A little late to the party, Suitcase but I’m very glad to see you watching this hell of a sequel. I’m sure that in the previous video, I mentioned that I recommended this films to another vocal teacher like you but it seems that she hasn’t gave it a shot. Oh well. This film was everything and like you said, it is rare, if not, very unlikely that the second installment surpasses the predecessor but this one knocked it right out of the park. The premise for it excelled my expectations for it and it is perfect because if anyone deserves to run with the big boys, it is Buster Moon and his team of amazing singers. Of all those moments, my favorite one will always be Johnny’s take on “A Sky Full of Stars” because he was having such a hard time trying to unlock his potential with his choreographer being a hard ass but he was able to find someone who can give him the shove he needed the most. So much so that when he knocked him down, Nooshy lifted him up by providing a beat to show them all that he has what it takes to be one of the greats. With everyone else having their chance in the spotlight, especially Calloway with Ash, the show was an absolute success that Nana saw the results of her motivation and faith in them. If there’s anyone I’d choose to be the heavy hitters of the bunch, it is Taron Edgerton, Scarlett Johansson and, of course, Tori Kelly for Johnny, Ash and Meena. Those 3 are exceptional. With Johnny, I see myself a bit in him because I too know what is like to be pushed around and yet, I don’t let anyone tell me different, especially for my love for singing. This is one happens to get you in the feels and that’s exactly what music does to us: it enables us to express ourselves in such a way that it can’t be explained or summarized. Very good message here. P.S Buster didn’t fire Porsha, he simply asked her to switch places with Rosita since it was clearly meant for her from the start if her father didn’t intervene. Also, the studio has released a new short for this franchise in Netflix not too long ago. Check it out.
They released a Halloween a short on Netflix Sing:Thriller. This was not a leftover from Sing 2 from years ago. They're currently actively developing Sing 3. With the cast at least that returned for the short.
So, for the new main cast we have Halsey as Porsha (Daughter Wolf) Pharrell as Alfonso (Ice Cream Elephant) Bono as Clay Calloway (Lion) Letitia Wright as Nooshy (Johnny's Dancer Friend) Chelsea Peretti as Suki (Talent Scout) Eric Andre as Darius (Self-absorbed Yak) Bobby Cannavale as Jimmy Crystal (Boss Wolf) And also like the first film Wes Anderson and Edgar Wright provide extra voices for background characters since they're friends with the director of this franchise.
I just want to point out. Glee covered 2 songs that Sing 2 did. The Unholy Trinity did Say A LIttle Prayer as their audition to get into glee club in season 1. In Season 5, glee did, I Still Haven't Found What I Was Looking for during Nationals which was one of Finn Hudson's favorite songs(tribute episode). Either way, Clay and Ash had really good vocal chemistry and glad to see that song that Meena did was for her crush. Good job Pharell.
It's implied Ms Crawly is a war vet from her being able to take charge like a drill sergeant to her reaction to getting shot at with paintballs earlier, tho the latter might just be done for the bit Still interesting to think about if true

Sing 2 is amazing, all the singing feels so natural and sounds amazing. You should definitely react to lydia the bard if you haven't already . She has done orginal songs for if disney princesses became villains and even has her own songs. I haven't seen this movies for months, but watching it with you got me tearingggggg up so much.
When I first saw the movie I missed the part of Meena imaginating the ice cream seller being there and I thought the guy got into stage to improvize.
