      I bet the puffers would enjoy hunting some small shrimp. I know I'd like to watch that.

    For the amount of puffers in the space with few hideouts and plants, I'd be careful because when they are young they get along, but once they grow up they become extremely territorial and more aggressive. When they become adults, the current layout may not be sufficient in housing them all in the tank. Just looking out for you!

    As pea puffers age they get more territorial. Yes you have 15 pea puffers be friendly for the first 2 weeks, but we'll see how many you have after 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months. Best is to have maximally 1 for 10 gallons 2 for 15, 3 for 20, etc. I did really well with 6 in a well planted and scaped 55 gallon tank. lots of line of sight breaks and lots of things to keep them interested in exploring.. Snails are good enrichment for them as are ghos shrimps.

    • @sachariahhill5972
      @sachariahhill5972 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shaden0040 mine do well with 3 in a heavily planted 10 gal tank but there's plenty of hiding spots and caves go them. I do not think you should over over that and tbh even 3 was pushing it but they thrive and do great

    • @piranha8111
      @piranha8111 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think you mean 1 for 10 litters,2 for 15 litters ,3 for 20 ,etc.Right?

    I have one pea puffer in a community tank with a rainbow shark, danios, and neon tetras and he does just fine with them, so it all depends on the personality of your puffer. I am thinking about getting another so the other one does not get lonely:)

      That would be really bad.

      GARDEN STATE FISHING - my puffer is in also in a community tank. It does chase around the white clouds when they steal his bloodworms. It does sometimes chase only the fish in his way but tends to explore the tank thinking that I dropped in a snail

    • @--Paws--
      @--Paws-- 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the fish are about the same size, my sparkling gouramis bicker with each other more than the puffer. I feel it is lonely sometimes since it goes at the other end while the others swim about.

    Crush some of that black lava rock and mix it with the white sand. Even a bit of black mixed with white ends up subduing the brown dirty look you get from detritus and mulm. Just make sure the grain size is about same as the sand. I did a similar thing with my tank's white sand bed and found it works pretty well. You still get the dirt but it doesn't look as bad.

    Oh my goodness. I had these fish about 20 years ago. They breed like crazy. The male's get really yellow Orange with a solid stripe . the female's are spotted. They absolutely love snails. Its best to have only one male. They will fight to the death. Good luck with them. Like I said mine were constantly laying eggs .

  • @joeyprince2910

    I keep 2 pea puffs (1M&1F) in a 10gal with Val and tiger lotus. I feed blood worms once a week and I keep hundreds of ramshorn snails in the tank at all times. Oh ya and 1 amano shrimp. I've had them for almost two years about a year ago I put three amanos in there as food but they didn't bother with them. 2 of the shrimp crawled out and the last one cleans out the snail shells once the puffs are done with em . Its very interesting to watch them interact with each other and to watch them hunt snails. When I feed blood worms I use a pipe et and they pull the worm right out of the tip. Its really fun to see them get so excited when they see me with the pipe et. I would recommend puffs to anyone that wants to keep a nano tank as long as they keep them as a species only, other than snails and shrimp
    Love the vids man, keep up the great work!!

      No, plecostomus grow pretty big for small tanks as they grow up to 6 in. Also, pea puffers are KILKERS. Don't let their cute and small bodies change your perspective on them. Really agressive fish.

    • @crimsoncross6
      @crimsoncross6 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Perkins they don't help maintenance really. They may clean the class, but you can do that easily yourself. The bioload and poop everywhere that comes with them are not worth it. Mine have even attacked other fish.

  • @MrAtrophy
    @MrAtrophy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    your tank will be ok until they start breeding, I don't know what it is but the male I had went psycho. i don't know if after mating the male drives off the female to get another in his territory or what but he just went nuts killing his mate. but they may not breed i don't know what triggers it. some fish it is a drop in temp, others it is a change is quality or the moon. who the hell knows.

  • @johnm7147

    I've been keeping pea puffers for quite a while have them in a tank with some Bolivian Rams and some blue Rams they do just fine I have a 4 pea puffers I feed them snails twice a week it keeps the weight on them they really like them and bloodworms and it gives them something to do besides picking on each other which does happen from time to time but if you put a variety of snails small to just a little bit bigger than their mouths they don't fight as much because they have something to do

  • @Kloptrip
    @Kloptrip 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video, good your fish are in healthy condition. Tip : Its better to defrost the bloodworms in advance. Its healthier for the fish and less oil on the surface. I let off the frozen water from the package, i open the pack a little and turn it 90° to let the juice out.Like to see more updates!

    In my experience you have to keep them in a large group i.e. 10+ or just one by itself. Even in a smaller tank. As long as you mind the water quality. Anything else and they just go highlander no matter how many hiding spots or space they have, till there is only one.
