    The cab market continues to change rapidly. I bought two candies in 2011 for about $650 each (a Sega New Astro City and a Neo Candy 29). These days those same cabs can fetch $1200-$1800 or maybe more depending on location, quality, etc. This is not taking into account shipping, should you require freight services to acquire the cab. Rare cabs like the Taito Egret series are fetching $4000-5000 in 2023! Buying a candy cab requires a lot of research, patience, time and money.

    Long time ago this video was one of the first ones of you I've watched and since then subscribed and being following.
    Recently I managed to buy an Astro City cabinet and the first thing I remembered was the door situation... I had to remove my door with a hammer and pliers to make room for it to get through my apartament door.

    Awesome video. I have a collection of Candy Cabinets. Most of which were purchased over 15 years ago. They are so fun and versatile. I appreciate all the information about your arcade cabinet journey. I have a room tour on my channel.

    The door one is really one that I didn't think about at all. I am currently buying a New Astro City, so this was something I checked immediatly.

    Great video dude, I did my own version of this PSA some time ago. I paid way too much for my Egret 2 but I do not regret it. I purposely rebuilt my office with a 36" door so I could stop having to remove the control panels on my cabs!

    Again, VERY helpful and informative. Weighing the options, I'll probably make a customer cab and just Supergun it.

    Very informative video mate, this should prove highly useful for people looking to get a cab. i remember when i first got my sega naomi universal cab only to find out that it had some very nasty screen burn, school boy error :( Thanks for this video mate.

    great and informative video for guys that are new into the hobby =) when i bought my first naomi there weren´t that much helpfull videos out there, i just looked on the sellers pictures if there was some major screenburn or not and decided to buy the one wich made the best impression to me at the time^^ oh and luckily it fitted trhough all my doors :D

    I just traded my 1up for 2 storm city's and a bunch of parts, plus 2 neogeo boards, best deal ever!
    However they ARE projects, one of which has no control panel so dunno how im gonna get one of those.

    Awesome vid man. I ran into #2. Both of my Astrocitys needed to be disassembled. And I live in a new house. I wasnt expecting that at all.

  • @ondafly
    @ondafly 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    great video - I had some fun getting my New Astro City into the apartment ! it fitted through the main door, but the inner doors required me to take it apart. The Atomiswave was alot like the blast city though, and that was much easier to get through the door frame without too much bother.

    • @ModernVintageGamer
      @ModernVintageGamer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ondafly yeah most of these machines arent apartment friendly at all. My gameroom is actually update-stairs so i had to get it up the stairs which was a challenge in of itself, then i realized it did not fit through the door - ugh. But where there is a will, there is a way i suppose :)

    The Capcom mini cute actually looks pretty kick-ass to have in any room, hell if seen in an arcade it stick out but look good at the same time. Is it possible to make one with a wood or metal frame then make the sides with fiberglass?

      +GRUSS Newton I hear you mate. Its a 2 man job to get most candys up the stairs, then you have to deal with doors. Not fun at all. thanks for watching!

    Another great video man, I certainly can feel your pain getting your candy cab into the room, I have a LAI Viper Cabinet and I thought mine was hard to get through an Australian door width,, I never thought a candy cab is actually more tricky to get through wow I need to remove control panel but not the door itself

    maybe obvious for some people, but I think it's worth mentioning that you shouldn't output more than 640x480 resolution to the crt if you're connecting something like a pc. bios and windows splash screens also run in a higher resolution than 480p on a modern computer, so it might be a good idea to wait for the pc to boot before you turn on the crt or you will have worse problems than screen burn-in

      +Yocke Online i actually got it from a seller in Mexico who had 3 or so of them for sale - i had a friend who lives there ship it halfway and i picked it . It was quite the ordeal to get it here. The only other one i ever saw for sale was in California a few years ago. they dont come up very often as is the case with most capcom candies

  • @KiwiSTG
    @KiwiSTG 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question, can you swap out the pcb from any old arcade cabinet (e.g., a pacman or galaga specific arcade cabinet) and put in another pcb? Do all arcade machines use jamma like that? I'm so new and I know nothing about these things, but I'm thinking about getting in to it and your videos are helping!
    Edit: Oh yeah, does the screen have to meet specific requirements for different games, or will it work for anything?

      You should have 'arcade shop' everywhere.
      Also ebay..but expensive delivery.
      I just bought one 'restored' but..no..I needed to change a lot of stuff..cables..power..stereo..and checked the screen),it's important to know how fix these stuff alone.
