    EPISODE 133
In this video we finally get the batteries installed in the boat! But first we have to build the battery locker and a heavy-duty purple heart rack to hold them. We also install a lot of sole boards, bunk-sides, and a secret locker…
There are also a few important announcements, including an open house during the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival - Saturday 10th September, 10am - 1pm, @ Port Townsend Boat Haven.

Funny... I was emotional about losing the forklift and then learn Pete is leaving. For anyone who has watched these videos from the beginning, we know how that little forklift did GREAT things and that the quirky young man who can turn his feet backwards was an integral part of this journey. "What'cha doin Pete?" will forever be in my mind. I've no idea what project drew him but I hold you to your promise Leo... we need you to catch up with him so we can all get our Pete fix. If he has a social media account about his life, I'd love a link to that as well...
I also am appreciating Patrick's longevity and his ever deepening skills as a shipwright. I love his presence. His work in this episode is quite fine... he's learned from the masters around him and makes a great contribution. LOVED this episode as well. Thanks Leo... the check in is the mail... 🤪

Quite strange indeed. A month or two ago I posted a quick "what happened to 'he who can't be named'?" on the Sampson Boat Co Friends Facebook page. I used his name, and the next day my question had been deleted, let alone answered. Then when the launch video was posted ~two weeks ago there was a review of many of the people who contributed, but not a word, let alone pictures, of Pe**. I don't use his name anymore because it looks like it'll be deleted. Anyway, he was a pivotal guy in the early days for sure.

Watched you for years man. Every time I do I try to come up with words to do justice to my admiration of you and your work. In the cabinetmaker world, attributing the phrase ‘furniture grade” was about the clearest way to distinguish wood trades “Furniture grade” wood flooring comes to mind in fine European homes. But in a boat, remarkable that everything you lay your chisel to is with such accuracy and style. (I was bemused to see if you were going to hand plane the plywood though) Anyway, just thrilled with your work and your series and from a furniture guy (I was lucky to be a sample cabinetmaker at a fine 18th century reproduction house called Kittinger Furniture in Buffalo NY) it’s a thrill that you’re showing the world the worthiness even today of skilled craftsmanship in the approved tradition. Cheers.

The quality of the people, the professionalism, the workmanship, the materials, the engineering, the carpentry, the music and, of course, the result, is unique on TH-cam. Clearly the result of much sweat, dedication, leadership, charisma and Leo's love for all those who were directly and indirectly involved in this project. My congratulations. As for the departure of Pete, another odd personality, I have the feeling that we will still hear more about it, because there is no point in dedicating part of this last video to a machine (as cute as it is) and just a few words for Pete, Leo's faithful squire and a gold standard boat builder.
