Cycling the key does not re-cycle the glow plugs. The only thing you're doing is putting un-needed strain on the glow plug relay. Once the light goes off, the glow plugs are still getting power. Just leave the key in the on postion, and let it sit for a few seconds after the light goes on then fire it up. It'll start way better then cycling the key like you're doing. In most parts of Australia, we rarely see below 10C/50F temperatures during the day. In the few areas that do get colder than that, the petrol stations usually sell 'alpine diesel' that has additives that help with cold starting. Is 'alpine diesel' a thing overseas? BBslider001 always. most damage to these motors occurs on start up and warm up. if you can, always plug in. my dad's 7.3 w just under 400,000 miles runs like dog shit when cold but if plugged in starts and runs just fine
1 Fahrenheit is -17 Celsius lol that’s not too cold try living in Canada where it can get down to -30 Celsius now that’s cold try starting your car in that you literally cannot unless you plug your car in to keep the fluids warm.
Daniel, sorry to keep bothering you about my excursion but, i would love it if you could direct me to where my keyless entry keypad stickers is on our 2001 excursion? thanks a lot
Maybe I can help with that. I currently own an '02 Ex Limited 7.3 and have owned an '03 Ex Eddie Bauer V10 previously and I was not provided with the codes to either one when I purchased them. To get to that sticker isn't too bad but requires some work, the keypad/keyless entry module is located somewhat behind the radio but more down toward the climate control area behind the dash. As I recall its a 4x8 inch black box. I had to pull the radio, which requires the Ford prong tool, can be had from any auto parts store for like $5, and I pulled the two 7 or 8mm screws that hold on that useless hook thing next to the cigarette lighter. I don't remember which way I had to mangle my body to see it, but with a flashlight and good set of eyes you can look up all around there and see the box, or depending on the sticker orientation, from the radio hole. I think I looked thru the radio on my '03 and thru the hanger hole on my '02 but its there, it was a white sticker with some barcodes as I recall (been a couple years now) and at the top will be the five digit OEM module code. Write it down and break out the owner manual and it will detail how to program your own new one. It can hole two codes, the factory which cannot change, and yours. Hope that helps :-)
I appreciate your help, I did take the cup holder out in that area but couldn't see it, I will take the radio out and take a look. Thanks a ton again!!!!!!
Anthony ferrin somewhere else to look is behind the passenger side panel just behind the rear passenger door. Not the barn doors. Under the seat belt panel
The glowplugs run for about 90 seconds, so you don’t have to turn the key on and off every time the dash light goes out.
They don't build em like this no more.

No need to cycle the glow plugs. Just leave key in on position.

That started easier than my 2001 7.3 at 1 degree
Its a little dirty inside the truck. maybe you oughta take kit to get detailed one of these days haha
I got a 18. year old ford ranger xlt 1999 truck still runs better than my aunts Chrysler town and country minivan that like 10-7 years old
Let's see a Chevy do that
nice man with that many miles!
Actually, that was pretty good.
That cold start sounded like global warming
Hey I noticed the show me State tags I'm originally from St Joseph Missouri which is 57 miles due north of Kansas City
It's the biggest mass production
Suv right?
Yes! And along with the hummer H2, got canceled for bullshit reasons, too big (yet they made the E250's passenger vans)
mine got 300 on it now I run hot shot a siction eleminator in it still runs like a champ
you forget about the turbo? lol. doesnt this have a Wicked Wheel rebuild now?
Can you make a video on your excursion muffler delete? That is the exact sound I’m after.
Ford should bring back the Excursion and it’s been 13 years since Ford discontinued the Excursion
What kind of radio is in that excursion my brother has a ford sport trac that has a bigger original radio and want to put in an after market one
2:40 is what y'all are here for
I would love to get one like that but they are mostly already trashed inside and out
+matthew reed Junkyard the interior. Find one with a solid frame, fix the body yourself and get it maaco'd one color.
Was this the same truck that had gasoline put in it?
hello, can i borrow a part of your video for my compilation? of course I put a link to your original video in the description :)
love the beasty V8 diesel sound on a cold start!
Yes, that would be fine. I look forward to seeing your compilation!
I use to have a ford 7.3l it had over 400lK and the motor started to rod knock and it died on me on the way home so sold it have no see it
That sounded terrible bro i'd never start my 7.3 like that unless i was in the middle of the woods. Plug the block heater in, take care of her.
I'm curious, do you drive around with that South Carolina rear plate with no problems?
zebracherub I'm assuming he lives in Missouri, based on the other license plates seen. I was curious about this and I found that vehicles licensed to haul a lot of weight are exempt from needing a rear license plate.
have a 99 250 only 197000 miles..have had it 6 yrs great truck...but when it breaks down,you need a bank loan..lol
Could always plug it in...sheesh
BBslider001 always. most damage to these motors occurs on start up and warm up. if you can, always plug in. my dad's 7.3 w just under 400,000 miles runs like dog shit when cold but if plugged in starts and runs just fine
jonny j 😂😂😂😂
Under the seat belt panel
does it have the original exhaust system? sounds like you installed a delete system :)
Missourah,should've known.
2:49 sounds like a boat
Sounds like a John Deere tractor.
even the oil? coolant?
Voice crack 😂😂😂 0:03
what does your LPOP run on that when its hot? ive got a T-444E that only runs 40 PSI at 2200 RPM.. seems low for hot Lube oil pressure
