Great scape! Could you do an entire aquarium lab tour? Looking at all the tanks/fish/plants & substrates? Would be a great video to see all the tanks in one👍🏻

This build was very inspiring. After seeing your video, i started planning a rebuild on my 15g cube. Finished it today and cannot be more pleased. Would never have thought of an island layout before this video. I have known about them for a while but it never clicked that cube tanks are perfect for them.

If not mistaken, these lucky bamboos you put into the filter, are Draceana spec. Not sure if they are capable of extracting as much nutrients out of the water. Suggesting Philodendron spec. for same purpose, could grow at the back rim and into the filter.
    best regards aeon90q1

Excuse me, how tall is this aquarium? I actually have a pair of these Kessil A80 lights but I wanna put them on an Aquaeon 36g Bowfront, Not sure if that would be too weak but I do wanna mimic your setup here with an island scape and taller and hopefully lower maintenance/slower growing plants. No carpeting. Love this island look been cruising youtube for inspiration. You always have amazing work thanks for sharing your knowledge and making videos :)

Mike, was it necessary to rinse the pool filter sand before use? If not, that may justify its $33 price on Amazon. I saw no cloudiness as u filled that tank, simply amazing.

I recently tore down my tank with the same layers of substrate as yours, and I must warn you that it is a real pain to keep the sand clean. Also the sand easily gets anaerobic which is really bad for the roots over time, especially for the cryptocoryne. Good luck :)

Great idea! To engage with your viewers. Set up an aquascappeing contest where viewers summit there images of there tank that they scapped . Set up some generic rules, ie: a 20 gallon tank, any type of wood/rock, low light planted, no CO2, etc... You could judge it any way you would like, but I would have the viewers choose . Everyone gets one vote, but they can't vote for themselves . Maybe only contestants can vote. There's a hundred ways you could set it up. Just an idea that popped into my head

Nice looking tank but I've to agree that white sand is a pain to look after. I used it in one of my 240 liter tanks and ended up mixing a bit of black and brown into it because of all the detritus it gets over time. I mean you can't really deep vacuum it with the soil layer below and the best way to make it appear clean is to turn it over.
Also damn I wish someone in the Nordics/mainland EU would have similar vlogs in english because all the stuff you do seems awesome but would be way too expensive to import here (i.e. Finnex lights). I'd really like someone to do "best online fish stores in mainland EU" vlog. The problem is that most such stores don't either ship abroad or don't speak english - and importing from UK is almost as expensive as importing from NA.
