I read that shy guy's look has never changed as it is simple, and the only reason nintendo would change a character's look is if it were flawed. This means that Shy Guy has no flaws. They are perfect in every way.
I'm a bit surprised he didn't mention how Shy Guys were a massive part of Colour Splash's plot as a whole. I'd consider becoming the main antagonists of a game a big accomplishment.

You know, Shy Guys look surprisingly similar to the cyclops enemies in Devil World. Considering Yoshi's design was partially inspired by Tamagon from the same game, I wouldn't be surprised if that was an inspiration for the Shy Guys as well.

I think looking back on it Mario Bros 2 was a good thing. It really increased the variety in Mario and I think if the sequel to Mario bros had been the Japanese one which was almost the same game but harder it wouldn't have been as successful. It also vastly increased the amount of enemies and abilities in the games. If it hadn't happened Mario might have stuck much closer to it's roots and might have just been a one hit wonder.

I know it would probably never happen, but I would absolutely LOVE it if Nintendo made a new Paper Mario game that's partner-based, like 64 or Thousand Year Door, and features a Shy Guy partner. I mean, we've seen Goombas, Koopas, Bob-ombs, a Boo, a Lakitu, and a Cheep-Cheep, so why not a Shy Guy? I would totally want them to be named "Shylo", by the way.

Shy guy is single handedly the best bowser minion and even though it came from a different series technically, shy guy has always been a special and cool villain to me and I'm always happy to see or even play as it when possible!
Don't let any of this distract you from the fact that Shyguy's N64-early GameCube era voice (Mario party 1-5 etc) is way better than his mid-Wii era voice onward.
my headcanon is that the shy guys were originally the mushroom kingdom's soldiers before mario came along and stole their collective jobs. that's why they have padded clothes and use cannons and stuff.

Don't forget about the Shy Guy Ghosts from Luigi's Mansion. They're a ghost variation of the Shy Guy. They take two suction attacks from the Poltergust 3000 to defeat. First, Luigi has to suck their masks off, then he can suck them up

But Nintendo decided to do the Lost Levels and then combined Doki Doki Panic with its former concept.
