champions League without doubt, finding more room and space..back to being the Prems biggest flop..I simply say…D Maria 👌most definitely a bigger flop !

    • @cacbdb
      @cacbdb 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

At his time nobody said Scholes was the level of Veron, Nedved, Zidane, Figo, or even Beckham, nowadays Premier league and England fans tries to portrait their football history as the most important and their past players as the best , which is not accurate Historically, at that time the premier league was behind Serie A and on Par with La liga and Budesliga, and Scholes was never mentioned before Veron.

      Absolutely on point
      Just like xavi too
People wanna made you believe that Xavi was unbelievable since day 1 when he played in 1998 and he’s on zidane level or some BS
When in reality xavi flourished in 2008
Almost 10 years after his debut
Around that time he wasn’t even mentioned around some of the named you mentioned
Even deco , ronaldinho , Rui costa ,Gerrard ,was miles ahead of scholes and xavi
      Early 2000’s
Now kids think Veron was average player and no where the level of xavi
      Which’s just hilarious

A little biased to frame him as a mistreated player at United. You completed skipped analysis of his time at Chelsea by just conveniently blaming Jose, at which his time there was even worse than at United. He was basically what Pogba also was a decade later - expensive transfer and wages that weren't justified by short patches of good form, constantly needing a free role without needing to graft in defence, supported by 2 hardworking midfielders in a slower paced league. Simply an undoubtedly talented player just not good enough to play in an English club, although with far better attitude than Pogba which allowed him to enjoy a longer career.

not sure where in my video I did any of these things - framing him as mistreated or skipping analysis of his time at chelsea. He played fifteen games for them mate, I said he was an expensive failure there, and I mention he was beset with back injuries. Not sure what video you were watching

I think 1969 2010 2016 2017 1994 was way shittier, that era had the 2006 squad Under Jose Nestor Pekerman that was amazing and played some great football too, sadly Veron wasnt a part of that, in 2002 they just went shit I agree
